Description

A hulking mass of pale blue muscle is here before you. Even among giants, he would be considered quite large. He seems almost as wide as he is tall, though his exact height is hard to determine because he hunches forwards and hangs his head low. Despite his size, he seems to fly easily enough, as any giant of the clouds would have little trouble doing. His arms hang down nearly to his feet and you feel that if he walked along the ground, his knuckles would either drag or be used to provide quadrapedal movement. Upon his palid head is a mop of tangled, greasy white hair hanging down his face to just above a protruding brow bone. Large thick eyebrows matching the color of his hair nearly meet to form one indistinguishable brow, but there is enough of a separation to be able to tell the difference between one and the other. A large maw with an underbite forms the jaw of this huge creature. From dark lips protrude two long canine teeth stretching almost to the nose and providing a tusk- like visage. As you gaze into the fearsome-looking giant's eyes, one thing puts you off guard. You see within his eyes a child-like innocence. They are bright and alive, the color of a tanned doe's hide with little evidence of malevolence in them.

Role

Norkie

Added Mon Nov 22 17:15:02 2004 at level 1:
As one by one, the nature deities to later be called "The
Ancients" either passed from this world or went into their
deep slumber, Norkibjorden found himself without a higher
power to please. Civilization had only begun to start its
strangle-hold on Her neck when Norkie, innocent and unaware,
decided it was time to take rest in the Primeval Dream. He
searched the far north for a some place to rest and found
a natural cave of ice that led deep into the land. Dragging
a tree trunk behind him, he entered the cave to make sure
it was free of inhabitants. When he was certain, he let out
a bellowing roar that loosened a shelf of ice above the
entrance and swung his trunk this way and that so that he
might be sealed and safe. His work done, he traversed deep
within the cavernous hole to sleep.

Centuries passed. The lands grew dark and relit as one age
led to the next and civilization spread its taint throughout
the land of Thar-Eris. It was to her shrill pierce that
Norkie awoke and bellowed back. Thar-Eris was calling. There
would be death and destruction and Norkie, in his child-like
innocence would not want to miss out on the fun. Stretching
each limb and wiggling his ears for good measure, he lumbered
to his feet. Even after an eon of gathered debris and snow
accumulation, the hulking giant knocked aside the obstacle
and entered the light of day. He gathered up all the air he
could muster and roared fiercely across the mountains, bringing
down several landslides before flying into the air and heading
south.

What had civilization unleashed?

Please and Qs

Added Wed Nov 24 15:09:28 2004 at level 20:
Norkie strode through a world wholly unlike the one he had
once knew. Everywhere he looked, he saw walls surrounding
cities and towers shooting up to the sky. It all seemed so
frightening to one whose mind was much like that of a child's.
Though he was fully prepared to bring death and destruction
to the enemies of Thar-Eris, he wasn't quite expecting what
he actually found. Smash at the walls all he might, by the
next day, they were repaired and whole again. He knew that
if he were to help Thar-Eris, he would need allies. Even
more, he knew he needed a deity to please like the ones he
willingly served centuries ago. With such simple-minded
focus, he sought out the one called The Mother.

One Thought at a Time

Added Thu Dec 16 19:32:51 2004 at level 46:
Big, dumb, and with child-like innocence, Norkie bestrode
the land of Thar-Eris with passion and exuberance. He both
died often and handed it out often. His mindset was simple
enough. If there was an enemy, he would smash them, or poke
as need be. If there was an ally, Norkie would wiggles his
ears vigorously in appreciation. Still, over the years since
his awakening, he only sought out the Mother once. He felt
as though he was pleasing the Ancients with his straight-
forward approach to the Outlander ways, but to have a deity
he could call his own again would be wonderful beyond imagination.
For what reason did he need to please the Unseens so badly?
One thing was for certain to Norkie's simple brain - he wished
to see the Mother, perhaps answer some questions of his own
spirit and place in this new land, and garner the mysterious
smile of the crone.
