Description
Looking up at you this little gnome, who smells like flowers, smiles and
greets you warmly. Perhaps one of the nicest smelling gnomes of his kind, he
stands before you overflowing with nakedness. With eyes of midnight blue
giving off the warmest glow and skin of a pale, leathery grey color, he still
gives the room a bright and cheery grin before showing off his gnome figurine
again, the perfect replica of himself. Soft, thin white hair, glowing like
the moon, is slicked back from the top of his head, falling down the sides of
his face to about his shoulders. A musty stentch radiates from his clothing
as well from being worn so frequently and never washed. Tucked in his pants
pocket so that it's head is visible is a small vale bloosom, as beautiful as
can be. Before turning around to greet the next person, he smiles and bows
his head in respect.
Role
Preface

"Odelius!" his mother shouted. "Odelius! Come quick, I've not much time off;role + duty."
A small gnome, in his childhood, comes bounding through the doorway of their
small home down a river road. He comes to a halt before a large open pit of
flame which a slightly taller gnome is bent over, cooking some sort of fish.
"Oh good, you're just in time, I've prepared some..." and before she could
finish, the young gnome fell quickly to the floor and the only thing that
could be heard for a few city blocks is the scream of a panicked woman.
While his body may have been shut off, his mind was certainly busy. From the
darkness came a swirling flash of light and it soon engulfed the entire area,
dimming slightly to reveal the open desert and for a moment Odelius felt
beside himself. He wasnt quite aware of what had just happened but this
surely couldnt be a dream, it felt more real than a dream. Before he could
think any further on it, a wave of sand flicked up on the horizon and as the
sand stilled, it left in it's place a figure, a wanderer of the desert.
Odelius blinked, then quickly rubbed his eyes, and when he put his hands back
to his side, the figure was right in front of him, beckoning him to follow.
The figure, now clearer, was a human, or so it had seemed, and without
thinking Odelius followed. He didnt get three or four feet before everything
disappeared before him as quickly as it had appeared.
Odelius sat up, sweat tearing from his face as he clentched his chest with
his fist. He was back at home, perhaps it was a dream, perhaps not, but he
wasnt about to sit around and let it fade into nothingness. Odelius got to
his feet and gathere some essentials. Before he could even finish he heard a
voice beckoning him. "Odelius!" his mother shouted. "Odelius! Come quick,
I've not much time off duty."
The gnome panicked, he had heard this before, what was going on? Odelius
decided it best not to stick around to find out, so he quickly crawled out
the window to his house and ran through a back alley. As he ran down the
eastern road away from his hometown, he thought about his past and his family
and what would have become of him if he stuck around. Odelius quickly
shuddered and left the thought of the law behind him as he ran forth, he
would not become a magistrate of the law either. Clearly there was no future
in it for him, for his spirit was leading him towards the foggy horizon.
Odelius to this day has let his life take him where it will, trying to earn
the blessing of his Lady, Shazirah, which he believes the figure in the sands
to be. His spirit has taken him this far, and he wishes to find out what it
has for him in the future.
Day of Reckoning
Added Sun Oct 19 00:59:07 2003 at level 1:
An adventure this would truly be for young Odelius, as he paced himself for
what dangers might lie on his quest to find Shazirah and her home in the
sands. Odelius was wandering through the sands of sorrow one day, making
casual conversation with himself when something eerie flickered before him.
He was curious so what else to do than run towards it. Before he realized how
close he had gotten the flickering turned into a figure, the same from his
previous encounter.
"You must be my Lady, I am sorry about earlier..." As he spoke he bowed his
head, but little did he know that the figure had stopped, turned around, and
started for him.
The figure stood now nearly on top of the young gnome, her finger extended
and chanted "Die!" and without a seconds notice, Odelius fell to the floor in
a pool of loose gnome flesh and blood. When he arrived again in his ghostly
form to search for his remains and the figure, he merely asked himself what
he did wrong, what might he have done differently. A sharp whisper came, like
the winds carrying the sand, and answered him with one word. "Chaos!"
Odelius wasnt quite sure what to think, but then it dawned on him. He then
proceeded to end his life once more in hopes to please the Lady. When Odelius
arose again, he would now be better for realizing his ways and how to improve
on it. Perhaps it wasnt his Lady after all, perhaps it was his spirit guiding
him yet again along the right path.
The Enlightenment

