Role
What is Nature?
Added Sat Mar 27 03:49:52 2010 at level 10:
What is Nature? What is "The Wilds"? Some define it as what used to exist
and seek to return it to what it was. Other describe Nature as something
that is in combat with Magic, and that the two stand at opposite spectrums
of the war, but this fela sees something completely different.
Nature is all of it and how it all works together. Nature is the chaos
of change as forces from all directions are incorporated into an end
product. Thus for example, conjuration is not "Unnatural" it is just
another aspect of Nature and its all encompassing chaos and beauty. And
just as conjuration magic has an affect on a natural creature, Nature
as it is defined by others affects and changes conjured creatures. That
is the cycle and how Nature works.
This fela was born under the sphere of Para-Elements because she has
such an outlook on life. Paraloiut loves and dwells within the theory
of Evolution. How things come about when influenced by many things within
the Theran realm as a whole, not just a thin definition of Nature. She
especially loves insects, bugs, and vermin, not because they are
attractive or glorious, but because of HOW QUICKLY they can evolve.
Para-Elements are an expression of Evolution and what Paraloiut loves
about it so much. The fact that Para and Quasi elements are not "pure"
but instead a mixture of many to create something even more powerful
or unique.
This same theory applies to how Paraloiut views Nature and Evolution.
She loves to see how something "Pure" in the eyes of others, when mixed
with something else, can become something greater than its parts. And
truly believes this is how Nature works. What others see as "corruption"
Para sees as "Evolution". Here is an example of Para's thoughts.
Insects and Vermin are masters of Evolution, and the influence of,
let us say necromancy as a magic, can change the course of an insects'
path. A small leech fro the swamp does well when it sucks blood and
feeds on it, but expose it to negative plane energy, and through a few short
generations of the leech family line that was exposed (short also
because the generations come about every week), and that leech can
change its role in nature to not only feed off blood, but be
necromatically heal itself through the drawing of blood, like that
of a vampiric touch spell. This leech and its family line is now
bettered than the original parts. Other leeches not of this bloodline
die from wounds, do not heal as quickly, but these necromatic leeches
are now amazing creatures of how Nature works.
That is Nature, that is Evolution. And insects and vermin express
this aspect of Nature the best and the quickest, and bring Para the
quickest satisfaction. Why wait? And because of this love of insects
and Evolution, Para manipulates insects, vermin, bugs as a student
marshdwelling beastmaster ranger of the lands. She loves bugs and
she is going to show the rest of the lands what she can do with that love.
How Paraloiut became Paraloiut
Added Sat Mar 27 04:14:32 2010 at level 10:
Paraloiut is an old term, in felar, it means "One who Freezes by Stare".
Paraloiut got this name when she was very young because of her striking
emerald eyes and how they would, when she was allowed to join pack
hunts, freeze a deer in place when her gaze locked with the creature's.
It is rumored those who have these striking eyes will be loners and
that is exactly what Paraloiut became.
Her interests, while young, in a pack of felar raiders out of the frozen
wastes, did not lie with the pack. She could care less what they did
or how they entertained themselves. When they would go on raids against
the frost giants, she would sneak out of the frozen wastes and spend
her time in nearby marshes near Galadon to the west. Unlike other
felar, she did not mind the water and spent hours digging through
muck to find insects and vermin of her liking.
This interest became an obsession and through this obsession she discovered
that insects near the Tower of High Sorcery and High Lords Keep had
different aspects than those farther away. Investigating more
she learned that this was most likely due to the magic contained
within each, and that through the influence of magic these insects
evolved into something either far more superior, or far more inferior.
Those inferior died off, while the superior consumed and took over
those that were weaker.
What was more interesting to Para was how quickly these changes happened.
She woud introduce a bee hive near the High Lord's Keep, and within
weeks the bees would be changed. How quickly this evolution happened
was only seen in insects and vermin, not larger creatures that took
years to reproduce. Para began to manipulate insects for her own
uses and through time, she just wandered away from her pack in the
Frozen Wastes and took up residence in the swamps. There she convinced
herself that her name "Paraloiut" actually meant "Change Before Eyes".
Evolutionary Studies of Shadow and Nature
Added Tue Apr 13 18:20:53 2010 at level 41:
Evolution continues endlessly, with or without the help of any Outlander
or Scion. Evolution itself is the harshest taskmaster, as she has no
feelings or care for your survival, only that you survive, and to survive
long enough to procreate, and that is it. If you live longer, it doesn't
matter to evolution. Your purpose is done and are simply aging food
to feed the next generation.
Thus brings me to my studies. I am a self proclaimed Evolutionist and
have a broad mindset on the Planes and Thera and how they interact.
