Description

Short at five foot four, her commanding presence more than makes up for her lack of physical height. Though petite her frame holds no sign of frailty. Rather, she has developed the true curves of a woman who has passed beyond being 'just a girl'. Her skin has been kissed by the sun, showing an olive brown that gives the impression of a healthy glow that always seems shy of one who has spent so much time under the blaze of the Theran star to bring themselves to the appearance of wearing leather beneath their leather jerkin. Her garment consist of mainly simple robe, emroidered with five consentric stars, touching at their point giving the appearance of a circle in everlasting continuum, just barely visible over a mis-pairing of functional armor that seems to change each time she is seen again. Her green eyes, as hard as stone and, at time, as soft as the ocean spray, show a wisdom that her age should not be aware of, even if her mannerism do not always reflect her rash action. Hair deep red falls in locks about her neck and shoulders, unbound yet never seeming to hinder her from quick reaction if needed, and she, for all her gentle bearing, does not look to be one who would back down from confrontation without good reason.

Role

Deep Concern

Added Mon Nov 5 09:04:34 2007 at level 47:
As a priestess of the Devourer, Perdray is finding herself in dismay over the
frequency of those comerades that take to their homes and huts for the final
time. The Drillmaster is no more. Frustration has taken those from the huts at
alarming rate. Perdray sees herself as an advisor and spiritual leader for
those who do have the honor of huts though she herself cannot stand and defend
at the Destructor in the name of her beloved village. In part she blames herself
for the lack of morale among her brethren, but always the final decision lies
within their own mind and hearts. Making matters worse is her fading health and
lack of being able to weaken the Veil further. Battles won can only provide a
sure way to give fortitude to those who seek honor and legend. Her efforts
must be redoubled in order to maintain this, but her voice she feels must be
heard on a more frequent basis. Perdray hopes that this is the first step in
returning the heart and longevity of the Village and ideals she holds as strong
as the faith she embraces in Lord Kastellyns words, popular or not. She will
make a strong start in reclaiming the glory of the Village.

The Call to Kastellyn

Added Sun Nov 4 14:44:27 2007 at level 47:
There has always been three basic ways that the mortals of Thera have viewed
the influence of the Immortals that guide and affect the world to their own
means. A literalist stand, interperist take and those that stand middle
ground. Though trained with those that follow a narrow path lain down by
the might Goddess Baerinika, whom Perdray has the utmost respect for, combat
and leadership was always the primary focus of the warrior-priestess. She
grants that a fine line must be walked in following the Great Skjald. Unlike
the most powerful Ordasen, Thror, Holtzendorff and Bolthrower, battle need
need not be a suicidal endeavour. A tactical retreat is sometime a must.
Having done both, sticking through unbearable odds, Perdray has always felt
that the most savvy of generals and advisor would agree that living to fight
alone another day when odds can be taken advantage of. She hold no illusions
that the war as a whole can be won by one person, but legends are made through
rational decision. Lord Kastellyn and his priestess do not always see eye to
eye in matters, but most important is the final agreement of goals set forth.
Kastellyn was the obvious choice. Scorn can be easily endured when ideas, not
blind belief is taken into play. Perdray believes that though Lord Kastellyn's
ideas of war is what suits the Village best, free will is given by the gods to
allow one to sink or swin through the hardest of times. Perdray is still trying
to gain her footing in this respect and the Lord of Legends as well as those
are chosen among the greatest warriors of Thera are the best example and influence
to this end. She is an interperist taking what is important of what her god
expects diametric or not and follows the tenants not only lain down by his light,
but the scripture of the tablet. Both allowing her to be righteous in her
principles. Leaving blind suicide to those who wish to die young. She will
improve her health to remain an advisor to the Village as long as she can, proving
that battles can be won through the intelligence and standards her god expects
as well as use of prayer and the Gods given gifts of muscle, bone and brains.

Order (A back story)

Added Sat Oct 13 09:31:29 2007 at level 40:
Duality is not uncommon among us. Free will gives up the choice to affect
change on many levels. Though graced and gifted with an upbringing that
allowed, as a child, for the woods and an affinity with nature, her
education as a priestess included that cities are the hub of political
and more importantly, religious freedoms and forums. This is a sanctuary
in which any may come together and preach their ways in relative safety,
still tempers flare. Imperial law, in their eyes, outweigh that of the
laws the Tribunals attempt to uphold. As well, some believe dedication
to god, temple, belief and ideals come before. Though Perdray respects
the law of sanctuary, she will defend with all means the name of Lord
Kastellyn against the blasphemers who speak ill of the Devourer and her
devotion of the purge.

Secondly, one who truly is a veteran of combat, orderly or not, knows
when attack is more likely than not coming. Perdray is not above defending
herself in a city if she feels it is a matter of life and death. However,
this has always included the tainted magi and never, to this date, the
priesthood. Perdray can only assume this standing of sanctuary stands for
all that bear the robes of worship. Save of course those that call to the
Ancients of Thar-Eris. Perdray sticks to the call of sanctuary, but she,
like all of the priesthood, is only mortal.

The Village Rites and a true place among the Circle and Pillar.

