Description
You see a tiny goblin woman, perhaps two and a half feet tall, of
indeterminate age. She has light green skin that fades to a pinkish hue in
places, covered entirely with mottled spots like large freckles, thicker on
her cheeks and nose. Her face is dominated by a pair of huge, expressive
eyes that are a bright, nearly luminous, orange hue. Long, pointed ears jut
out from the sides of her wide head, somehow escaping the long, messy tangle
of deep burgundy hair that cascades in waves. She has a wide, grinning mouth
filled with sharp little teeth which she bares readily in mirth or malice.
Unlike most goblins, this one appears to be relatively clean and well-kept.
She has flecks of dried clay mud spattered about her arms and clothing, but
otherwise even seems to bathe regularly. Swimming amidst the burgundy waves
of hair, the goblin wears on her head a twisted tiara made of iron. It is
crudely worked, but obviously well cared for. Her jutting ears are adorned
with numerous studs and loop earrings. She has adorned her wrists with a
multitude of metal bracelets which clink and clatter as she moves about.

* The Thorntooth Clan was an original goblin clan in the Akan region prior to
the Grinning Skulls rising to power
* The Grinning Skulls annexed the Thorntooth goblins along with many other goblin and orc tribes of the region
* The goblin clans still track lineage and take pride in their names
* Pititti is the princess of the Thorntooth Clan
* She wishes to go out and prove herself, to bring glory to her clan and the
Grinning Skulls
* Her goal is for the Thorntooths to be seen as strongest goblin clan in the Grinning Skulls
Personality
Pititti (Piti for short) is a happy and optimistic goblin. She is prone to
distraction, and loves to make mud sculptures of animals and things she
encounters. She is not good at it, but it's fun! She makes friends easily, and
does not hold grudges unless really pressed. But once you lose her trust, it
would be difficult to win it back. She is a lot smarter than she looks! She is
a bit vain, and is considered a very attractive goblin (not that that is
saying a lot).
The Thorntooth Clan
Added Sun Aug 27 14:41:14 2023 at level 30:
The aged goblin shaman waddled out from her hut, her girth nearly preventing
her from walking. She lowered herself onto a squat stump of a tree to sit.
"Gather rounds, children!" she called to the goblin children that played and
scampered around her. "Is time hears stories of Thorntooth clan."
The children gathered around the fat old shaman, squatting in the filth of the
Grinning Skulls Village, staring up at her with expectant eyes.
"Long agos," began the shaman, "Thorntooth clan big big goblins clan. Powerful
clans in Akan regions." The shaman gestured grandly to the hills and mountains
surrounding the village. "All goblins clans fights and struggles, tries be
most powerfuls! Thorntooth always powerfuls. Always strongs! Other clans looks
up to Thorntooths. Chief Thorntooth rules goblins council! But... then comes
Grinning Skulls orcs. Orcs comes conquers all regions, all goblins clans, all
orcs clans. Is no mores fights and struggles between clans. Is unites!"
The shaman raised her hands in the air, signifying the importance of this
amazing historical event. The children around her picked at their ears and
noses, some starting to lose interest.
"But goblins clans is still importants! You! You is ancestors of Thorntooth
clans, all Thorntooth bloods! Is you is brings glories Thorntooth name. Always
tracks bloodlines, has prides in clan name. And honor royalty of clans, passed
down from great chief of olds. Like Thorntooth Princess... Pititti!" The
shaman looked around, but the princess was nowhere to be found. "Pititti?"
Piti, Warrior Princess
Added Sun Aug 27 14:42:28 2023 at level 30:
Pititti sat by a tranquil stream, far enough away from the Grinning Skulls
Village that she could barely hear the grunting and commotion of the orcs. She
had gathered together a small pile of clay-laden mud, and she patted it with
her dirty hands. She looked around for inspiration, and spotted a little
rabbit chewing at some brush across the stream. Working deftly, Piti began to
shape the mud with her fingers and claws, and before long a little clay rabbit
sat by the stream. Crude work, but recognizable. Piti grinned at her artwork,
her sharp little teeth glinting in the sun. The sculpture complete, she stood
up and grabbed her bow from where it leaned against a tree. The rabbit, the
living one, was soon swinging dead from her belt as she skipped merrily back
to the Grinning Skulls Village. The clay sculpture sagged and dried by the
stream, forgotten.
