Description

A pale behemoth is before you, a relatively thin cloud giant woman of nearly thirteen feet. Her white, stringy hair hangs in her face, damp with sweat. Large, unblinking blue eyes stare out from behind the veil of her unruly mane. Her skin is pocked with strange pinkish-red scars, mottled across her entire body. Around her neck, a thick loop of hemp rope dangles, and what looks like a large stuffed creature hangs from it, like some giant-sized child's toy being used as an amulet.

BACKGROUND

Ostre Voraskr was born to a tribe of cloud giants who lived amongst the Tahril
Mountains. Once she was of age, she was, per her tribe's custom, she was
married in an arranged ceremony after her family was given a handsome dowry.
Her husband, Lumrir, was a successful lumberjack, close to her age, and
handsome to cloud giant eyes. Despite the arranged marriage, she came to love
her husband, and soon bore a baby daughter.

One day, a stranger came to their quaint (but rather large) cottage amongst
the peaks of the Tahrils. Swathed in the robes of a Tower of Sorcery magi, he
claimed that he had been waylayed by bandits in the Araile desert, and begged
for succor. Both Ostre and Lumrir welcomed the stranger to their home, fed
him, and gave him a clean bed of straw in their barn to rest.

Ostre woke that night to screams from outside the cabin. Stumbling out, she
found her beloved husband being drained of his life by dark magic wielded by
the stranger. Howling, she charged at the sorcerer, who glanced at her briefly
and uttered a word. She fell the ground as sores opened upon her body, oozing
blood. Lying on the ground, panting in pain, she watched as her husband's
withered husk was swept aside by the sorcerer, who then disappeared into the
cabin. Her eyes were dimming as he came out, clutching her infant daughter in
both arms (and struggling with the overly large baby's weight). He looked at
Ostre coldly, nodded once, then uttered another word and vanished, taking her
daughter with him.

Ostre somehow recovered over the next few days from the scourge the
necromancer had inflicted her with. Enraged and heartbroken, she has set out
to discover what has happened to her child, and to take vengeance upon those
who wield such dark power.

TRAITS
- Ostre takes a liking to most non-magi 'small folk' (dwarves, duergar,
gnomes, svirnefbli, and goblins) because they often remind her of her 'bairn'.
- Ostre misunderstands sorcery in Thera, and believes all magi operate under the auspice of Tower of Sorcery, and thus blames them all for her lost child.
- Ostre is quite obvious when she lies.
- Ostre has a particular hatred for 'bone charmers' (necromancers) for obvious
reasons.
- Ostre is generally respectful to any non-magi she meets, even if they may be opposed to the Village or her at that moment.

GOALS
- Above all, discover what happened to her 'bairn'. She will sometimes
interrogate random magi about their knowledge of the event.
- Learn all the secrets the Tower of Sorcery offers.
- Prove herself in battle - she never wanted to be a warrior, and she has a
bit of imposter syndrome.
