Description
Drow rarely get much smaller than this five foot even female Dark-Elf
who appears to have the muscle mass of a toddler. Long silver hair
bounces off her slim body effortlessly, as if it were light as air. Yet,
there appears to be a strange effect as she moves. As if her hair
seems slightly wet or damp, but when she's still it floats like air.
Her face appears that of an aged and wise Drow with light, almost
pale, ebony skin. She is neither pretty, nor ugly, but rather unsettling
if anything. Her eyes are the color of azure and under each of her eyes,
like teardrops, you can see what appears to be small flashes of starlight
shining softly, then dimming and disappearing only to be replaced by
another light repeating the same pattern but in a slightly different
spot under the eye.
She moves strangely, as if she isn't putting any effort into it. Almost
like she were being pulled, or helped, but without a visible source.
There is also something off about how she stands, as if she's slightly
uncomfortable or pained. She shows no such emotion on her face, and
the last, but possibly most odd, thing about her is that when she stands
still for too long, it almost appears as if roots or something similar
seem to be extended from her feet and helping her stand upright.

Backstory
Added Wed Dec 7 21:05:59 2022 at level 1:
Olvidra was born into a mid-level house in Teth-Azeleth. She was always a
small, frail, and sickly child. None thought she would make it more than
a month from birth. Olvidra was 11 years old when the entire Khugurvul House
was overrun and slaughtered by the Royal Guard under direct order of the
Queen.
Olvidra ws spared, only as she could not dare pose a threat to retaliate due
to her frail and weak stature. Still, Olvidra was banished from Teth-Azeleth.
Doomed to wander the tunnels and caverns of the Underdark until she starved
or was eaten. She never knew the reason for the betrayal by the Queen.
62 years later, Olvidra Khugurvul has finally found the courage to step out
of the caverns and onto the surface.
Daylight
Added Wed Dec 7 21:14:10 2022 at level 1:
My mother warned me of its touch long before I'd ever dreamed of seeing such
a thing. She said "It's touch would burn".
I had spent 50 years in darkness before it pierced my sanctuary. I was so
frightened, at first, I actually turned and ran. That was the first time
I saw it.
Time passed, and in my thirst for survival, I found myself coming closer
and closer. Daring to come so near it, I was almost within it. But I paused.
I heard her voice saying it was not for us. That we belong below. I stepped
into Daylight.
The sensation of pain... but I knew pain. I blinked through the sting and
burn. And that was it. I had survived, again, where they said I could not.
And I grew envioius of those who lived up above for denying me this for so
long. And I grew envious of those who dwell down below, with a home to call
their own.
I have stepped out now, from the shadow, to cultivate the negative energy
that has kept me alive for so long down in the darkness. My prayers, such as
they are, go to Rarywey the Drowned. A name whispered to me in the depths
while pausing for a drink from an underground stream.
Updates and Oddities pt. 1
Added Thu Jan 5 11:41:49 2023 at level 34:
For this entry I'll mostly ignore specific events of playtime, and focus on
Olvidra's motivations and shed some additional light on how and why Olvidra
has become who she is. She is evil, inherently, but there's more to it than
she has an inherent will do do wicked things. Ultimately, Olvidra isn't tied
to any specific strict set of conduct or rules. That's why I'd like to use
this update to focus on WHY Olvidra is who she is.
Survival:
Olvidra's survival, against all odds, and how the constant uphill battle her
life has been has(is) shaped(shaping) her present and future. She's in a
constant battle with the more feral side of her, that she hopes to mostly
leave behind her, and that basic need to survive and struggle if need be
is something she learned from her exile into the untamed underdark.
In addition to that, I also thought it important that in her entire time on
"the surface" she has experienced the most kindness and acceptance from Orcs.
I think an Orc is likely one of the only beings in Thera to know what
it is to be a true outcast, and that "too ugly to love" bond was evident
from some of Olvidra's earliest interactions with Orcs. Olvidra is a
solitary and untrusting Drow, but she feels there is an understanding
brewing with the Orcs that she has met thus far.
Daylight/Olvidra's struggle with "the surface world":
Olvidra is ultimately driven to harbor envy and stiffled hatred towards
both societies that rejected her. Meaning she hates both surface and
underdark folk. However her resentment towards the surface comes from
a more "hurt" filled place. In Olvidra's mind, the surface and all of
its delights were denied to her (and also her people, but that's
irrelevant to her at this point) and some parts of her intelligent side
can see an actual problem with alienating and shunning beings you share
a planet with, but also Olvidra's evil and a little crazy so she takes
that further than perhaps it needs to be. She ultimately curses the
surface for denying her the pleasures and interests of the surface. Even
though she actually LIKES darkness and privacy, she still sees it as
an outright offense against her entire life and being.