Added Fri Aug 24 18:55:38 2007 at level 28:
My heart is taken with deep sorrow at the passing of the Commander. Oddly
enough, Awk, a one time enemy has been my guide in my current ventures.
Though I oppose his ideologies with, at times, great distaste, he is not
wrong and thinks clearly in many things. I put forth myself for the Rites.
I realise I will not be able to build my hut, perhaps ever, but perhaps
I would be considered as an advisor. To speak among the village with a
voice that can be heard by those who follow the tablet as I do. I also
have set the goal of 'Mageslayer' for myself though I know that it will
take doing given the talent of the true warriors of the village, but it
is not unobtainable. I want to prove myself to my Lord that I am worthy,
but more so to myself.

I will work to give myself a voice that any applicant has among the huts.
And one day be able to return the head that grants us power to it's rightful
home as any deemed of worth might. It saddens me to know that some applicants
will fall by the wayside, but just perhaps my dedication will shine through.
We shall see.

I have sinned. With Shades of Grey. I think.

Added Fri Aug 24 18:53:51 2007 at level 28:
I cannot even remember the fool's name now. A wizard imbeded deep
into his own ruin. I spoke with patience and reason I believe, but
he seemed bent on insult. Not of me, I have a thick skin. Enough so
that I would not take the breaking of the law lightly. He however
spoke ill of my Lord Kastellyn and his 'questionable' lineage. I
found myself calling down the power of my Lord upon his head before
I knew what I was really doing. Zealotous? Perhaps, but I felt justified,
even proud that I represnted my Lord's wrath with proper response.
I put myself before Lady Yean for judgement following the incident, but
she felt it was between myself and my Lord. Understandable. I took it
upon myself as a leader of the warrior-priests, few as we are, to turn
myself into the law and even the score.

Since then I have picked when I must do what I am cautious and even at
times loathe to do, but even in the protection of the cities it only
takes a moment to kill or be killed as I found out recently at the hands
of two blasphemers. I will do what I must, but I do not take these actions
lightly. 'Education' of those who would forsake their own bodies abilities
and commit blatant murder in holy ground will be dealt with as harshly as
I can bring down upon them. Lord Kastellyn guide my actions with reason and
fair combat in this.

Bittersweet goals, Greater aspirations.

Added Wed Jul 11 20:35:07 2007 at level 13:
Perdray sat stirring the dying embers of the fire beneath the carved
relief of the ancient Raven in the hillside where she first led
Khadrun on to discuss his view on Perdray's intent. At least he
had listened and lent advice without bias. New to her for what
she had known of Minotaurs. So much so it had been almost echoed
verbatim by Lord Kastellyn himself. Drovis on the other hand, well,
could consider herself reborn. In service to her god, to the village
but most of all to the truth of her own heart.Let the war continue
she was not one to back down from it. Let others believe her
'disadvantage' was there to exploit. A potion was as likely to save
her life as will, drive nd prayer. She preffered the later. She
knew she always would.

Slinging the rest of her belongings upon her back, she kicked dirt
over the ramined of the small fire and set out to make tainted
feel the wrath of their actions and consequences of allowing themselves
to be weakened so. Her actions ahead and Kastellyn willing one day
still her name would be remembered upon the Stela, in her own hut
as one who would not back down from her devout belief. Let magic
suffer like never before.

Awakening against the Taint.

Added Tue Jul 10 13:30:51 2007 at level 7:
Perdray reeled, desperately trying to regain her wits as the violet
glow faded. She fought off the urge to retch and lose what little
her stomach did hold. She noted dully that her sword and shield had
fallen from her grasp as her awareness slowly returned. To her
knowledge the magic sent coursing through her had been but a touch
of what most young magi attempted to manipulate on even the slowest
day of training. What would happen if they attempted to take upon
their frail bodies more than they could handle. Arrogance seemed to
lead them, even more so when they attained the right to be called
'Archmage'. As Perdray knew it, ages had come and gone and though
the Heralds and bards told stories of the great families and wizards
that wrought miracles through their works, none could explain away
such blasphemies as the lich and mummy that had left their mark upon
the world.

She shook herself again against the cool morning air bringing dew to
the violet enshrouded forest, ready to gather herself up, when yet
another vision caught her, staying the trance, if it could be called
that; just a moment longer. The constellation of Five Brilliant Stars
seemed to lower itself from the heavens as if it were setting before
the rise of the dawn. Instead it grew in intensity until it seemed to
fall within her reach. From within the Five blinding stars came a soft,
lyrical voice, comforting, but with an edge of steel. A match of harp
and sword.

"The road before you will be long and hard, my priestess, but you will
not falter even in the face of defeat." "Battles are lost, but hymns are
made by those that win wars." "Find not only my Stars you seek, but the
stones who are named Veterans and Commander." "They will guide you."

Shaking her head one last time, Perdray gathered her things and made her
way from the forest, determined to rid herself of the sickening taint
hidden among the ancient trees, in search of purification.

Origin

Added Mon Jul 9 03:20:35 2007 at level 1:
A simple thing growing up in the comforts of Darsylon, and then
Eryn Galen. Galadon has certainly provided many more challenges.
Though most people did not glance at a Half-Elf twice, especially
one wearing the garb and regalia, regardless of how simple, of
that belonging to a priestess. If one could call it regal. At the
very least she has learned form the time she was but a young girl
to outwardly to exude the sense of one who was more than she seemed
to be.

Her training had progressed easily enough from Altar, to Acolyte to
newly appointented in the ranks of the Warrior-Priestess. One of but
a few of the women who has been called to such and fewer still that
has passed on to spreading the word and blade to the outside. It was
a simple beginning, but a beginning all the same. It was her time to
make of it what she could with not all her training in mind, but the
reality that blood must be shed to keep the battle at bay, even if it
meant her own.