Evolution works on a planar scale, involves all planes, and the good
of one Plane does not hold higher than another. The Planes must
survive to maintain and reproduce, or in this case, continue to
recreate themselves to stay in existence. Failure to do so leaves
a Plane vulnerable to invasion, take over, and destruction. Just
as an ant must build a strong nest, so does a Plane to guarantee
its domain is not breached by others looking to feed or invade.
I have taken up the study of the insects of this Plane solely because
they evolve the quickest, and are therefore best for study in my
unfortunately short lifespan compared to other creatures (damned elves).
So exposure to the Shadow Plane grants quick mutation and results. I can
then extrapolate what will happen to larger creatures, even humanoids
here if the creatures of the Shadow Plane come here like red ants into
a black ant hill.
One such study involves Phase Spiders of the Spiderhaunt woods and
exposure to the Shadow Plane. What I have found is most interesting.
There is a very high incidence of survival, partially due, I believe,
to their ability to both manipulate phase and thus plane, but also
their incedious nature as a Spider. Of all creatures I study, the spider
seems to adopt the best to the Shadows. Those Phase Spiders that survive
exposure are able to step freely between Shadow Plane and Thera without
need of a portal. Their phasing does not take them now to the Astral or Etheral,
but to the Shadow Plane itself. There is already a cross over, perhaps
through Phase Spidesr a secret can be found to walk between the both and
this is where the final portal will open.
All deems more study, but I move closer and closer with more experiments.
I find it interesting that most Scions completely reject the Natural world while
there is so much to learn and the secrets in Nature are sometimes darker than
any magic can produce.
Subsistance off the Flesh of Others
Added Wed Jun 2 11:47:56 2010 at level 51:
Through extensive experimentation and work with the vermin, this
fela has graduated to feeding only off only adventurers she
has slain personally. There are times of feast and times of famine
but she feels ingesting their meat and blood allows her to
ingest the parasites within them as well as what strengthens them
to better understand how they develop and prey on their host. She
understands this is a dangerous process, as vermin do not usually
care whom they infect and kill, but through this experimentation
she is developing an intimate understanding of their life and
evolutionary process.
Thus through this direct experimentation with her own flesh, she
is feeling the evolution of the vermin within her and she has
become a host and hive for thousands of generations of insects, parasites
and vermin. One must buy into their own experimentation and
she has done so with all she can offer.
Experimentation on Orcs: The Para'Orcwalker
Added Fri Jul 9 12:59:00 2010 at level 51:
For a long time I have experimented on vermin, understanding how
they interact with the Shadow Plane. Their quick life cycle and
relentless ability to reproduce have made them excellent subjects
to understand evolution of creatures with the Shadow Plane introduced
to their flesh. As we know, many die, but the few that survive
seem stronger, more powerful, and higher on the food chain than their
"untainted" comparisons. Through this experimentations, I have reached
a level of understanding to pursue large creatures, thus my study of
orcs.
Orcs, despite their brutality, seem the most open to mutation and the
influences of the Shadow Plane. They are born out of corruption and
thus do not have the morale compass that usually limits other humanoids
from mutating quickly. In addition, orcs, despite their bruteness and
seemingly stupid nature, are deeply bound in the magics of blood and
descecration. Both of which make them even better candidates since
their bodies vessel these powers easily.
Therefore, I have found, through my experimentation a process of which
to infuse and mutate a humanoid of this Plane with Shadow Plane essence
to create a hybrid nightwalker orc. And this process is as follows:
1. Gain an unholy weapon with at least one soul.
2. Find a willing orc. A Mundunga would be best, but any willing one will do.
3 Sit them in a place of cursed nature, Ysigrath is the perfect location.
4. Gather needed elements from the Chasm. A necromancer, a conjurer, a healer
and an invoker.
5. Have on hand the flesh of many powerful adventurers of Thera to steel the orc's flesh.
Now. Place the orc at the center of the descecrated location of power. From
there layer the orc with the sanctuary and invoker shields needed. The
next step is to feed the orc to satisfaction (from absolute hunger) the
flesh of the powerful Theran denizons. Once full, the conjurer will bring
a forsaken portal. The orc will then have to survive against the onslaught
of the portal as myself breaks the unholy weapon with one soul above his
head so that it releases the damned soul which draws the Shadowy powers
toward the orc and into him, bringing the powers, the soul, and the
corruption within his flesh. At that point, the orc must be killed or
commit suicide to finalize the ritual.
Out of his flesh will come the Para'Orcwalker. A create of absolute horrible
power and a mixture of both Planes. The orc itself will be left with some
residual power as well, at the disgression of the Nightwalkers. Then I will
study the Para'Orcwalker as it rampages across Thera, consuming as it goes.