When she arrived back in the village, Pititti was chastised by the fat old
shaman of the Thorntooth clan. The shaman said the princess must stay in the
camp to be an inspiration for the other Thorntooths. Piti bore the harsh words
with smiling complacency. She was the princess, and she could do what she
wanted. Besides, what was more inspiring than bringing home meat? Other
royalty of the old clans were satisfied to be figureheads in their various
sections of the village, growing fat and slow and allowing the raiders to
provide for them. Pititti found that boring. And so, she behaved as a raider
herself.
Pititti brought her rabbit to the meat hut, where she handed it to the filthy,
massive orc that butchered kills for the clan.
"Yuh," said the orc butcher. "Gob gob bring MEAT! Keep brings meat. Bring
GLORY to clan!"
Glory to the clan! That sounded pretty good to Piti. She licked the rabbit
blood from her little fingers and considered what glory meant exactly.
Whatever it was, she probably wanted it.
Light Versus Dark
Added Sun Aug 27 14:45:58 2023 at level 30:
Piti had grown quite a lot since she began her adventures outside of the
village. There was a lot to see and a lot to do! She met a lot of people as
well, and learned about the conflicts people had outside of the village. A big
one was the struggle between "light" and "dark." Piti didn't know much about
what the big deal was. But she did notice that those people who were "dark"
always tried to kill her, while those who were "light" did not. So she has
preferred to spend time with those of the light. In particular, she has been
traveling a lot with a dwarven paladin named Erorm. He is her best friend!
Well, her only friend, really.
But then the orcs got mad that she was traveling with a paladin. They want to
kill the paladin. So Piti has a hard time trying to have a friend and also be
loyal to the clan. Maybe bringing glory to the clan isn't always about meat,
but sometimes about killing paladins? But then, only the light people don't
want to kill Piti. Why would glory not be killing those who actively threaten
her, like the "dark" ones who are always attacking her? That doesn't make much
sense to Piti. Why go out of your way to kill people who are nice to you, when
you can kill those who try to kill you? That feels more glorious!
More and more, Piti feels that orcs are stupid. But Grinning Skull is for
life. No way out! So Piti must learn to navigate the idea of having friends,
but also keeping peace with the stupid orcs. She did get to travel with an orc
for the first time, and had to admit it felt good to be teamed up with their
brute strength. She was able to use her skills as a raider to their true
potential. Maybe spending more time with the orcs will bring her some clarity
of purpose.
But for now, Piti mostly wants to just grow and explore and have friends. She
has neither been felled nor killed an enemy in battle, but has won most of the
fights she has been in (the enemy fled). So she guessed that was good enough
glory for now.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!
Added Thu Aug 31 20:39:50 2023 at level 40:
Piti had spent a great deal of time with her light-walking friends, and
despite getting questions from the orcs there had not been any conflicts
because none of the orcs were able to travel with Piti (or uninterested in
doing so). However, once this was no longer the case, Piti saw no reason not
to take advantage of joining her fellow Grinning Skulls. Unfortunately, her
light-walking friends did not approve of her doing so!
As a result, the time inevitably came when her friends of the light tried to
kill an orc Piti traveling with. Piti had to make a choice: turn her back on
her clan or fight along-side of the orcs against her friends. Piti pleaded
with her friends to leave so she would not have to fight them. But they
pressed forward with their attack, cornering Piti and Treetha in the Grinning
Skull Village.
In the battle that followed, Piti and Treetha slew Erorm and Vhellaria, two of
Piti's friends! Erorm was Piti's best best friend! After that, neither of the
two would speak to Piti even though she tried to reach out and explain her
impossible situation. She fears now that she has lost their friendship
forever, which is very sad. But she does not feel that she made the wrong
choice. She is the princess of the Thorntooth clan, after all, and must
protect her clan and home!
Working the Clay
Added Tue Sep 5 19:50:36 2023 at level 40:
Pititti rested on the back of her warg gazing down from the mountains at the
Grinning Skull Village below. From her vantage point, she saw two goblin
children fighting over a bone of some sort in one of the pathways, rolling in
the fetid mud while several orcs looked on and yelled insults in amusement.