And so, Odelius gets himself together and heads once again back into the
desert, only this time into the Desert of Araile, thanks to Halaquith and his
advice to check around there. Wandering among the sand and having great
difficulty seeing, Odelius finds yet again, what he believes to be his
Spirit-Song that guides him towards dan Oasis. Upon finding this Oasis, he
sat and stared in slack-jawed amazment as his Spirit-Song wandered east into
the shimmering waves of heat and Odelius was left alone with just himself and
the half-elf that lay asleep next to him.
It wasnt long before the figure in past memories became more clear as
Shazirah materialized before him. The human chuckled and immediately prodded
at Odelius looking for a reason, a reason why he was here, a reason why she
was to be disturbed. The two talked at length, the occasional laugh, but
mainly serious words were traded. In the end, Odelius was to be blessed by
Lady Shazirah and his goal now would be to aid others in finding their
Spirit-Song and helping them find their beauty within, for everyone has it,
only some choose to see it.
A Renewal

Quite some time has passed since Odelius has come to visit the Oasis, but his
faith grew ever stronger. He did as the Mirage asked and gained his thirty
titles, during which he spread the word of the Spirit-Song to any and all who
would listen. Wistus in particular grew to become quite a friend of Odelius
as he helped her on her way to the Oasis and to seeing her true beauty. When
Odelius ventured once again into the raging sandstorms of the desert and
stumbled across the Temple in the Oasis, he would search and search but to no
avail did he find the Mirage. After spending some time in meditation he
caught a glance of the deep red sands stirring for a moment, and disappear
revealing the Mirage. Their talk would prove quite enjoyable and Odelius left
with a sort of renewed spirit. The Mirage saw him fit to continue with her
blessing and teach others of the Spirit-Song.
The Day Of The Song
Added Mon Oct 27 02:52:44 2003 at level 43:
One day while spending some time at the Inn with Faliro, Odelius was talking
about the Spirit-Song: what it is, and how he could learn to listen for his.
As he was talking to Faliro he suddenly started noticing a faint tune float
his way. Odelius' voice trailed and he wondered why he couldnt hear himself
talk or anyone around him for that matter. Soon he could hear nothing but the
calm presence of a deep voice vibrating his ear drums. The tune was familiar
to Odelius, but he had never heard it so clear before. When it ended, Odelius
panicked as the roar of laughter from the crowed grew back to full volume.
Faliro nudged Odelius asking if he was alright, but he stood motionless for a
moment taking it all in. Odelius's Spirit-Song had actually finished, he had
heard it complete for the first time.
He found it ironic in a way for when he truly was able to listen to it was in
the most unlikely places, a crowded bar. Perhaps it was that his new found
home had provided the comfort he needed to allow himself to listen better for
his song, or perhaps it was the gained wisdom of his new age. Regardless to
him, he was glad he knew that he would be a true preacher for the Mirage, it
was his turn to lead in the dance of life and he extended his hand, accepting
his path, and lead gracefully on, into the desert once more to tell the
Mirage of his findings.
The Blank Chapter

This chapter skips a lot of stuff and basically Odelius goes from being
Odelius to Odie the stupid gnome to the present, which is Odelius the Odious
Gnome, no longer stupid, but just being Odelius...
Reality Check

Odelius the Stupid, Odelius the Naked, Odelius the Stupid Naked Defier of
Talia.. Regardless of his current appearance he remains the same gnome, the
same gentle being. Quickly jotting down thoughts as they pour from his mind
to the vellum, Odelius scribes in a small, black journal.
"I suppose I've made some pretty stupid choices in my life thus far, but you
live and you learn, that's what my mother always told me, but then again,
what did my mother know? She was blinded by the Law that wouldnt let her be
truly as free as I am. Free enough to choose how to act, how to live, and how
to play. I recently proposed to Veida and she has accepted, and we are to be
wed, if my Lady Shazirah could only meet her first. I have learned something
from my talks with Gatrisha and that is 'Be yourself.' Well, I am writing in
this journal today to hopefully show that through it all, I have matured
quite a bit. I suppose that finding my Spirit-Song was just one part of the
greater truth you had in store for me, I only wish that I knew the entire
picture, I only wish that my time would draw nearer. Shazirah, I... I dont
know what to say, I just wish I understood your intentions for me better than
I do, perhaps then you would see me fit to carry your mark. Any sign that you
could give me that I'm doing the right thing would be more than appreciated.
I look up to you like a son to a mother and I would hope that you see it the
same way..."
Odelius set down the quill and yawned before blowing out the candle. He sits
in wait for your word again.
