Description

Serenity shines out from this elf's flashing sapphire eyes: their unblinking composure could be described as unsettling, while those orbs of lumionous blue alertly scan the surroundings at hand. His lean face is framed by a silky mane of wavy, raven black hair that falls to gentle ebon curls well below his shoulders, the high cheekbones and pointed ears poke through, though, to catch a flash of sunlight. Thin pink lips contrast starkly against his soft white skin. His smile is attactive and soothing. Glimpsed beneath the movement of shifting green and brown armors are tight, corded muscles stretched over a tense, wiry frame of over six feet tall. A hard look at the elf shows that...

Role

Something More: Travel with a Jolly Monk

Added Sat Mar 15 12:41:49 2014 at level 1:
There I was sitting behind the bar serving another round to a band of
drunken sots, man can they put them down! Day in and out I had done
the same thing; pouring drinks, cleaning up spills and listening to the
rambles of every down trodden drunk that came into the bar. Every
afternoon for five years I had served at that bar every afternoon.
Then, late one night as I was cleaning the up throw-up and spilt ale for
the umpteenth time, a realization hit me.

This realization started out as a question. I asked myself, "Why am I
doing this?" A simple question at first, but like a tiny spark, it had
the potential to be something more. That spark kindled the flames of the
next questions. Was this all there is? Is there more to life? Is this
my greatest potential? These questions weighed on me the next day at the
bar. With each brew served the answers became more evident to me. No,
this was not all there is. Yes, there is more to life. No, this is not
my greatest potential. That ale was the last one I served. I walked out
of the bar and never returned to it. I was worthy of more.

One day in my travels I happened upon a monk who was traveling back to
his monastery, He was a merry man with a health love for alcohol. His
rotund figure jostled up the path with vigor of one half his sizes.
Something inside me pulled to follow him, a feeling that if I followed
him, I may learn something. He smiled at me and waved at me to fall in
with him as he traveled when I questioned his destination. On the way
the way to the monastery he spoke of his many adventures and travels. My
eyes must have been dinner plates when I heard some his stories. There
was SO much more to the world than the bar to which I had anchored myself
to for so long. It was a month before we arrived at the monastery high
in, the Gulta Mountains or so he said they were call. A month before
that I didnt even know what a mountain was let alone have the concept of
a mountain range.

Looming before me was one of the most massive constructions of stone that
I had ever seen. Three massive towers stretched into the sky like giant
obelisks. The three of them joined together at their base in a massive
construct of buildings and walls. The only entrance, a massive portcullis
of wrought iron, stood half raised before me. I gaped in awe as I walked
through. Once inside the possibilities in life would unfold before me.

The Gulta Monastery: Books & Visions

Added Sat Mar 15 12:42:38 2014 at level 1:
I spent many years at the Gulta Monestary . There I was educated on the
world of Thera; the eastern regions over the mountains, all the sentient
races, many flora, and fauna. I spent my mornings engaged in martial
training with the one of the several sects of the Gultarian Monks. Each
one of the sects was devoted to different studies; the martial arts,
various arcane arts, and others devoted to literature, exploration, and
philosophy. I myself loved the martial sects.

After growing to maturity in the monestray, I was approached by the same
jolly monk, whom still remained quite rotund even after all these years.
Oddly, enough he didnt seem to age like I had. He told me how pleased
he was with my progress over the years. He followed up with how it was
time for me to grow as a monk. To do that, I needed to move outside
these walls and experience the world. In so doing I would reach new
levels of enlightenment. I would reach a purer self, and better self.

I left the Monastery with two destinations laid out for me to start my
paths on; the Paladins guild to guide my body and mind and continue my
martial training, and the shrine of a patron to continue on my
journey for spiritual enlightenment.

