Description

Bright rainbow-colored tattoos contrast greatly with the pale milk colored skin of this savage looking brute. Wearing very little but animal skins and a chaotic patchwork of armors, this giant who floats slightly above the ground bears the cuts and bruises of one who has lived a rough life. A face that may as well be a boulder with deep set cavernous eyesockets is framed by a wild tangle of snow white hair. About his person are various implements of war and he looks like he knows how to use them. A last look at this gigantic figure of roughly thirteen feet shows that

Role

The Winter Wolf

Added Sun Sep 22 08:33:06 2013 at level 1:
His first tattoo was of a winter wolf, a wolf he had hunted for weeks
deep within the frigid wastelands. The tattoo had been carved into his
left arm by one of the elder shaman of his tribe who had declared that
the wolf represented his spirit guide and that he should embark on a journey
to discover what the wolf spirit wished of him.

Weeks into his quest, starving and near dead from exhaustion he had his first
vision. A great fire burned across many lands, the starvation he felt
was felt by all. Strange demonic beings slaughtered all within their grasp
and only a lone winter wolf stood howling before them. The wolf looked
back with shining green eyes and Ogun knew that he was the wolf.

Ogun returned to his tribe and spoke of his vision with the shaman, who
could only tell Ogun to seek out the guardians of Thar-Eris for they
were wise in the ways of the ancients and surely they could explain his
vision.

The Prophecy

Added Sun Sep 22 18:51:10 2013 at level 5:
Months had passed since his vision and Ogun despaired of ever finding out
its meaning. He had journeyed through swamp and forest, braved wild
animals and even wilder men. Taking the advice of a group of applicants
to the guardians of Thar-Eris known as the Outlanders, Ogun sat beneath a
great Tree for an entire month in prayer and contemplation. During
this time he witnessed many things that troubled his mind. He had been
raised to revere Thar-Eris and to respect their guardianship yet with his
own eyes he had seen one of their mages casually throwing about fireballs
which had burned a young wolf cub, he had seen another of their magi use
their magic to mend the wounds of one of their warriors, sparing him the
pain that Ogun had been taught was sent as a lesson from the ancients to
one stronger. Day after day Ogun witnessed magic being used in ways that
ran contrary to what he believed about the ways of the Ancients as
taught by his tribe.

It was upon the 23rd of the month of the Great Evil that the spirits sent
him another vision. This time he was far above a great forest that burned
with magical fire and a great black portal cut through the air like a
festering wound, winged nightmares pouring out of the portal. However
what stood out in this nightmare was a single dark figure, cloaked in
the colors of forest green, surrounded by forest creatures. The figure
turned its gaze upwards to Ogun who realized he was in the body of a
hawk and Ogun-hawk could see that the figure was that of a dark-elf
crying tears of blood. The figure pointed to Ogun and a voice seemed
to echo from the very air about him.

'Witness and despair, for what I have wrought! Though I had no intent...
NAY...though WE had no intent, our magic has weakened the Veil beyond
repair and now shadows from another plane pour through into ours! The
Prophecy of Eternal Night has come and the fault lies not with the Scions
but with we magi in our greed for more and more magic!'

Ogun's own scream pulled him from his vision shaking. He needed to speak
to the shaman and quickly!

The K'srei

Added Sun Sep 22 20:34:17 2013 at level 5:
Deep within the mountains circling the frigid wastelands lives an ancient
tribe of cloud giants. Known simply as the 'K'rsei' which stands for
'Watchers' in their ancient tongue, the K'rsei rarely venture from their
mountains, only doing some light trade with the frost giants and felar.
Known mostly for their shamanic heritage, the K'srei are a very devout tribe,
dedicated to the various animal spirits that guided them through visions
granted to a select few among them. These few would typically be raised
as shaman in order to act as the voices of the spirits.

The K'rsei believed that the Ancients had given them the mountains as
their home so that they could watch through their visions and preserve
the ways of Thar-Eris in solitude. Over the ages their focus had
been on three main aspects above all.

PURITY
To be K'srei was to be one with nature. To flow as a leaf upon the
the river of life, neither fighting against the current nor finding
any stone placed before it an obstacle, for the K'srei flowed about any
obstacle as the river flows about a rock. Maintaining this purity
of spirit meant spending at least once a day in prayer and contemplation,
avoiding excess emotions, for to become emotional was to lose the pure
balance of thought required to understand the voices of the spirits. And
finally being pure meant avoiding contact with civilization. Though
the K'srei did not war against the cities, they distrusted those
who surrounded themselves with the temptations of impurity.

The K'srei Continued...

Added Sun Sep 22 20:50:24 2013 at level 5:
FATE
The K'srei believed that though the ancients slept, their will was still
manifest. Everything that happened in life according to the K'srei
happened for a reason and to avoid what life brought to you was to work
against the will of the Ancients. Thus the K'srei had no healers amongst
their kind, seeing the use of healers as going against the will of the
Ancients. All things, both good and ill could be embraced or fought with
one's own will and if it was meant to be, so would it be.

REVELATION/DIVINATION
The K'srei above all worshipped the various animal spirits and
each of them was sent out into the frigid wastelands when they came
of age to find their spirit animal. This spirit would guide them and
in special cases would reveal to them visions which could be of the
past, the present or even the future.

Chosen

Added Wed Sep 25 18:50:00 2013 at level 9:
Weeks passed as Ogun made his way back to his tribal lands within the
Frigid Wastes, but finally he arrived to the joy of his family who had
laid out food for him in advance due to a vision the tribal shaman had
correctly intepreted as a herald of Ogun's return. After filling himself
and resting, Ogun made his way to the elder shaman and related this new
vision to him.