Arcane Arts/Power:
A huge part of her overall objective has been about shaping or growing
the gifts that helped keep her alive in the horrors of life alone in
the underdark.
The only shred of happyness or joy Olvidra ever had out of 60 unspeakable
years alone in the underdark was the power she felt growing within her.
A huge part of what got her through the savegry was the desire to see
this power grow. She was always the smallest. Always the easiest target.
The pain and humiliation for her has been almost enough to end it all,
many times.
Yet, that power that she felt inside was just enough to maintain her
curiosity and mild obsession. It's kept her going all this time and
Olvidra means to see it through, no matter the challenges, blood, horrors,
or humiliation.
Rarywey:
Olvidra's curiosity with the Deity, Rarywey, began very early into her
exile into the untamed underdark. At that time, in her life, the idea
of ending it all was almost the most sane conclusion. In the worst of
those times, Olvidra always found herself walking towards water. The
unerdark is full of streams, waterfalls, rivers just like the surface
world. In the worst of times, Olvidra found being near running water to
be... Right. It was in one of those times that Olvidra had a vision.
In it, she saw a woman kneeling next to a flowing underground stream.
Olvidra could not make out the face of this woman, but the vision was so
real and emotionally stirring, Olvidra was compelled to open up parts
of herself that she was sure had been smothered years before.

Updates and Oddities pt. 3
Bag of Bones:
Olvidra came across an usual artifact while perusing the docks of
one city or another. A bag of odd little numbered bones. Any normal
person would have dismissed them for nonsense, immediately, but Olvidra
was taken with them quite instantly. She has taken to using them, at
times, when making choices. She doesn't know, yet, if they work perfectly
but Olvidra is a supersticious Drow, who will use any toold at her
disposal to get an edge or achieve her goals. She isn't completely
throwing all science to the wind, however. She plans to keep some idea
of when the bag works, and perhaps even HOW the bag works. It's both an
experiment, and a daily routine.
A further truth is that the bag is (partly) a coping mechanism to deal
with Olvidra's inner and outer isolation from everyone else. She even
talks to it! Further, it's another way for Olvidra to add another element
of chaos or randomness to her life and choices. She likes making fate
as difficult as possible.
Future:
The future is undecided for Olvidra. Even though she's got her issues,
she's come to gain an appreciation for her freedom and the life she's
managed to build. Olvidra has no plans on causing anyone trouble, unless
their actions become too distracting or unsavory. One of her main
driving goals is to see the small spark of power that kept her alive
grow into... something.
For now, Olvidra will do what she feels will help her powers to grow.
Which means a lot of time deep in stydt and practice. Olvidra plans to
continue traveling and expanding the mind that was once so confined
and strained.
One thing, for sure, is that Olvidra is finally ready to approach
Goddess Rarywey. Her emotions are conflicted, but she's curriously
optimistic.
Travels, Observations, and Growth
Added Sun Jan 22 13:30:23 2023 at level 40:
Aubade School:
For a long while, Olvidra spent lots of time at the Aubade musical school. It
was a quiet and relaxing time there, working long hours on her arts and creations.
Olvidra found it especially excellent to practice her sewing of flesh as music
came drifting into her work station.
She was able to relax herself and focus on problems and issues facing her. At
the Aubade school, she felt welcomed of sorts. As if she could take time to
reflect on herself and where she was going. This time of reflection was
necessary for Olvidra to try to unravel the mysteries unfolding in her mind, and
her reality.
In addition, she also found resources that she hadn't thought of and a small
respite from the day to day of life on the surface or below. I feel it is
necessary to talk about the Aubade school when talking about Olvidra forming
who she is.
Thar-Acacia:
Through dark mists, Olvidra came upon a city. Normally she would shun such a
place, as most cities are less than kind to Olvidra. However, she felt compelled
to stay in this Thar-Acacia for quite some time. There she learned more about
herself than the vast majority of places she's visited.
For you see, Thar-Acacia is a place of Order. Olvidra walked into the situation
as she would most others. An enthusiasm for learning and growth, but wild and
uncontrolled. She found out the hard way that the way she was approaching the
city and its inhabitants was wrong. She learned, painfully, that there was an
order to things in this city, and if she was to survive it she would need to
change. Adapt. Overcome. And so she did.
She researched in the city's libraries and studies. She studied her craft and
how it may best be applied to the citizens. In time, she was able to adapt and
show many of the citizens of Thar-Acacia a new way of thinking about things.
