Description
A tall svirfneblin stands a proud 4'1" before you, her
round face bracketed by pale hair which flops down over
her large, endlessly deep black eyes.
Her features seem more male than female and she has a
male gait to her step.
She carries off a confident air, and you can see from the
arsenal strapped to her that it is no show.
Her skin is rough - pale grey with white flecks, and
beginning to show the that time has had its way with her.
In certain light, her skin seems almost reflective.
Her body is covered with a tight fitting cloak, but you
can tell by the bulk that underneath must be some kind
of heavy armor.
Role
From the beginning of time.

Since the beginning of time, it is believed, the Dakolar name
is synonymous with a clan of Svirfneblin reknown for their ability
in the forging of bladed weapons.
A skill learned, according to legends, detailing a joining of forces between
this Svirfneblin clan and that of a Dwarvern village to push back
groups of Duergar scavenging parties which were preying on their homes.
Never the fighters of great battles, the Dakolar were always ready to
work with other clans to make sure there was enough weaponry.
Most Svirfneblin males born into this clan were taught the skills
of their forefathers, to forge blades. However Orasa was different.
He wanted to USE these weapons, he wanted to see above the Underdark.
He began to teach himself swordplay in his free time, when he had the
chance, he would study other clan members in battle, other races in
their fights.
Then one day, during a particularly gruesome battle, Orasa disappeared from his
clan, and joined a passing band of mercenaries.
Orasa decided, he needs to know more of these vast lands... to understand others
roles in the world, the items within it, and to master the weapons
he was so familiar with making.
And so it began, from the beginning of time... Orasas' time.
...and to the roads...

Orasa travels the lands of Thera, exploring many of the areas mapped by
past adventurers. The maps provided from the academy stay in his container
ready to be referred to at a moments notice.
In exploring the vast expanse of the worlds, Orasas mind is opened - whilst
most of the adventuring he has done alone, he soon realizes that he needs to
travel with others to visit places too dangerous to see alone, and to discover
unmapped places.
As Orasa has not enough knowledge of the politics of Thera, his chosen position
is one of ambivalence. He would accompany all those he sees, and assist if required
in all circumstances apart from those with political motivations, or murder.
Even though Orasa is, by now, experienced in some forms of battle, he does not
see the the point in needlessly killing others, so tends to shy away from
those kinds of situation. Not through cowardice, but knowing that he may need
their knowledge at some point.
So through these long roads Orasa continues to travel, more learned and confident.
Traveling with many others from all walks, from other explorers to those who defend
the balance; from emperors of Thera to those who wantonly flout the rules of
civilization; from those who bathe in the brightness of the light to those who dwell
in the deepest of shadows.
It is some fine balancing act to keep all parties appeased, but Orasa has a keen mind
and no preconceptions, and to a certain degree, some innocence which seems to lend
a kind of leeway with most people he meets.
...and to the subject of weaponry...

"The choice is simple, for you, Orasa.", the guildmaster in Galadon almost barks,
he continues.. "Axes, daggers, long-axes or swords... You said you know your blades!".
And there stands Orasa, his keen mind mulling over the benefits of each mastery. "Tell me
again about the skills I would aquire from mastering swords." he asks the guildmaster.
The guildmaster sighs... this may be a long decision - but finally for the reason that
the sword is both a defensive and offensive weapon, it is chosen. The first life making
decision has been made.
"Try to have a think about what you may choose next... start now, please" says the
guildmaster, "others need my time too!" he finishes with a wry smile.
"I already decided," grins Orasa, "to choose to master the dagger next... It weighs me
down less, less conspicuous...".
The guildmaster smiles and nods towards Orasa. "You're learning... now get experienced."
So Orasa goes... he learns and is quickly on his way to becoming a powerful ally to many.
...legacies of times gone by...

Again, back in the guild in Galadon - Orasa, even more upright, confident and aware
than ever...
"So, guildmaster, let me tell you a little story...", says Orasa, passing a flagon of
ale to the giantess.
"A time when I was under the caves, in the forge, I heard a legend from the mouths of many
dwarf folk about a battle long ago, where they fought for their lives against a merciless
band of Duergar... almost mountainous in strength compared to others of their race. They
wore heavy armor, but aside from that, they knew each and every inch of that armor and which
pieces should be used to defend certain types of attack."
Nodding knowingly, the guildmaster turns to Orasa. "I think I know what you are asking Orasa,
but I need you to say it. I can help you remember any of the legacies of the past...".
Orasa peers into the eyes of the giantess, and asks, "Tell me about the legends of the Gates
of the Forge, so that I may be stronger, and heartier whilst I am exploring."
The guildmaster simply nods at Orasa, and his mind flashes with visions of past battles,
he seems to inhabit another body, someone elses body, as a specator.
the smell of blood, sweat, urine and faeces seem to fill his nostrils as he relives the
experience of the warrior past. Gleaning knowledge from him, watching how he examine his
armor before every battle, how they move their body to make sure that each blow it takes
is taken in the right place.
And is suddenly back... seemingly in the same place, but feeling slightly different at the
same time.
...on the subject of legacies...

"You again!" chuckles the giantess... Orasa smiles back at her, "I am... progressing
well, I think." he replies. I have discovered new places - uncharted places and now
I think I have earned my right to tell another story."
The giantess motions for Orasa to continue...
"Lean times, giantess. I have heard of those who are able to stave off the affects of
hunger and thirst... indeed, even pushing the very thought of it to the back of their minds."
says Orasa. "To know how to make my supplies last would be invaluable, but to be able to
heal quicker would be... beneficial, shall I say?". "Teach me the Whispers of the Great Siege."
he finishes.
Once more, the giantess looks deep into Orasas' eyes, and again, suddenly, he is sharing
someone elses form.
The sight is grim, most people lie on the floor, unmoving. The smell of death and disease
is almost overpowering, but Orasa and his host feels the overwhelming desire to live like never before.
With the horses and pets eaten long ago, there is not even manure to pick through for seeds to
eat.
Thoughts of his aching belly, the dry and cracked lips seem to slip from his mind as it
is announced, another wave of attack to defend against. No chance of food or drink if the enemy slays you..
Orasa and his host seem to come to a decision... one last meal before death, and almost feel sad for those
they defend against, and their kin, when they find out they became the next meal.
Again, back in the room, same place, but a stangely full, satiated feeling.
...across these lands...

Any number of warriors might become a hero of the lands, and then feel
there is nothing left for them to conquer. Orasa, however, has his sights
firmly set on learning the lands. This whole expanse that is called Thera.
With the nag of curiosity always at the back of his mind, Orasa explores.
"So where have you been then!?" grumbles the Galadon guildmaster. "I can
honestly say, I have traveled to every place in the world." boasted Orasa.
"From the cold of the Wastelands, to the heat of the deserts, from
the Jade mountains to the odd garden on a fantastic vessel. I have been
most everywhere. Although... I know of some places I cannot easily reach alone."
The guildmaster smiles wryly "It does not become you, especially, Orasa to be
so overt in displaying your achievements, however I will still offer you this. "
Seek out a tower through a forest of conifer, you may find something worth seeing."
And with that, Orasa nods, turns and leaves - ready again to travel across these lands.