The Open World: Ebb and Flow of Darkness

Added Sat Mar 15 12:43:47 2014 at level 1:
Enrollment into the Paladin Guild was a bit of an eye opener to the
plague of evil that had risen in this age; the Scarab rises, the empire
conquers, and tribunals with ulterior motives to protecting and serving.
The Paladins pulled no punches as they painted the seriousness picture
of the world. They both called us and empowered us to rally the forces
of light and fight evil where it lurked. They instructed day in and out
in the code and the martial abilities as well as the communes to the gods
of light. When the time was right we would go to one of the gods and
receive their blessing to continue as a paladin under the banner of the
god they chose. I embraced this calling and chose to use my talents to
Marshal the light together to fight the darkness. To wield a weapon
large and long that could be thrust high into the aid and be a focal
point for forces in disarray.

I know I will both win and lose battles in the war against evil and found
that we are not the sum of these battles but the strength of our Courage and
passion to the endeavored path. A battle lost is nothing more than a
lesson learned. A battle won is reinforcement of tactics sound. A life
saved from the dark forces ill intent was a step in the right direction.
I will strive to be where ever a good soul is needed and courage, passion,
and dedication will see it through. I go about strengthening the light and
battering back the darkness so that in my lifetime I will see the ebb of
darkness which once again flowed onto the battlefield of life.

Life is fluid: Dedication day.

Added Sun Mar 16 08:11:12 2014 at level 12:
Life brings new and ultimate changes in our minds. I trained day in and
out with the certainty of dedicating myself to champion and be a banner
for my fellows. With each day the realization that I just was not going
to be strong enough to hold up such weapons against an onslaught was
disconcerting to say the least. With some guidance from my mentors and
guildmasters the showed me how I couold be that same banner for my
fellows to rally around. Dedicating myself to the learn the traits of
the monk I would be able to make use of my mind and body in such a way
that it was more natural to me. At first I was hesitant to the task and
often fell back to my training with the staff and polearm, but with each
passing day the choice to be a monk is more apart of me than anything I
could have imagined.

My life has been a happy once since starting on my journey and although
there are evils in the world, we still need to hold on to those things
that give us the fortitute to stand up against evil, and the temperance
to not fall into the the traps of evil and become one ourselves.

Trufekin has befriended me in the guild. He is a shield dedicate and is
rigid with his training schedules. I guess that is to be expected out a
dwarf. They show the same focus on what ever it is they chose to craft,
be it war, armor, or weapons. They want to forge masterpieces. He is a
good friend to have and I'm happy to call him one. Especially when the
drinks are flowing back and forth across the tables.

13 things - 13 Happinesses (part 1)

Added Tue Mar 25 23:23:56 2014 at level 33:
As was instructed by Whiysdan I gathered together items from around Thera
that represented happiness to me. So, in my own particular order I have
recorded them and how they remind me of my happiness.

In our childhood we have memories of learning, love, imagination, and
most of all happiness. For me, those memories give me pause to smile.
So that "toy horse" represents the solid bases for happiness that all of
us have the potential to start with.

The "signet ring of the telenius family" is a tragic tale, but I dare say
it wasn't always this way. I think that at some point before the ire of
power and greed made their way into the hearts of the telenius boy that
there was a love and bond. I myself have a great love for my family and
my fond memories of them are a great source of happiness and a mend to a
troubled hearts.

The "feast" laid out before you with all the different aromas, and tastes
and textures and trimmings warms even a frost giant's heart. I too
submit myself to the same joys of the feast, and so I had the great chefs
of the Herald prepare a feast for 13 people, or one with the appetite of
13 people.

"Wine" through out the time of elves has always been a preferred drink,
and it is because it entices with its aroma - like a flower. It's taste
is both bitter and sweet like many of the coveted citrus fruits that grow
in areas that maintain a warm and dare I say, loving atmosphere. Its
ability to relax the body and mind are yet one of the great gifts it
brings to and is without a doubt source of happiness for many, not just
elves like myself.

Knowledge and learning cannot easily be summed into one item, but I think
this "Thick Book on Flowers and Herbs" will for me represent that
happiness. In that, like flowers, knowledge when cultivated and placed
where it will be nurtured will blossom and grow to a splendid sight that
can be simply breath-taking.

