Description

A yellow hide of blotchy, wrinkled skin is stretched over the wiry frame of this runt Orc, marred by demonic sigils and defiled holy marks which smoke faintly with the scent of ash and death. A tangled mess of hair sprouts from one half of his horned, beast-like skull, with a few lonely black strands adrift in a sea of gray. His ear tips end in sharp points, but droop down under their own weight. His wrists are bound by sturdy manacles, the broken chain rattling with the motion of his arms. A large warbanner made of elven skin is strapped to his back, with the image of a grinning skull painted in blood. The skulls of fallen heroes dangle from his belt. His face is heavily scarred, with twin blood-red orbs glinting wickedly through the murderholes on his face. Like him, those eyes are old and tired now, having seen the passing of many seasons and more blood than a butcher's block.

Role

Beginnings 1

Young and sticky-fingered, always stealing and killing pigs from the pen,
also struggling to pronounce the letter G (an impediment he eventually 
outgrew), he announced his presence simply by yelling "PORG" and waving some 
pork around. Thus he became Porg, pork merchant.

He was born scrawny, but limber and quick. Exploiting this gift and curse got 
him in and out of much trouble. He could climb up to and into places where
others Orcs could not reach him, and explore hidden pathways that they could
not, laying low until they lost interest in revenge.

He once made the mistake of being seen stealing from the shiny private stash
of the great berserker warlord, Tugbor. This time he would not be able to
slip back into the anonymity of the horde, there was a bounty on him. He hid 
away from the villagers deep in a nearby cave, and hatched a wicked scheme
to deal with him.

He stole a couple dozen dire wolf cubs, and raised them in the cave. 
Together they ate from his cache of rotting porg and drank water from a 
stalactite. He didn't know anything about training them, but beat them to
make them mean. When food ran too thin, he fed some of the cubs to each
other. He let them drink from his blood to get a taste. Eventually, young
Porg had about 19 grown dire wolves. He then starved them to just the point
that one among them was killed and cannibalized by the rest. They were hungry
and ready.

It would not be enough though. Tugbor and his berserkers might cow the 
wolves or distract them with food. But Porg had a plan.

Beginnings 2

The cave led out to Akan. From there he stole a giant, sacred bell, running 
out straight through the gates yelling "Orc's gettin' away! Orc's getting
away!" The guards gave chase back into the cave, but quickly lost track of
him once inside its twisting passageways. Quickly, Porg hung the bell up high
on a rope of guts, and ran the yanking end up along the roof so that it could
be reached from atop a ledge in the cavern. Then he ran out into the village 
where Tugbor was feasting, took off his pants, jumped from a high place and 
flew over his table like a screaming bird and dropped a big fat shit on his 
plate in mid-air. "Can't stop da Porg!" he shouted.

Tugbor roared in a berserker's rage so loud that the very air trembled, 
"POOOOOOORG!" and with his whole band of battle-hardened killers chased after
Porg who was now shitting in fear running back to the cave. He nimbly climbed
up the ledge and poured pig grease down it so that no else could.

He wasn't as fast as he hoped, Tugbor and his Orcs were already there,
calling him a coward and throwing rocks and weapons at him. Overwhelmed with
fear, his brain seemed to halt and he instinctively flailed to dodge and 
smack away the projectiles, almost slipping off the greasy ledge when an axe
flew by and cleanly sliced off half his scalp. He saw stars. Then he was
slapped by the pull-rope he had hung, and remembered. He yanked it for his
life, and its ringing echoed loud through the caves. The Orcs covered their
ears and roared in fury. The next thing to be heard was a cacophany of
mithril boots and chainmail as a band of Dwarven warriors rushed in. They far
outnumbered the Orcs. The Dwarven captain stepped forward, "Once again, ye
wart skins come ta raid our homes and defile our holy relics. And once again,
we give raid for raid and blood for blood! Die!"

The Dwarves charged forward courageously, and Tugbor, in anger and disbelief,
kept pointing to the ledge and saying, "Nuh, wait! But- Porg!" The rope was
cut and the bell fell straight onto his head and he began flailing his
weapons around wildly, trying to fight in a confused daze.