Piti grinned broadly, fondly recalling her own early childhood in the village.
It was a carefree time for her, filled with endless adventures, plans for
glory with her friends, fights, curses, and fun. Back then, it was her older
sister, Grismee, who was going to be the Thorntooth Princess for the clan, and
Piti was just Piti. But then Grismee vanished one day, like so many goblin
children do. And that fun time transitioned into a responsibility of a sort.
No more rolling in the mud like those two little ones below. She had to wear
the ceremonial bones, sit at the head of the table, slaughter the holiday
badger.
But, Piti had to admit she enjoyed being the center of attention. She always
had. It was the responsibility she did not care for. And she preferred to be
known for what she could do rather than who she was related to.
Piti rummaged in her bags, and produced a lump of clay that had been given to
her by her friend, Kreltish. The clay was given to him to pass on to Piti by
the goddess Rarywey. Pititti knew nothing of goddesses, but this clay was
amazing. She pulled off a piece and began to kneed it with her small hands,
warming it into malleability. The clay held its shape so much better than the
mud she had worked with before, and it seemed to stay fresh indefinitely. When
baked, it would harden to a stone-like consistency that was impervious to
rain.
Making mud sculptures had always just been something Piti liked to do for her
own enjoyment. It was something scoffed at in the village. But when she had
mentioned it to others, such as Kreltish and Damil, the High Herald of the
Eternal Star, they had shown real interest. Damil even wanted her to leave the
village and become a Herlad! For the first time, Piti had felt seen for
something she was good at and enjoyed. She didn't know if it would take her
anywhere, nor did she care. But she liked being seen and having friends.

Piti
A Realization
Added Sat Sep 16 19:39:08 2023 at level 40:
Princess Pititti returned to the village, singing a happy tune in her off-key
voice, riding on the back of a warg who had long ago learned to ignore the
song. In the road of the village she came upon a goblin male she recognized as
a Thorntooth, and she stopped to speak with him. He groveled in the mud before
his princess, his thin frame covered only with filthy, thread-bare cloth of an
unrecognizable cut. Piti soothed the man, getting meat from her bags and
handing it to him. He tore into the raw flesh greedily, overcome with hunger.
Trickles of blood flowed down his chin, dripping to the muddy earth. Then he
seemed to snap to his senses, and scurried off with the remaining meat to
share with his family.
Piti frowned after the skeletal goblin man. She got back on her warg and made
a slow circuit of the Thorntooth segment of the village. Everywhere she saw
thin, abused-looking goblins. Everywhere, filth and sickness. All except for
the shaman, who was as fat and happy as ever. When Pititti was growing up in
the village, it was like this as well. But it seemed the natural order of
things, to Piti who had no frame of reference. But now that she had been away,
had seen the way others live, it brought fresh perspective. Her people were
suffering.
Long had the Thorntooth goblins lived under the Grinning Skull banner. The
shaman had told it as a story of unification. An end to strife between warring
factions. But the truth seemed clear to Piti now: the goblins were little more
than slaves to the orcs. Even Pititti, an honored princess of her clan, was
expected to serve the will of the orc. She had chosen to view the less
intelligent orcs as large children, bringing them gifts and placating their
requests for support. But they were not children. They were the force that
kept her clan in filth and poverty.
Piti had thought much about leaving the Grinning Skull Village, but that had
more to do with her own happiness than that of her people. She had not tried
because she did not want to abandon her clan. But now she realized that it was
not only she who needed to leave the Grinning Skull. She did not know how, but
she needed to get her people out of there. She was the only one who could.
The Liberation of the Thorntooth Clan
Added Thu Sep 21 20:55:08 2023 at level 40:
Piti brought the Thorntooth shaman a gift. It was a gift she knew the shaman
could never resist: a platter of food from the Inn of the Eternal Star,
prepared by Damil as a sample for an upcoming event, which Piti had squirreled
away for this occasion. She presented it to the shaman in thanks for all she
had done for the clan... thinking of all the times the shaman had told them to
serve the orcs, to do as they were told, to honor the Grinning Skull above all
else, to be grateful to simply exist. Piti watched, smiling sweetly, as the
shaman greedily devoured the food, sucking the marrow from the bones, slurping
the eyes from the fish skulls, broth running down the sides of her fat cheeks.