Under her control and at her whim. Yes, Olvidra did quite well there despite a
rough start. She grew tremendously within those walls. Perhaps not exactly as
those citizens wished, but tremendous growth none-the-less!
The Tower of Trothon:
Olvidra walked through the desert wastes to find a dark and wonderous tower. A
tower controlled by a great and powerful being. Within this tower, Olvidra dwelled
for many weeks. Months perhaps. She studied the art of creating Drolems, in
an effort to increase her own abilities. She saw a different way of using power.
A different kind of power, even! She was lost in the ways of such excellent magic.
That is the place where her passion for undeath was illuminated. She plans to
proceed forth within her guild, to find out what awaits perhaps on the other side.
Mysteries, Currents, and Cycles
Added Sun Jan 22 13:54:33 2023 at level 40:
Olvidra lost her bag of bones. It crumbled after a number of uses. She was
frustrated by this, but Olvidra has grown a lot. Thus she was able to put it
behind her. Especially after she found a new set of bones to keep her attention.
A new set of bones, indeed. An odd thing happened, as Olvidra walked into her
Lady Rarywey's sacred home. A tree came to life, or already had life. A wood-
and-bones. Really, it should have terrified most. However, Olvidra is not most.
Olvidra was curious about this new being. The Tree had its own set of bones
that was more than curious, indeed, to Olvidra. A sign, perhaps?
Olvidra and this Wood-and-Bones talked for hours and hours. About the Lady
Rarywey, about Olvidra, and about many other things. Within this discussion,
Olvidra was moved by the Wood-and-Bones description and talk about the cycles
or cycle of things. Olvidra found herself curious about these cycles, and would
think about them whenever her mind had spare time. The odd tree also spoke of
reconcile or reconciling. Something Olvidra had not given thought to. She is
a bit confused (from her point of view) about what needs to be reconciled.
At the end of their discussion, the odd tree asked Olvidra two questions.
Questions that Olvidra had to take a long time to consider. One mystery.
For this mystery, Olvidra found herself baffled. Still, the word "cycles" kept
rattling around in her head. One day, as Olvidra traveled back into the underdark,
down into the depths of the underdark sea, Olvidra found herself in a current
beneath the water. Try as she might she could not escape. The current swept her
and pulled her faster, and faster! Until she was no longer in the underdark sea.
She was in a vast expanse. Nothing. And then SOMETHING! Everything, all at once.
She lived an entire life. All in an instant. Then nothing. Then SOMETHING again.
Over and over. It felt like an eternity. When she awoke, she hadn't moved an
inch from where she last remembered.
That vision left her with an answer for the questions posed. Olvidra patiently
awaits a time when she can give her answer.
The second mystery came in a dream. Or nightmare. Olvidra, honestly, has trouble
telling them apart ever since her times lost in the underdark. Still this one
dream was especially vivid and stirring. In it Olvidra saw stars. Three to be
exact. All different colors. And they all faded away. It chilled Olvidra, at the
time.
Olvidra has a feeling she knows where to look, but is hopeful that perhaps her
Wood-and-Bones ally has an answer or a better clue.
Olvidra is very hopeful for her future serving and worshiping Lady Rarywey. She
has found not only a place she feels welcome but a challenge. In that, Olvidra
feels perhaps her powers and understanding of death magic might offer some aid
to Lady Rarywey in some way. Something yet to be seen, perhaps.
Master Necromancer
Added Sat Mar 25 23:28:21 2023 at level 47:
Time has passed, and Olvidra Khugurvul has become rather well-known of sorts within
the realm of Thera. Over all of this time, she has attained mastery of the spells
learned within the Necromancer's guild. She has advanced beyond most who share
her guild, even those who'se lived thousands of lifetimes. She knows this, because
a part of Olvidra's strategy for growing stronger has been to hunt down and kill
as many strong Necromancers or Master Necromancers as she can. Those beings who
have held onto power for longer than, even, some of the Gods can remember. She
has hunted the Master Necromancer of the High Tower of Sorcery, in Thar-Acacia,
Barovia, Halfling Lands, and many more. Olvidra plans to continue hunting master
necromancers as a part of her plan to attain knowledge for the purpose of aiding
Lady Rarywey and staying true to the very young Drow girl who was lost in the
underdark.
As Olvidra's power continues to increase, so too does her ability to mask her
physical ailments. They never go away, mind you, however she can mask them rather
well using the negative energy she's cultivated and perfected. When moving, she's
able to run at a full sprint, and she's able to offset some other of the more
obvious physical defects by other means that will be discussed later.