Though outnumbered, Tugbor's berserkers were battle-tested killers, having
triumphed through many battles. Many on both sides were dead, but the Orcs
began to gain the upper hand. The captain was struck down, an axe cleft right
through his helmet and embedded deep in his skull. They would dispatch the
remaining Dwarves with ease. A strong coppery stench filled the caverns, the
stony ground completely drenched in fresh blood.

Terrifying howls echoed through the cave, and the starving dire wolves came
surging in. Dwarves and Orcs alike screamed in terror and turned to flee.
Cornered, some tried to stay their ground and fight, killing some of the
weakened beasts. But the wolves knew no fear and only hunger and hatred,
overwhelming them with numbers and tearing them apart. Porg had left the

ledge and squeezed himself into a tight crevice where they could not reach.
From there, body walked in sideways, head turned to watch, his blood-red eyes
shone through the dark and rumbled with his gleeful laughter.

All were ripped to shreds and devoured to nothing, not even their bones 
would be left in their armor. None would survive, save for Porg.

This is the way of Porg. This is how Porg, without the courage to fight even
one warrior, annihilated dozens of storied fighters. This is the story of how 
Porg learned absolutely nothing good.

Personality

Porg lacks comprehension of the basic concepts that comprise a normal moral
compass. Truth is whatever he feels it is right now. Friend is just a word
that means someone is currently useful. Loyalty, though Porg has learned to 
promise it for prizes, only denotes fear and respect of someone strong in the
immediate vicinity. At a glance, the quintessential Orc.

Law as a concept is not truly understood, Porg believes laws are just greedy,
arbitrary demands lords and their guards make to hoard all the prey and
loot for themselves. These demands are forgotten when their enforcers are not 
watching, or even openly defied when they seem too weak. Porg, a soul swayed 
by pure chaos, actually does not hate orderly types as a default - simply 
because he doesn't even recognize that they are so or what it means. He is 
nonetheless bound to eventually butt heads with most of them, recognize them
individually, and despise them when they interfere with his endless lust for
pillaging and bloodshed.

He has trench-smarts and the instincts to survive any hostilities, but truly 
struggles to grasp the fact that there are any static "sides" at all, and his
apparent loyalty to the Grinning Skulls clan is merely the result of
deeply-rooted conditioning brought on by countless war marches and near-death
beatings for falling out of line in his youth. Hatred of Elves, however, is
innate and immutable. Dwarven hatred is a learned response to being struck
with their axes and hammers many times.

Extreme detachment and cowardice are his guardians angels, the only things
that enable him to survive his unforgiving and stupid life. Without any
delusions about his natural role in any given situation, and without caring
to maintain any reputation or status if it's too risky, he is uniquely
unfettered even for an Orc, as the other Berserkers won't let humiliation or
attacks on their name slide so easily. He is relatively small and nimble,
and naturally took to training as a Skrugga, which he reliably lies about
even though he internally feels no shame. He will act quite boldly with 
others at times but knows that he can always slip back into the obscurity of 
the horde if the pressure ever gets too much.

While the tiny, flan-like organ in his skull is too simple to ever directly
control magic, Porg has been fascinated by it ever since traveling beyond his 
village, and especially loves explosive displays of elemental energy, most of 
all when they chain out of control and multiply. The experience is like a 
small boy seeing fireworks for the first time. He is thus captivated by the
infinite possibilities that arise out of shredding the veil down to the very
brink of being, and will bring tribute to the shredders/couriers in the rift
regularly.

A new Chieftain

Porg never aspired to be chief. Life is much simpler at either side of the
big man in charge - or better yet, cringing behind him. But having the former
Chief in command is simply scarier than being Chief yourself. Porg waited for
Selbugh, the old champion, to reclaim the throne instead, but alas...
Life is too short, and the Chief talks too much. The horn of challenge
sounded out from the temple.

Indomitable, mighty, battle-tested and brave, the enormous giant crossed the
border between past and present and fought like a hero of legend. Porg
watched from a safe distance, kicking dirt and snaking out the lash when
opportunity beckoned. It was messy and chaotic, but ended with a decisive
swing, and the young Chief Cendrun's guts twisting out into a tangle on the
giant's halberd like spaghetti on a dinner fork.

A new leader is crowned, new alliances forged, and for the moment,
a lifelong coward is feeling just a little bold.
