Description

A tall figure stands before you. Phasing in and out of existance at random, this creature has a chilling aura of evil about it. For a moment, this creature comes into full view and you see that it is a human female with light brown skin and delicate features. She stands just over six feet tall and moves with an elven grace. Her eyes beam a pure ocean blue color and seem to shimmer in the light. Her face is soft, delicate, and beautiful. Her body is long and tight with curves in all the right places. She appears youthful and vigorant, however her deep blue eyes tell a different tale. They show a deep wisdom that can only come through age. Covering her armor, she wears long blue robes covered with magical symbols. Her hair is jet black and untamed as it covers most of her face and runs wildly down her back. Just before she fades out of existance and back into the shadows again, you notice a scar or perhaps a birthmark in the shape of a crecent moon just under her left eye.

My name is Onya Stargaze. I was born in a tribe of water people
in the far north. Our tribe was is a well hidden one built off
the frozen iceburgs of that arctic climate. We believe in living
off the land and living free of the violence and struggle of the
mainland. Looking back, it is wasy to see the lies and disillusion
we clung to, but back then I truly believed that as well. Even
though our culture valued freedom, still women were treated as
second-class citizens. Usually expected to stay obedient to their
father until that obedience was passed to their husband. My father
was a fur trader and my mother handled the household duties. My
people, a term I use loosely, believed in spirits. Moon spirits,
water spirits, sky spirits... But the one in which we worshiped
was the Moon. The moon was the source of the tides and held a 
strong pull on my people. There were ceremonies held in which
we would hold mass gatherings and offer gifts for the moon and
its spirit. Sacrifices were held as well. Usually these sacrifices
would be animals such as seal and walrus... But sometimes there
would be others... Before I was born, it is said that there was
a massive shortage of food for months. Many people lost their
lives as a result. When I was born it is said that it was under
a full moon and as I came into the moonlight a mark of the crescent
moon appeared just under my left eye. It was seen as a sign from
the moon spirit and I was believed to be blessed. It was also just
after my birth that the food shortage ended and once again the seas
were alive with fish. None-the-less I still lived much the same as
the other girls in my tribe... Until I was 12 years old.

Weight of the World

On my 12th birthday a ceremony was held to commemorate my comming
of age, and elidgeability to be wed. The ceremony consists of
drinking from a gourd filled with water from a sacred spring.
However, when I went to drink from the gourd, it cracked right
down the middle, spilling the sacred water on the ground. Much
commotion was made but the conclusion was that due to my blessing
apon birth, I was not required to partake of the water. The ceremony
was soon forgotten and I continued on as a young adult. However,
something was changing about me. I could feel it. Not only was
I becomming a woman, I was becomming something more. I began to
feel the water all around me. I could feel it shifting about beneath
the Ice, and even the iceburgs themselves I could feel. I was
beginning to have my own ideas about life and my role in it. It
was as if something were calling to me. Something unseen, something
that seemingly only I could feel. I began to look around at the
treatment of the women of my tribe, and it made me angry. As I
grew, so did my anger and so did my powers. I soon realized that
my sensitivity with water was just the tip of the iceburg (no pun
intended). I was also able to start fires with just my mind. I
could create tiny sparks of electricity as well. I could even 
create little cyclones of air. The people of my tribe began to
look at me differently. They were affraid of me, and rightly so.
When I was fifteen I began making my own sacrifices to the moon.
Small creatures at first, but eventually they got larger until
I inevitably made my first human sacrifice. A foolish man who had
beaten one of my sisters when she did not answer him in time.

Weight of the World (continued)

My human sacrifices continued on every full moon. I would choose
some foolish man who wronged a woman for something small and 
stupid. It was easy in our tribe for there was always a man acting
foolishly. However, people had become suspicious of the disappearances
and I was forced to stop for a time. My father eventually chose
a suitor for me and I was wed on my 16th birthday. The man to
whom I was wed meant nothing to me and was chosen simply for his
status. He was the chief's son, you see. And even though I was
somewhat feared in my tribe, I was also the best looking of my
tribe as well. A month later, I was pregnant and my life changed
even more drastically. All throughout my pregnancy, I would have
visions. Sometimes I would have them even when I was awake, but
mostly they came to me in my dreams. They were strange and always
dealing with some far off place. I would see a huge tree surrounded
be giants and demons and fierce magi. I dreamed of a huge lavish
city burning wildly. I dreamed of another huge Tree, but this
time sitting alone in a deep old forest. This dream was most
vivid and I could feel a kindred bond with the tree. The last
dream I had just before the birth of my child. It was a dream in
which the world outside of my homeland was dying. The plants, the
trees, the soul, all withering away. When I awoke, it became
clear to me. There had to be one last sacrifice. This one had to
be an innocent. An innocent sacrifice for the future growth and
fertility of an innocent world. After my baby was born, I waited
until the cover of night and I quietly creeped away into the frozen
land with my baby cradled against my chest. When I was far enough
away, I said a silent prayer to a God that I did not yet know and
I stabbed my child with an old dagger. I then took a poker that
was used to stoke fires and I used my abilities to heat the sharp
end. I plunged it inside myself through the very slot used to
create life. The pain was excruciating. When the pain subsided
I crawled through the snow and ice to a boat that I had left
at the shore when I made my plan. With a short prayer, I untied
the boat and passed out.