Teth Azeleth is the home that abandoned Olvidra and sentenced her to death. A
memory she has carried with her as long as she can remember now. As Olvidra was
beginning to reason out how powerful she had become, she was told of a magical
rod being held in Teth, by the Archmage no less. A part of Olvidra thought to
ignore it and search for other sources of aid. A strange thing happened when her
mind thought to ignore it. It began to rain. Out of a clear sky. It was clear to
Olvidra she was being told something. And she worked to build a suitable escort
for the trip. As she walked through the halls of the Queen, herself's, palace
slaughtering guards and goblins alike, Olvidra realized she was truly truly happy.
Olvidra killed the Archmage, Auzuul, and raised his body to remember the occasion.
Olvidra has become increasingly infatuated, in a curious way, with her golem. It
has gained new abilities and has shown an unexpected knack for leadership. Often,
Olvidra can be seen directing the golem, directly, as if it isn't just a servant.
Olvidra plans to continue her observations of the golem out of her natural
curiosity.
As the future continues to unfold, Olvidra has plans on becoming, but she has
other goals too. There are more ways to power than the most obvious, and Olvidra
is a curious and inquisitive sort. She'll make her way. However, she has
repeatedly stated that she has no intention of becoming a Mummy.
Rarywey and the Spirit World
Added Sat Mar 25 23:53:56 2023 at level 47:
The Tree-Bones that Olvidra met initially, was kind enough to introduce
Olvidra to the Lady, herself, Rarywey. Olvidra was in awe, as one might imagine,
and immediately began soaking up as much knowledge of the spirit world, currents,
and cycles, and all things Rarywey. The two of them have had several meetings now
and with each one, Olvidra learns more and grows more in her faith.
In one of their meetings, Lady Rarywey pressed Olvidra on her time as a child and
her reasoning behind holding onto the spite that has, in part, kept her alive so
long. In the end, Rarywey saw through Olvidra and made Olvidra admit that the
thing that she HATED most was that her peers pitied her. They were forced to
take it easy on Olvidra because of her deformities, and so they looked down on her.
It is a shame that Olvidra did not wish to admit. Still, doing so has helped
release some of her inner turmoil and has also allowed her bond with Lady Rarywey
to grow further.
An interesting thing that has played a part in Olvidra's faith is a curious item.
This item allowed Olvidra to transform into a Tree. That's it. Just a tree. The
experience was life changing, really, for a slightly crazy Drow. The clear mind,
the pure bliss of only existing was fascinating beyond words for Olvidra. She
used the experience, and the many times she's transformed since, as a way to
grow within her faith. She took the time to open up and see the world with truly
different eyes. She also used the experience to look into what dark or shadowed
powers she could pull from the natural surroundings. What parts she could, maybe,
twist or defile so that she could gain better clarity. In the midst of this
probing, she heard a voice.
After much trial and error, Olvidra has come to the conclusion that there are,
indeed, darker aligned natural spirits all around. And some of these spirits are
quite the chatty type... If you can handle the stress of communing that is.
On a rainy day, Olvidra came home as the currents pulled her where she was
supposed to be. In the crater left by those who fell from the stars, Olvidra had
her first full and true communing with the spirits of the darker and shadowed
natural realm. It took quite a bit out of Olvidra, but she survived. Now, she
feels more... in tune... with the spirits. She feels, after such a harsh and
unsettling first attempt, she can read spirit signs, and see things a bit more
clearly. Going forward, she may talk to thin air, or seem to see things none else
see.
The first attempt at communing was so life-altering, Olvidra drifted amongst the
stars for days, while her body underwent several minor and cosmetic transformations.
One day, Olvidra hopes to EARN Lady Rarywey's mark as her chosen. Until then she
continues as she has, but with Rarywey and faith at the forefront.
Scion
Added Sun Mar 26 00:12:17 2023 at level 47:
The obvious question is: Why now?
The answer is that Olvidra has never truly cared about power, but rather HER
power. Olvidra craves to know the heights SHE can reach, in service to her Lady.
As Olvidra has grown in negative energy, she can also see a threshold of power
that she seems to be reaching. To surpass this new limit, Olvidra has turned her
eyes to The Scions of Eternal Night. They and the knowledge, ancient lore, and
understanding of other shadowed realms of being are Olvidra's new key to continuing
her goals. Which are essentially to BE all that she can be, and serve Lady Rarywey
with that very same power and knowledge. To Olvidra, in many ways, the two go
hand in hand. Olvidra believes that despite her own motivations, she and the
Scion can grow together until, perhaps, they can no longer. However, betrayal
isn't in Olvidra's plans.
