Description
A tall and slender arial hovers lightly in the air. Her plumage has a
silvery-grey sheen, which alternates from reflecting a glint of white to a
strange iridescence as she moves, although you can see that her plumage has
begun to gray through age. Her eyes are jet-black with a nictitating membrane
that blinks rapidly, covering and cleaning the sharp-sighted orbs, but
allowing her to see and sit astride a wickedly hooked beak showing some nicks
and chips. Her slender figure is adorned in various loose clothes and light
armors. Several weapons are tucked into her belt, boots and other easily
accessible places, but nothing cumbersome or that would imped her ability to
move with deft speed. Though her avian features impart little in the way of
emotion the poise of her body and the snap of her beak, leave little doubt
that she is tenacious, and one to be reckoned with.
Across her chest is a sash of once fine silk, now frayed and spattered with
old blackened blood, signifying she is the Marshall of the Fortress of Light
and that it is a post she had fought long and hard within through the years.
A rather life-like tattoo of a Jaguar is tattooed on her left shoulder, you
could have sworn you just saw its eyes flash!
Role
Things to note about Pesawwkt
Added Sun Dec 9 22:52:53 2007 at level 51:
Some will and some may not have noticed:
At all possible she avoids killing anything that is not evil, except things
she would consider food/prey.
She will never barter or purchase from evil healers or shopkeepers,
especially Udgaard considering her prior history there.
Thoughts from the Ledge
Added Mon Dec 3 12:55:44 2007 at level 51:
Sitting on her favorite perch upon a snow covered ledge, Pesawwkt preens her
feathers and reflects on her life. Her body has begun to show signs of how
tumultuous that life has been, her many battles, hunts she has been
successful, those where the prey slipped away and those where she was the
hunted. She has learned much from her experiences and her Goddess, she clicks
her beak as she wonders if her tribe would have been proud of the huntress
she has become. How she would love to teach her father the trick of 'the bird
the broken wing' as she has named it: feigning injury to bait her foes into
staying in combat long enough for her daggers to suck away their life and
then turning on them with swift vengeance. Yes that has been a good trick
although some perfecting can still be done. There are many the enemy who has
fallen for it, but there are some enemies that she has found no way to best,
among them the scion Chancellor Ravon, and his mage Chrichuk. She bends her
mind to the task often, trying new tactics, potions and herbs she has found
on her travels, yet the powerful artifacts that the Scions have dredged up
from the bowels of Hell have made them nigh invincible. Somewhere in Thera
there must be Legendary things which can counteract or negate their power.
Pesawwkt resolves to seek them to that end.
Musings from perch
Added Fri Nov 2 15:39:14 2007 at level 51:
Sitting high on her perch on a snow covered ledge, Pesawwkt looks out over
the Fortress that has been her home for many a year, a home with which she is
now charged to defend and teach as the Marshall of the Light. She clicks her
beak in self deprecating amusement as she understands now perhaps why
Niheriva, her honored Captain is sometimes a little short on patience and as
ever before, she realizes he teaches her still. Preening her iridescent
feathers she ponders battles past, battles to come and absently runs her
fingers over the tattoo of a black jaguar which marks her left forearm, it
seems to almost purr as she touches it.
Her Captain's words drift into her mind "I will not live forever Pesawwkt, I;role + am getting old". Old. Hah! The elf might be over 1000 years for all she knew,
yet still hunted and fought with the vigor or a young man. It would be a
strange fortress without him. Unbidden a tear wells up in her eye, and a pain
she had not felt in her heart since the lose of her tribe, her family. With a
snap of her beak she shakes the thought from her mind. "This is my family,;role + this is my tribe and when one falls in the hunt another picks up his spear;role + and continues, else there will be no meat and all will starve. No" she
thinks, "there will always be those who fight against the dark, and so long;role + as I have breath, they will always be strong."
She alights from her perch and gripping her trusted dagger tightly sets off
to hunt.
Redemption
Added Fri Sep 21 16:17:30 2007 at level 51:
She has found redemption, and from it strength and resolve.
Though the path was hard, her heart remained within the Fortress of Light.
Her daggers struck always with resolve, and now tempered with restraint.
She has spent many hours analyzing her errors and teaching others how to
avoid the same. Her conversation with Her Divine Huntress has given fortitude
to her heart and temperance to her soul.
Now more than ever she is determined to be a beacon to others, though that
beacon might be in a sea of her enemies while she dances with daggers in
hand.
A shameful act
Added Thu Sep 13 11:47:32 2007 at level 51:
She is ashamed.
The taunts and previous cowardice of Abby began to wear on her.