This experiment will allow me to learn more of the evolutionary ways of
orcs, but also discover a way to permenantly bind a nightwalker to this
plane without it being limited by circles. We then let them breed and
forsake opening a portal, we will terraform this Plane from the inside out.
Too Soon to Tell: The Aftermath of the Experiment (Part 1)
Added Sat Jul 31 11:56:35 2010 at level 51:
A carapace covered book stands before you, its pages made of dragonfly wings
bound together to create a clearish writing page. Upon the makeshift pages are
these writings:
"The flesh still warm from the corpse of Shenkreth sacrified. The ache of the
lost parts of my own soul that I dipped into the experiment I can still feel
But thereis nothing I would have changed.
The experiment did not happen without its own problems. Chaos and nature had
their plays in this, but this is something I expected. First, Ishtavix did not
even show up at the appointed time to perform the experiment, leaving a very
bad taste in my mouth. I will make sure that one's time in the Chasm is short
lived.
Next, Shenkreth, the orc which was the crux of the experiment, in his own
brutish foolishness, could not look upon the Sun and Moon and know the correct
time to show, despite given exact instructions. He showed almost three days
late, but most of my scholars were about, so the experiment went on.
Without Ishtavix, a void in the ritual existed, which I ad-hoc brought in
Mortanis, who played the part of slayer of the orc well enough and slightly
minimized the avenues of failure.
And thus we were gathered, within Ysigrath, and upon the fall of dark the
experiment began. Glastrom, faithful and expert as always, played his part
perfectly and did as was needed. The orc shook in his boots but moved
forward with the experiment. He consumed the tainted and prepared meat of
Voko, as well as the leaders of every other cabal of power in this Plane.
Thus infusing his flesh with the fortitude to endure the direct exposure
to the Shadow Plane. The shadows tore through the fiber of the orc, infusing
and mutating his flesh. At the correct time, I shattered the weapon that
held the nine pieces of my own soul which then swirled to join with the
orc's body and finishing the binding of the Shadows.
Unknown to me, is that the destruction of the weapon during the ritual
almost killed Loshnak, the one I bargained with to gain my own pieces of
my soul. An interesting side effect.
With the bindings complete to the flesh and soul of the orc, Mortanis
ended the orc's life and quickly after such, Arnidel, who had freshly
learned a more powerful animation incantation than known to any other
necromancer (thanks to my influence with the Shadows), brough the
flesh back to life, infusing it with the final needed negative energy.
The zombie body then broke open, and out of the shell or cocoon of the
orc flesh came the para'orcwalker. Screeching it quickly slid into the
dark waters of Ysigrath, needing to rest, and so that is where it is left.
Successful but to what extent? Will it come forth at a later time and
be what I expect, or more? Or less? Whatever the outcome, know I worked
with the most forbidden and emerged successful."

Too Soon to Tell: The Aftermath of the Experiment (Part 2)
Added Sat Jul 31 12:08:52 2010 at level 51:
"There are plans within this plan and depending on its success I have
a further goal, the final goal, work I hope to complete before my old
age. I wish to grant the leaders of the Chasm the ability to perform
this ritual, without so much preparation, upon any worthy orc they wish.
Thus being able to bind the orcs to the scepter and turn them into
mutated para'orcwalkers, or Shadow Orcs.
My legacy will be such. To have the Chasm able to slowly turn this Plane
into the Shadow Plane and allow the coming Eternal night to be through
breeding as well as through conjuration and portal creation. By the
time the Chul'gra arrive, this Plane may well be already theirs.
Thus I have begun preliminary experiments from what I have learned
from this endeavor and started focusing my study on an ancient magic
called "Biomancy". I feel that this is the final component to wrapping
up the magic of the experiment into one single incantation. A spell
bound to the Scepter, "Evolve Shadow Orc". This Biomancy, I am certain,
will allow this to happen. And when it is called upon a willing orc,
this incantation will bind its flesh with the Scepter, not bringing
them into the Fold, but evolving them into a para'orcwalker with
a certain amount of ability to control. They will gain certain
aspects of the nightwalkers, of which I theorize will be as follows:
One: A Shadow Orc will gain the fangs of a nightwalker, being able
to poison upon any kind of savage feeding.
Two: Two: When not wielding a weapon, their hands are clawed and will
be able to perform the tearing fury a nightwalker does to cause blood loss.
Three: Being bound to the Scepter means they will be able to hear
when the Nightwalker needs them, as well as unharmed by Scion scholars
with spells of mass destruction.
Four: The ability to call nightfist to augment their abilities in battle.
This is all speculation. I must study the first para'orcwalker to
better understand the transformation and see if this kind of incantation
is possible. I also study the magic of Biomancy with much fervor
to see if that is the binding magic I am looking for."
The entry is simply marked with one word repeated multiple times to
create a perfect hexagon.