As far as Olvidra has researched, the Scions wish to bring about a doom, of sorts.
Olvidra can see many many ways in which this "Doom" could actually be quite
helpful, even within the Drowned faith. Doom, in Olvidra's opinion, is usually
highly overstated and underappreciated. Doom can bring lots of new and helpful
things about. And, perhaps, it is Olvidra's duty to see to it that this whole
"Doom" situation was to Lady Rarywey's advantage and benefit.
The Lady Rarywey, herself, approved of Olvidra's choice to pursue the Scion.
And from Olvidra's perspective, of course She would. She's a deity who appreciates
inquisitiveness, after-all.
A problem, of course, is the loss of freedom that Olvidra has so pain-stakingly
cultivated. Olvidra is no stranger to sacrifice, however.
Thus, Olvidra plans to investigate the reclusive Morius and attempt to discuss
a bargain or alliance that stands to benefit, perhaps, the world at large.
Spirits, Trees, and Rarywey's Favor
Added Mon Apr 3 22:04:22 2023 at level 47:
Time has passed and Olvidra finds herself in the frustrating position of
unfavor with her Goddess Rarywey. Olvidra struck a deal, and offended
Rarywey. Thus, she finds herself in a position she hasn't been yet. Without
Her favor.
In her frustration, Olvidra lashed out at another being of importance, and
that being took the time to scold Olvidra and put her in her place. It
isn't like Olvidra to apologize and feel shame, but this is different. This
is her very faith.
After some time thinking, Olvidra has decided that she was indeed in the
wrong to go as far as she did.
And in the midst of all that shame and doubt, Olvidra had an epiphany!
Perhaps it was the fact that she was on death's door. Or the fact that
she had lost something she actually cared about, but regardless. Olvidra
had finally put it all together, and now knows how she is to aid Lady
Rarywey in her duties and as Her follower.
The answer lies in something that had fascinated Olvidra for quite some
time. Trees! Olvidra will discuss these plans and specifics with the Lady
in private, but in short Olvidra wishes to lean into the spirit side of
Lady Rarywey's faith. To listen and study what those spirits who inhabit
the negative or shadowed side of the natural realm. Olvidra has found she
is quite good at listening and learning.
Olvidra hopes to work to understand and make as much sense of these spirit
world doings as she can, and ideally find a connection to aid the Lady.
Olvidra also plans to find a way to make up her offense, and restore some
level of trust with an important part of Rarywey's life.
Lastly, Olvidra has beseeched her Lady for some vitality or constitution
to help her see her way to completing her many goals and tasks. Olvidra
has even accepted that she 'fears' to fail, now that she's so close.
All Olvidra can hope is that Lady Rarywey understands just how much this
means to her and gives Olvidra Her blessing.
Extra lastly, if she can find a way to extend her life, Olvidra plans to
make her first TRUE steps towards 'becoming'. She knows what she has to
do, but the challenge is doing it without dieing for good.
Shadows of Eternal Night
Added Mon Apr 3 22:22:12 2023 at level 47:
Olvidra has attained her goal of joining the Scion of Eternal Night. She
didn't join without a scratch, but join she did. With that, Olvidra has
begun to understand just how little she truly knew. Immediately upon joining
Olvidra was filled with a new kind of Negative Energy. More shadowed and
even more... dark or full of sin. Olvidra has been working hard to get
a grasp on new spells, new concepts, new feelings, and new stresses.
Still the thrill of adding new power and knowledge to what she had already
attained has been nothing short of breathtaking.
Olvidra plans to continue taking things slow and working the way she always
has. With thought, but also allowing the Spirits and currents to pull her
as they will. Olvidra first plans to perfect the new spells she has learned
so that she can properly call and understand the magic of the Scepter.
Mastery is always the first step. Then breaking down and examining each
and every molicule until the power is but a part of you.
Olvidra has become VERY interested in a type of tree known as Khar-Zhur.
In short, they are quickly becoming the main thing on her mind. Olvidra
plans to write a missive to Lord Morius letting Him know more about her
plans and ideas. But Trees are a new theme for Olvidra for the near future.
Otherwise, Olvidra plans to keep her head down and procees forward. She
will show due loyalty to the Scion for their wealth of knowledge and 'new'
power. Not something someone can claim or wear on their heads. But real and
true power that lives within.
Olvidra has no plans on leadership or grandeur, however life can be
quite chaotic, and should leadership be needed then she is prepared. But
that will be for Lord Morius to decide, of course.