Stepping into the city of Hamsah after gaining the Scepter she sees Abby
lurking in the guild. At the entrance there are four, guard, bodyguard and a
city guard and the guild guard. In her haste she hurls a dagger at the
guildguard thinking it was he who had the Red Aura about him. Abby flees the
city and her prey is lost.
It is only later, when the heat of battle has calmed she realizes what has
happened. The guard she struck was not the dark heart she thought, he was of
the light. She is sickened and fears that she has stepped upon the line which
so many Maran have walked too closely to: To become what they fight.
She has penned a scroll to her Captain, taking full responsibility and
detailing that Noble Braemir had no fault in the matter. She will accept her
punishment and seek absolution for her act. Though her heart is heavy and
full or remorse, she knows what must be done. There is no greater Evil than
one of the light who is willing to sacrifice the light to destroy evil. This
is not who she is. She has fallen to save her brethren, she has hunted and
slain evil, but she would rather hack of her wings and walk on her awkward
legs than to become what she fights.
May Baerinika's judgment on her be just, for she goes now to face her Divine
Huntress and confess her sin.
Life continues
Added Sat Aug 18 15:23:21 2007 at level 31:
She has hunted evil, slain roaming packs of orcs, and talked with those who
have banded together in the Fortress of Light. She has offered herself to be
considered as a Squire, and after gaining knowledge of the
Jaguar God Baerinika, learning of her courage and her ways, she has sought
out the Temple in the Mists to pray and find guidance in her ways.
Her path in life continues.
Escape
Added Mon Aug 13 11:24:06 2007 at level 14:
She awakens in the darkness. Tight cords bite deeply into her slim wrists and
ankles. She attempts to flex her wings, and with a small chill, realizes that
they have been swaddled in a heavy cloth and weighted with chains. The room
smells of damp and filth, stale sweat and old blood. Noises outside can be
heard, the brutish voices of her Jaette captors, and torchlight begins to
seep through the cracks in the heavy door that she can now see. She sweeps
her gaze across her cell and sees the white bones of the previous occupant
still sitting in the corner. The skeleton is short in stature, but the bones
are heavy. Dwarf-kind she thinks to herself. The wrist of the skeleton bear
heavy shackles, and the hands are mangled. Pesawwkt notices that the right
femur his broken, and the break never healed, obviously the most likely cause
of the dwarf's death. With her taloned feet she reaches over and snatches the
femur, the break is angular already and with some rubbing on the stone floor
she hones the edge.
Noise in the corridor again, Pesawwkt is unsure how long she has fitfully
slept. This time the heavy footfalls stop outside her cell door, keys
jangled, a lock clicks and the door creaks open. A brutish face peers inside,
illuminated by a guttering torch. Feral pleasure grips the jaettes features
as it sees the captive is awake. Pesawwkt knows she will only have one chance
to escape. The brute strides forward and grips her face with a massive hand,
his breath is foul. "Birdie wake, time now for sacrifice" drool drips from
his yellow teeth. Its eyes are black and void of any real intelligence,
Pesawwkt notes the look of wonder in them as she drives her talons upward,
driving the sharp femur under its chin an into its tiny brain. It really
never occurred to it that Arial's knees bend backwards.
Childhood
Added Thu Aug 9 09:12:13 2007 at level 2:
There was nothing strange or un-towards about her childhood, growing up in
the small village of T'ckark, high in the mountains north of Udgaard. Like
most arials the villagers lived their lives in freedom and for the moment,
never giving much thought beyond the next hunt. While the nights here were
colder and they lacked the sophisticated luxuries of distance cousins in the
Arial City, their lives were full and their lives made them hard. Plumage was
thick and downy, beaks were hooked and sharp, eyesight was keen and focuses,
and their fighting skills were fierce and courageous.
For the most part males would hunt the far ranges, unless there was large
game to be had, such as one of the large white bears of the north, or there
was a need to defend against marauding bands of trolls or goblins. It was a
time when her father and brother were off on such a hunt that the defining
event of her young live occurred. For weeks there had been smoke in the skies
to the west and scouts had reported the forces of Udgaard Loke had moved on
the Cloud giants. Now Jaette patrols moved though the mountains, seeking out
pockets of resistance and skirmishers. It was one such patrol that stumbled
on the her village. With only the elder males left in the village it fell to
the hens to defend, but the hens were no easy fight, and Pesawwkt was the
child of raptors. The casualties were high, but the numbers of the trollish
fiends were too many, and the village was eventually razed. Many of the women
and children were either killed or captured, Pesawwkt saw her mother struck
down by a massive overhead axe-swing. Crying out she tried to reach her only
to be pulled to the ground
by a vicious whiplash, and a heavy boot sent her mind into darkness.