Piti smiled as the shaman's eyes grew droopy, her speech slurred, and she
struggled with the sedative poison that had been slipped into the platter of
meat. Piti smiled as the shaman closed her eyes and fell forward onto the
crude wooden table in their humble dining hall. Piti smiled as she slit the
shaman's throat from ear to ear.
Under the cover of darkness, Princess Pititti led her clan from the Grinning
Skull Village out a hole she had burrowed under the southern battlements. The
clan, largely consisting of starving, filthy families with only a small
smattering of raiders, shivered in fear as they departed the only home they
had ever known to find refuge in the unknown world beyond. They trusted their
princess, who was kind, strong, and loving and had never led them wrong. They
followed as silently as they could, stopping frequently to rest. They huddled
in the darkness, their eyes huge with fear. Piti led them south, beyond the
Eastern Road and into forests utterly bewildering to the majority of the
goblins. Pititti rallied the raiders to her, and they fought a pack of wolves
that tried to pick off their weak and sick. They made their way into the
Virgin Forest.
There, Piti had found an abandoned bear den that would serve as their
temporary home. She had planned to take refuge here, while she made inroads
with the neighboring Silverwood Goblin clans. Only those goblins, as humble as
they were, seemed to be on equal footing with their orc counterparts. It
seemed the logical place to get a new beginning. And perhaps she could teach
these Silverwood goblins a thing or two as well. But for now, her people were
safe. The raiders could hunt this fertile forest, and the clan could know
freedom out from under the boot heal of the orc for the very first time.
The rise of the Thorntooth Clan had begun.

The Night That Grismee Disappeared (poem)
Added Sun Sep 24 21:37:54 2023 at level 40:
Pititti of the Thorntooth clan lay in slumber in the dark,
Within her mind the dream began, fire from unwelcome spark,
The past came rushing like a flood, preying on her darkest fear,
A night of terror and of blood, the night that Grismee disappeared.
The dream took Piti to her past when she was just a little child,
The goblins of the upper caste stayed in quarters less defiled,
The village of the Grinning Skull, the populace were monsters all,
But stronger monster that night culled, orcs and goblins large and small.
It was a still and placid night, the moon was full and high and brilliant,
The children all were tucked in tight, the guard outside was strong,
resilient, When little Piti heard a sound, like clicking, ticking insect
chitter, The guard outside fell to the ground, Piti heard as something
tittered.
The other children slept so deeply, unaware of any danger,
Pititti's fear ramped up quite steeply, sensing the unwelcome stranger,
The little goblin jumped in fright, out of her small bed of fur,
Hiding, shivering in the night, her sight abruptly ebbed and blurred.
Into the room then stepped a creature, tall, smooth, pale like alabaster,
Its body tall but lacking feature, Piti's heartbeat racing faster,
The smell that wafted to her nose, like rotting corpses packed with fungus,
It eyed the children in their dose, to Piti's eyes its claws humongous.
To her sister's bed it shuffled, pale claws digging at the floorboards,
Tendrils on its back unruffled, sensing blood of goblin warlords,
The creature made a hellish screech, surely it would wake the sleeping,
But sanity the sound did leech, leaving Piti weak and weeping.
When her senses did return, of the creature was no sign,
But missing from her little bed, the eldest of her strong bloodline,
The camp alive now with the dread, orcs and goblins howling, cursing,
Except of course the many dead, their wounds beyond the need for nursing.
Pititti woke with cry and jolt, sleep is broken from the nightmare,
She sat up stiff, straight as a bolt, chilled beyond the cold of night air,
Into her mind there came unbidden, an image of that creature's face,
An image she could not be rid in despite time or age or place.
Pititti, princess of her kind, wept then for the long lost sister,
She sees again within her mind, the creature's swollen eyes like blisters,
Claws as long as sharped scythes, white flesh slick with stinking slime,
Those dead and blank and yellowed eyes, the image fresh despite the time.
And in the night she hears a chitter, like laughter drifting on the breeze,
Piti's mind will not permit her to rest now or to be at ease,
And so awake the princess lies, gripped now in her deepest fear,
She sees again those soulless eyes, the night that Grismee disappeared.
