Description
Gone unnoticed at first, the silhouette of a lithe female
form reveals her presence as she darts past you. As your
eyes fixate upon her, you notice that she is an elf of
average height and her body is lean and toned. Her skin
has a pale, almost ethereal glow to it, like the shimmer
of sunlight appearing on the horizon during the break of
dawn. Long flowing hair cascades down to below her waist
in tight spirals, each strand a deep hue of emerald green.
Her eyes are a piercing shade of azure, and they hold a
sharp intelligence behind them. Her features themselves
are delicate and graceful, however there's also an air of
ruggedness about her, as if she is completely at home in
the wilds. Her clothing is a mix-matched assortment of
armors that is practical and suited to life in the forest.
The leather armor she wears has seen better days as they
seem to be covered in mold and different types of fungi
that have created an almost symbiotic relationship with
her. Lastly, a distinct feature catches your eye, as you
notice a prominent scar running sideways across her mouth.

Oel's birth was an event that was said to have marked her as special
and a good omen amongst her people. For many seasons, her parents had
struggled to bear a child. The village elders believed her mother to
be barren and womb unable to conceive a child. However, they refused
that notion and sought to tug back against the strands of fate and
find a solution to this unfortune. Her people lived along the coastal
waters and were hunters, living off what the land and sea provided.
They tried different herbs and extracts to possibly counteract and
heal her mother's ailment, but as time moved onward, they were met with
constant disappointment. It was then that her mother prayed to the
Goddess Rarywey for a blessing of the tides to flow through her and to
invigorate her womb. As the season moved to spring and the moon was at
its fullest, her prayers were answered and she became with child.
Now these particular elves shunned the cities and their traditions and
way of life centered around the sea and the seasons. All were raised to
be hunters, but they also were trained to be warriors. Both male and
female both were trained relentlessly in combat and how to navigate the
forests and seas as their battlefield. Oel was no different, as she grew
older she honed her skills until she became one of the finest warriors
in her village.
As Oel grew older and she came of age, Oel was expected to marry a worthy
elf from within her village. This arranged marriage was to ensure the
tribe's traditions would continue with their own people and now polluted
by the outside world. However, she found herself drawn to a human man who
lived in the nearby city of Seantryn Modan. Despite the disapproval of her
family and the village elders, she married him and moved to Seantryn Modan
hoping to find happiness and acceptance in a world that was so different
from the woodlands she knew and loved.

Her husband, a scholarly man was supportive of her decision and encouraged
Oel to continue training in the ways of the warrior and join the Theran
Academy. This soon became cut short, as Oel became with child and gave
birth to son that they named Ulvon, an old elvish word meaning moonlight.
During this time, Oel soon discovered that her husband did not enjoy the
burdens of family-life and was not as open-minded as she had hoped. He
grew distant and soon despised her people and their ways, viewing them as
little more than savages who belonged in the wilderness. He joined the
Tribunal Spire as a guard and this caused strife between both of them.
As time went on, Oel began to feel increasingly trapped and unhappy in her
marriage. She longed for the freedom and simplicity of life she had when
she lived in the woodlands. She found herself drawn to a handsome elven
ranger from the village of her people. Despite her love for her son, the
commitment to her husband, and the life they forged, she couldn't resist
the ranger's charms any longer. One night, as her husband and son slept,
she slipped out of bed and left and right into the ranger's arms.
This affair was short-lived, but it was enough to seal Oel's fate. When her
husband discovered what she had done, he flew into a blind rage. In a fit of
jealousy and betrayal, he slashed her mouth from corner to corner with his
sword, leaving her forever scarred. As punishment for her infidelity, he
banished her from their home and used the connections he made with the Spire
to spread word through the cities of her harloting ways. He sent their son
off to be raised and trained in one of the cities held by Spire law and to
hide him from Oel. Finally, he hunted down the elf and left his head on a
pike outside her people's village.
Broken and humiliated, Oel returned to the woodlands, vowing never to set
foot in a city again. She threw herself into her training, becoming an even
more formidable warrior in an effort to forget the pain and shame she felt.
Over the years, she has earned a fearsome reputation among the creatures that
inhabit the forest as they began calling her the Wayfarer. Despite this, she
still carries the emotional scars of her past and what she did, but has vowed
to tear away the oppressive shackles of humiliation that her husband and the
Spire has spread of her and to find and rescue her son.

Mindset:
Oel Ulvon is a moody elf, harboring a deep guilt that hangs over her due to
her infidelity and the loss of her family and son. These mood swings fluctuate
like the seasons as she deals with the burdens she bares.
She has a complete disregard and disdain for law and order due to how it
played a part in the destruction of her family. The added fact that her
husband abused his power and connections to humiliate her opened her eyes to
the oppressive nature that governs Thera's cities.
Due to the oppressive hold that the bastions of order have clamped down upon
the citizens of the cities and Thera, she will hunt those who are fully
indoctrinated in the lie. She believes those of the light still have a chance
to be freed from the shackles they wear and will never slay one of the light.
The dark and those of the balance who are obstinate to the cries of Thar-Eris
will find themselves targets of her hunt.
Life and freedom has become her focus to deal with the ghosts that torment
her. Oel has made it her purpose to promote the natural flow of time and the
cycles of nature. Both life and death are important to reawakening of the
Ancients and Thar-Eris' return. She will nurture the seedling so that its
roots take hold in the earth and it grows to maturity, and when it begins to
yellow and wither, she will allow it to fall and pass so that life will
sprouts forth again where it lay. Any who would dare disturb this cycle will
find there fate to meet the same end. Compost for life to return in there
stead...
Religion:
Oel, like her parents and village along the coastal waters, worship Rarywey
and the cycles of the moon. At a very young age, she could hear the whispers
calling to her. The elders said that since her birth was special, she would be
able to feel the currents move around her, flowing through her veins and
invigorating her soul. After the loss of her family and the return to the
wilds, she began hearing the whispers and spirits again. It drew her to a
vibrant meadow surrounding a bubbling stream, amidst the meadow, a shadowed
grove called to her. Along a fallen tree, patches of fungi grew forth from the
decaying oak. As she grew closer, the whispers grew louder, then suddenly, the
mushrooms shot spores from them that Oel breathed in. The spores created
symbiotic relationship with her and began growing forth from her.

Current Beginning Goals:
Oel wishes to find her son. His station within the Spire has been kept a
secret from her. As halfling, he is an adult now and may not even remember
her. But she keeps the faith that in time he will be revealed. Until then she
has taken his name as her last, to keep always with her even until the end.
She also is searching for her ex husband, driven with the notion of him
succumbing to the same fate she had, by the way of humiliation and loss. If
she finds him, she will have him fall from his Spire.
As Oel ages, the fungi around her increases and spreads. This has set her off
on a pilgrimage to find the Goddess Rarywey for her wisdom and guidance for
the years to come.
The voices he hears from the fungi can be intense at times, almost like a hive
mind and speaking at once. They call to her to find other fungi and she has
begun an incessant search for other fungi and bringing them together as one.
This is part of the reason the fungi upon her is growing, as she is exposed to
the spores they begin to inhabit her and grow along with the others.