Fellowship with my like-minded fellows is something like the 100 year old
cognac. For it is something that needs to be taken in slowly and
savored. To spend long hours discussing the knowledge that one has
gleaned and the hopes of being able to expand it and share it with your
friends is time VERY well spent.

Knowledge cannot always be gleaned from books, but rather must be
experienced first hand and so my traveling boots, which are nearly worn
through. Represent the explorer in me and the happiness of seeing new
places and learning things first hand.

13 things - 13 Happinesses (part 2)

Added Tue Mar 25 23:27:04 2014 at level 33:
The Gultarian Monastery was a massive work of stone and epee-center of
knowledge and fellowship. When I was exploring the monastery of the
Moudrilar monks I found an ornate looking spoon, and that spoon reminded
me of the many feasts and dinners that were prepared by some of the
finest gentlemen I should have had the pleasure to meet. Fine memories
indeed of that place which I call home.

It wouldn't do to mention home and not mention the joyous monks that
populated my home, each one so full of life and personality. In the
monastery high in the mountains the weather can grow colder than touch of
death, and to fight that cold we monks wore heavy robes and kept warm
with hot stones and roaring fires. The hooded-robes remind me of the
monks to whom I call friends and family.

I was so certain of my dedication to the paladin's code and how I would
rally forces under neither a banner against the forces of evil. Yet as
my knowledge grew so did my realization that I wouldn't be a Champion
like I thought. I would yet again be a "monk" in dedication to my guild.
Though it was not what I had planned it was a happy turning point and a
dedication that was much more natural to me than I realized. So the
"practice staff" is a reminder that change can bring a happiness that one
did not foresee.

With the new realization of my talents with my fists and foresight I
found myself delighted in the mastery of said talents. Many days spent
in pursuit of the perfection of my art have made me more a master of
myself than ever before. Never would I have thought a century ago how I
could make my body move in such intricate and coordinated moves. The
brass knuckles are a symbol of that knowledge and how the mastery of this
art makes me happy.

It is without a doubt a travesty when an innocent suffers at the hands of
evil and to be able to offer protection in some way shape or form sets me
at ease and brings a smile on my face, even if all I can do is give them
a blessing of luck from Whiysdan. So the potion of divine protection
represents the hand of strength that Whiysdan bestows on me to be able to
protect the good people of this land.

Evil without a doubt needs to be put to an end, but it is not wholesale
murder and blood enraged devastation we are unleashing upon the world.
We bring an end to their wickedness with justice that is both righteous
and final and so the Sword of Justice represents the happiness I have
when I bring evil to justice and send them to the heavens to be judged in
finality.

100 gold - free reign to spend

Added Tue Mar 25 23:28:29 2014 at level 33:
It was asked what I would do with 100 gold should I receive it and after
much thought I have both embraced the impulsiveity in me and the wisdom
in me. If I were to have 100 gold to spend on whatever I wished I would
first apply the wisdom in my mind to outfit and supply my fellow men at
arms with the arms needed to bring justice to the wicked of the world.
After, having armed them sufficiently, I would spend the gold on feast
and drink that would warm all of our hearts and raise morale. It is a
simple and thoughtless way to spend the money, but in honesty I would be
quite happy at the good deed I did.

Fight Hard - Play Hard

Added Tue Mar 25 23:29:32 2014 at level 33:
It has been raised quite often that my candid demeanor and happiness does
not quite seem to fit the mindset of the squires and marans. I embrace
the juxtaposition that I pose as a squire. There is no greater duty and
hardship to embrace than bring the swift justice to the wicked souls that
currently plague Thera. Yet at the same time when justice has been
dispatched and the flow of darkness ebbs we should take the time to
replenish ourselves and I embrace that idea heartily with fellowship
alongside those who embrace happiness and wish to spend some time in the
revelry of drinking, eating, and story telling.

I think that my being a squire and future maran will help to break the
mold of the stern and bleak minded who think that they are nothing more
than a sword that is swung at evil and has no other purpose... To those
that believe that when evil is gone they too must be sheathed until such
a time that there would be need to unsheathe them on evil. I say that we
must fight hard and play hard!