A look to the future

When I awoke, I was aboard a large merchant ship headed for the
mainland. They had seen me adrift in the ocean and brought me 
onboard their ship. They knew nothing of who I was or what I had
done. There was no going back for me. Not after what I had done
to the chie'f grandson. They would look at me like a demon. But
I knew what had to be done. After reaching the mainland I took
my time and explored much of this vast world. I have come across
great cities and vast forests of all sizes. What I have seen of
the cities is corruption and greed. And more and more are my visions
becoming clearer. I see now that it is I that is destined to set
fire to these cities, and I have even heard of a group that shares
my views of the expansion of so-called "civilized" society.
I have also learned the name of the God of the Wilds to whom I
made my last sacrifice. The Lord of the Wilds goes by Sebeok and
in time perhaps I can offer him something worthy, for my sacrifices
have not ended just yet.

Demons of the Past

Over a decade has passed since I last put my story on these pages
and the tides of change have come and gone. I am 38 years old now
and the memories of the life I used to live in that frozen place
seem so distant, almost a dream. I still remember the story of
my birth, however, and how I was marked by the moon. For most of
my life I thought the story to be merely a fabrication by my
parents to add some meaning to my life, but the older I get the
more I realize it to be true. As I stated before I am 38 years old
and I feel the aging happening in my bones and in my muscles, 
though I still look the exact same as I did when I was 18. It seems
as if my body, or rather my appearance, does not age. I have spent
much time around druids and I have spoken with them about these
issues. From our talks I have learned that the moon holds certain
properties that affect more than just the tides of this world.
Under the moon, the powers of the druids become more effective
and under a full moon they are at their peak. This struck me as
very interesting for under the moon I have found that channeling
my magic is easier and requires less focus. One night, just to
test my theory, when the moon was full I shed all my clothing and
stood in an open field peering up at the moon. I took a deep
breath and closed my eyes. As the time passed I could feel the
moon's rays washing over me as if I were bathing in them. It was
so... calm. I hated it! I hated it because "calm" was not my life.
I fled that field and hid inside an abandoned cabin. I felt like a
fool. However, I just don't understand it. I have forsaken the life
I led before, and the moon and its spirits. Why then? Why does it
still bless me so? Perhaps... Perhaps it is not a blessing... That is
all for now.

Hope, in despair

Nearly twenty years have passed since I last opened this
journal. Funny, that when I do, I am always reminded of
my years spent in that far off icy prison I all a birthplace.
When I think of the freedom I have now opposed to the
trapped feeling I always had when I was there, I can
only smile and rejoice apon the decaying corpses of fallen
enemies. Although I speak of freedom, I am reminded of
my own curses. This scar I bear on my face tells the story.
A scar I was given at birth by the moon and it spirits.
Spirits that I have long since betrayed, but still haunt
me now. In the years since I last put my tale to parchment,
I have aged only in spirit and wisdom. On the outside,
however, I still appear the same as I did when I was but
a young woman. Some may see this as a gift, but it is an
illusion. Perhaps something the moon has cooked up to 
always make me remember my betrayal. No matter what the
reason I tried to forget about the problem for a time and
focus on eliminating those who stood against me. A focus
which has brought me much joy. Feeding the earth with
corpse after corpse has proven to bring life back to this
world. Which is to please my Lord. Also, it has given me
a chance to come across rare, magical, and sometimes very
dark items. A small amount of these items were pulled
from the depths of the Abyss. A fire orb which I have
held for some time has shown me much about the ways of
fire and through further examination I have improved my
own arts. Also a sinister crown, which has shown me something
more... It is here tht my tale gets truly interesting, for
after years of careful research of such rare items I may
have discovered an answer to my riddle. A way to defeat
this curse and perhaps even rid myself of the moon all
together. Either way, I have reached one conclusion: I
must search the very deapths of Hell for my answer. And
if I do that. Then maybe, just maybe, I'll find peace.

Inescapable Dreams.

Truly, I walk the path of the Reaver. Fire, Strength, death.
These things I must claim, or stray from my path and perish.
I have walked this path ever since I stumbled out of that
Icy prison and sailed across a frozen ocean to this land.
I have faced for after foe, and conquered all. However,
now I face a new enemy. One that I cannot see, hear, or
touch... My own dreams. They attempt to capture me every
time I stray off into my slumber. I find that when I
do, I lose myself in the dreams and can hardly find
my way back. Perhaps it is my own attempt to throw myself into the
deapths of the inferno that has pulled me so far into my dreams.
Perhaps something even more sinister than me is calling to me. I
have yet to find out. I will explore these dreams to find the truth.
I must... Or perish.
