Description
At first glance you see a short human, perhaps a
little over five feet tall. Pale skin the color of
porcelain, yet a glow emanates from the very veins
within. A similar glow peeks out in highlights of
his long pale hair, drawn back and tied with a
thin leather strap. His strangely gold eyes gaze
forward with a calm warmth that is both comforting
and disconcerting. Though his face yet shines with
youth, his body has begun to contort with age. His
shoulders have begun to slump and his fingers bend
where they did not before.
Role
Alright, then.

Pohtid was slain as a small child and his spirit
sent to the Azure Fields. In peace for ages until
ripped back to Thera, now bound to this weak mortal
body, a prisoner of sorts. The effects of returning
sometimes manifest themselves in a wound on his
side. He has known heaven and doesn't understand
this new existence. He yet hold's a child's innocence
and rarely filters his thoughts. Like a child, he
also holds little or no malice and knows only to "do
good and be good," one of the few things he remembers
from his mother. A simple touchstone. A simple truth.

"In the Galadon sanctuary I talked with Quingong, a
small priest. He was speaking with an Elven priest
with a name that sounded like marbles in the mouth.
Someone named Slayer kept walking in and Quingong
kept being nice to him. Once, when Slayer was out
in the courtyard, Quingong said it was 'best to
humor him.' I did not know what that meant but when
I repeated 'best to humor', the small priest said
that should be my... maximum and that I should
tell it to Lady Ishuli. We then gave bread to the
Slayer because he was 'powered by carba--something'
and I asked if that was a pet dragon, too."

In his travels with a young shapeshifter, Pohdtid
was reminded of his love for cats or, more
specifically, kittens. The mage traveled with a cat
named Mr. Jimble. Later they learned that Mr. Jimble
was not a Mister but a Miss. This was a lot.
An Audience with Lady
Added Wed May 15 11:57:21 2019 at level 19:
Pohdtid was nearly beside himself when granted an
audience with Lady Ishuli. They spoke of his
purpose and what he was here for and Lady charged
him with putting a name to it and devising a method
to get better at it.
A few notes to himself highlight a simple phrase:
'It is always the right thing to try to do the right
thing.'

=============================================================================
Seeking the Right and choosing the Good can be very difficult. Mostly because
it involves personal choice and what you think and feel, not what your kin or
companions may think.
What is the Good? Sometimes a feeling in your gut will tell you. Other times
you will hear a small voice or a big voice in your head. It might tell you to
hand a coin to one in need. It might say instead to give food. It might tell
you to charge into battle or it might say find a quiet corner to write.
Some days it will tell you a different thing than the day before. That is a
way it is difficult. Your Right and your Good may be at odds with both others
and yourself, given the day.
Why should you seek the Right? Why should you choose the Good?
1. To receive what you give to others.
Do to others what you would want. Trust that most will do the same, with time.
Do things for others, help them and, now or somewhere down the line, they will
want to help you and do things for you.
2. To feel better.
When you do not choose the Good it is like you are disappointing your own
self. You are saying to you that you do not have the strength to follow
through with the Right. You are letting your own self down. Choosing the Good
tells yourself that you are strong and worthy.
3. To keep purpose.
When you do not choose the Good, you may not feel like you deserve any good
things or success coming to you. You may blame success on other things or
other people, but that you do not deserve it. When you seek the Right, you
feel like someone who deserves the good things that come to them.
4. To give purpose to others
In seeking the Right and choosing the Good, you help give that choice to
others. They, too, can see success and good things come to them and, by being
an example, you help them remember their purpose and worth.

======================================================================
How do you seek the Right? How do you choose the Good?
1. Remember why.
When you are not sure, revisit what you believe and, more importantly, why.
Always come back to this why you believe. The beliefs can change over time,
the reasons may shift, but always examine the why. Match the decisions before
you against your this why as best you can. Your Right is yours, as is your
Good.
2. Forget perfection.
When you worry too much about your decisions, or feel you didn't make the
perfect choice, it can wear on you. Let go of the illusion of perfection and
instead work to get just a bit better every day. Just one step forward, one
choice better. Right is not perfect. Good is not perfect. But Right is Good.
3. Do it.
The longer you take in your decisions, the more likely you will find a reason
not to make them. The longer you spend on making a choice, the more often you
will come up with reasons not to. While there is value in questioning why or
how to do things, you must also take action. It may not be easy. Chances are,
seeking the Right and choosing the Good may take more effort and be more
painful than another route. In the long run, however, it will pay off for you
and for others. Action begets action. Right begets Good. Good begets Right.
Some time has passed