The elder shaman leaned back smoking a long pipe filled with herbs and
a pungent weed listening and nodding as Ogun spoke of the strange drow in
his vision and the warning it had spoken of. When Ogun finished the shaman
didn't speak but simply sat still with legs crossed beneath him in a state
of contemplation. After awhile the shaman began to murmur and then the
murmurs became a chant. The shaman's eyes rolled back into his head and
as if pulled upwards like a puppet upon a string, the shaman's body lifted
into the air suddenly. Just as sudden the shaman's eyes flashed open and
they were glowing green and a voice that seemed to be the shaman's
voice but as if echoing from deep inside a cavern and with a strange
underlying echo as if two people were speaking at once and nearly matching
each other's words exactly came from him.

'Young Winter Wolf, Ogun Kingbreaker, Fate Has Spoken Your Name! The
Ancients Stir and Their Enemies Gather! The Veil Has Thinned And
Only Blood Can Mend The Wounds! You Shall Be Voice And Hand!
Let Those Who Guard Thar-Eris Know That Greed Does Not Just Lie
Within Gold, But Also Within Magic! Cull Those Who Stand In
The Path Of New Growth!'

With those words, the body of the shaman dropped to the ground with a
thud and his eye's lost their green glow. Heaving a heavy sigh, the
shaman took a drag off the pipe and gazed at Ogun silently for several
minutes. Finally he spoke, his voice low but commanding...

'You must journey to the Village of Battle far to the north, your new life
begins there. You have been chosen and our paths now must part.'

The Prophet

Added Fri Oct 18 17:10:10 2013 at level 40:
Years had passed since Ogun had first arrived at the Village of Battle
and joined in their war upon the magi. During this time he had
even more visions and though he was still unsure why the ancient spirits
had chosen him he was unwavering in his faith and dedication to preventing
what he had seen in his first visions.

Thoughts such as these plagued his mind daily and nightly as he struggled
to understand what his role was until one night he was visited by the
strongest visions yet. Above his view in the vision was the sun and below
him fields of green grass and about him the sound of birds chirping and men
talking about mundane things such as the weather and how the crops were
doing. Suddenly his view shifted within the vision and he was above an
overgrown ruin that he recognized as his home for the past few years, the
Village of Battle. However where once the smell of blood and the sound of
battle had prevailed, now the only sound was the mooing of cattle and
the low tones of farmers and hunters in the surrounding forests.

Again his view shifted, and this time he recognized the great Tree the
Outlanders called home, stiill standing proud amongst the surrounding
forest, though bearing scorch marks as if it had been through a great fire.

Finally his vision shifted once again and he was above a great chasm and
near the chasm was a wolf - the same wolf from his first vision, staring
at Ogun with its glowing green eyes. The wolf padded softly over to a
plaque that had been erected near the chasm.Upon the face of the plaque
were many words, but the first few stunned Ogun even in the midst of the
vision.

'The Prophecy of the New Growth' by the Prophet Ogun Kingbreaker

The Prophecy of the New Growth

Added Fri Oct 18 17:27:30 2013 at level 40:
Thou shall know the Eternal Night is nigh when the Tree burns and
the Reaver cries tears of blood. But Lo' it has been revealed that no
Night is Eternal and New Growth shall come for when the forest burns it is
only for the purpose of preparing the way for new growth and diversity.
Through pain the world learns to endure, through trial the world learns to
become strong and through death we learn to appreciate life.

The signs of New Growth shall come after the blood and fire, and there
shall be Champions of the New Growth who shall tend to the faithful who
shall push up from the earth as blades of grass. Watch to the heavens for
the sign of the Wolf who shall howl, beckoning forth those who await to
bring Spring forth after the Winter.

Look for those who have given up the taint of magic and see the faces of
your new brothers and sisters, the Chosen who heed the Call and teach the
Way which brings true balance to Nature by tending the Earth and the Veil
without the taint of their former professions. Listen for the Word of the
Ancient Spirits not with your ears but with your hearts, for they whisper
in the hidden places of your very soul.

The Prophecy of the New Growth is upon us and it shall not save us from
the Eternal Night, it will be the foundation of the new world that shall
arise from the ashes as the Sun arises eventually into the sky and all
shall proclaim in defiance that no Night is Eternal.

No Night is Eternal

Added Fri Oct 18 17:57:10 2013 at level 40:
Ogun flew back to his tribal lands as soon as he could gain time from
his duties within the Village of Battle. speaking to his elder shaman,
as soon as he arrived of his latest vision. The shaman puffed
upon his pipe and gazed at Ogun and then spoke.

'I too have been visited by visions and prophecy and I am moved to explain
that we have been both wrong in believing we could prevent Fate. Fate is
that which cannot be denied nor moved. It is inevitability itself! The world
shall see the Eternal night, but it shall not be the End but merely a new
beginning! You my son are the PRophet of what is to come, ye must find the
Champions who shall bring the sprinf after the Winter comes! This is Prophecy!'

Ogun knew in his heart that the shaman's words were true. All his visions
had been pieces of a puzzle and he believed this was the last piece. It had
never been just about preventing the Eternal Night, but about the hope
that there was no Night that was Eternal and New Growth would come.

Ogun knew what he must do. He would become the Prophet of the New Growth
and he would teach all who wished of the Prophecy and what was to come
and how to prepare.