Not only did Pohdtid join the ranks of the Fortress
as a scribe, he has been named Elder Prophet. He
has felt what he names loss for the first times with
the passings of Alrion and the ancient Cardinal, Aurew.
Studies in what it means to seek Good or the Light have
led to a deeper understanding of a purpose here in
a place he should not be. It has also calmed his
nerves somewhat to speak to the younger members of
the Fortress, particularly those who will be tempted
by the Blindness or, perhaps worse, give up the lives
they have been blessed with.
The Fortress has lost several and looks to bolster
itself with new blood. Pohdtid believes that, unless
he hears otherwise, he should merely talk to potential
squires and only induct the scribes.
There is an ongoing ominous rumbling beneath the
Fortress that fortells of trouble ahead. An encounter
in the desert with a historian led to a cursory study
in the way of the Kara Chal and reminder that Lord
Selric may yet be... alive within the stone. Though there
are the likes of Sel, the Herald ranger who seems
hell-bent to doubt the resolve or purity of the Maran
and Acolytes, Pohdtid will take his place against the
Dark for those unable or too afraid.
Messing with messengers
Added Fri Aug 9 17:23:55 2019 at level 51:
For the first time, Pohdtid saw the shared dream that
tells of some Pallid Princess and warns of an impending
destruction of not only the Fortress but also the radiant
orb itself.
Alf still contends that he will sit on the crack if it
opens up. Will put this way, way down the list of methods
to try.
Pohdtid employed a number of messengers to travel the
realms to see if they could turn up any rumors or tidbits
of information, any pieces to this puzzle. In addition
to his own efforts, he looks forward to the messengers
returning with some clue.
Never too old
Added Wed Aug 21 17:14:10 2019 at level 51:
Had a good chat with Gruntner of restraint which took
highlighting the truth that one must always revisit ones
values and evaluate why one takes ones actions. A solid
squire who quietly provides a wonderful example to the
Fortress as a whole.
Had a dream of some great battle where the Fortress as we
know it was obliterated. In this dream, Pohdtid stood atop
a dark chasm and was presented a choice. Without hesitation
he leapt into the dark with the hope and promise that he
could protect those of the Light, while knowing he would
never return.
A new day and a new balance
Added Sat Sep 21 13:42:00 2019 at level 51:
The radiant orb has been restored with the awakening of
Lady Padwei. Some, not all, of the former Maran and squires
have been welcomed back into the fold. A newfound focus
on balance has even brought several scribes, the great wave
according to Pohdtid.
As he gets older, the balance has been welcome and he feels
both less pressure on himself and a redoubled dedication
to the Light. As the numbers of the Fortress not only swell
but also deepen, it is plain that, though there was great
loss, there is also knowledge, wisdom and newfound joy beyond
the Redhorn gate.
While he helps teach the new scribes, he yet has more time
on his hands, and Pohdtid has once again taken to the pen and
exploring his studies. A new piece on goodness and a few ideas
in the works, the balance in his heart seems more pure even
as his frail body continues to age.
A lingering fog
Added Mon Oct 7 17:49:40 2019 at level 51:
Numbers in the Fortress briefly swelled, though some have since
fallen away, be it through death, misdeed or simply wandering
away. A great influx of new villagers and shapeshifters in the
realms has seen a diminished number willing to pledge their
lives to the Light.
The Provost mummy has barred entry to would-be magistrates of
the Light. Something is afoot, some plan or dark scheme.
Gruntner is growing tired and has begun speaking of retirement.
Pohdtid has done his best to not only occupy him but also to
encourage ways of finding joy outside of just a really good
fight. He still believes Gruntner should have a small brewery
of his own or somehow have an ale named by him. This would
provide a further sense of ownership in his path.
In service to his Lady, Pohdtid has written two new works and
mulling over others. The tie to her blessing feels somehow
affected and he has not yet puzzled out how, if at all. He is
yet thankful for her boon and wishes to prove worthy of it.
Keep walking
Added Fri Nov 1 14:48:02 2019 at level 51:
Pohdtid is weary. He is tired. He sees others come and go and
feels somehow cut off from Lady, so prayers and supplications
carry with them a feeling of uncertainty. This has weighed on
him for some time, yet his hope is that silence is tacet
approval and not disappointment.
He will endure, that he has promised, yet he has chosen to step
down as Cardinal, that there be a stronger presence leading
the Acolytes. Perhaps someone else could get through to the
others, for, apparently like Aurew and others, it began to
feel as though Pohdtid was speaking to himself. And he did not
wish this. He hates letting anyone down and hopes others may
prove better.
