Description

From the neck down it appears to be a remarkable specimen of its arial heritage. A brilliant blue plume marked with specks of silver and black covers most of its body. Its wings are also a beautiful blue and peppered with same silver and black, growing denser as they near the tips. However, you hardly seem to notice this, as your attention is focused on the mutilated face of this arial. There is an open cavity where its beak would have been, giving you an obscene glimpse into the inside of its mouth. Its eyelids have been unevenly cut off, giving it a hideous bug-eyed appearance that does nothing to contain the look of pure hatred in its eyes. Burn marks cover much of its face: The tell tale signs of hot metal searing away the once beautiful feathers seem to scream out in an agony of their own. You notice a thick book stuffed into one of the pockets of its robe. A menagerie of mismatched pages and loose paper, the bulk of the book appears to have been created after its binding.A strange odor permeates the air around this beast. Upon closer inspection you realize that the stench seems to be coming from one or more of the many flasks and globulets that are tucked away into his belt pouch. Or maybe the stench is just coming from him?

Role

Harbinger of suffering

Added Fri Dec 19 13:26:58 2008 at level 37:
The culprit that helped complete his break from society and, as many would
claim, sanity, was the work of Amberlea Von Straaden. The immortal words of
the cantor stirred a hunger in Pzuryxal that he had never known before. It
was not the particular teachings of the cult that drew his attention, nor a
desire to relive the ancient antiquity that was the Cult of the Ruby Scarab.
Above all, it was the desire to harness the darkness that dwells in us all
that called to him.

As Pzuryxal studied the ancient texts he began to see an underlying theme
behind them. The aspect of suffering as the greater purpose of mortal
existence, it was the unquestionable order behind the chaos of life. Many of
the older faiths used it as a weapon and some even as an end. The likes of
Vilhazarog and Beroxxus treated suffering as mean in itself, where as the
faiths of ShaidarHaran, Enlilth and Agathocles saw it as a means to an end.

It was not until he read the scriptures of Cyradia, did the transmuter truly
understand the role of suffering in the realm. Suffering was the lot of all
living things, the singular purpose in life and those chosen few that
embraced this truth would be exalted by the meek through hatred. Suffering
would become his art and pain his weapon, and if he applied it well enough
and for long enough, perhaps the demon goddess would smile upon him.

Dark rising

Added Fri Dec 19 13:22:58 2008 at level 37:
It has been some years since his arrival in the Hamsah chapter of the guild.
These years have done little to curb the insatiable appetite of the demented
transmuter. With each passing day Pzuryxal has found new methods of
tormenting those he refers to as the meek. For the unfortunate eunuch there
was little pleasure to be had in life except from the suffering of others.

Perhaps the most damaging of all have been the days and weeks the young
transmuter spent in the lyceum.Pzuryxal began to delve into studies that
had been outlawed in Arial City. The treatises on Inferno prepared by
Sranu, varied tomes on the nature of magic and death by Valguarnera,
Oroxazrian and Llarandraz. Most of all he learned of the dark faiths& He
studied the teachings of the different cults of the realm that have existed
over the ages. He learned of the two cults of the Scarab, the dark churches
of Beroxxus, Vilhazarog, and the legend of Nazmorghul, these all helped him
descend into a darkness eons in the making.

A new mistress

Added Mon Dec 8 00:19:16 2008 at level 8:
A broken, mutilated and rejected Pzuryxal was returned to his cell while the
Emperor contemplated his fate. Whether it was the guilt of the Emperor or
the persuasiveness of the Princess that kept the executioner's axe at bay is
unknown, but Pzuryxal was banished from the kingdom and deposited in the
Hamsah Mutazz chapter of the transmutation guild. There is very little left
of Pzuryxal that resembles the arial he was before his arrest. His mind is
now every bit as mutilated as his body, the pear sundered the connection that
all living things have with others. There is no empathy left in him, no
love, and most of all, no mercy. The twisted transmuter has found a new
mistress, she sustains him, nourishes him, and loves him... and her name is
Pain.

The rejection

Added Mon Dec 8 00:17:51 2008 at level 8:
A deeply mournful Emperor returned from a viewing of the prisoner, appalled
at what had been done to Pzuryxal in his name. He had not sanctioned the
brutality that took place in the cells, but neither had he put a stop to it.
Out of concern for his daughters well-being, the Emperor gave into her
demands. In his opinion, if she still wanted to have this "thing" she very
well could. A broken and mutilated Pzuryxal was brought before the horrified
princess. She hardly recognized him as he stood before her, and her only
response to him was a blood-curdling scream of disbelief and outrage& outrage
that any living being would feel when confronted by the walking atrocity that
Pzuryxal had become.

The Pear of Anguish

Added Mon Dec 8 00:16:35 2008 at level 8:
The princess swore to make her father see the light of reason and grant
Pzuryxal the right to courtship by any means necessary. With professions of
faith and undying love the two parted company when the royal guard came for
Pzuryxal. Life would have been quite a bit shorter and much more merciful
had the princess forgotten about him at that time. Instead she mounted a
hunger strike and made a promise to end her life should anything happen to
Pzuryxal. The hunger strike lasted for weeks, long agonizing and soul
breaking weeks. For each day that the princess's threats kept him alive,
Pzuryxal was the recipient of unimaginable torture. During the first few
days of his imprisonment, the true culprit behind his crimes was removed from
his body. From what Pzuryxal remembers of those horrific days, it was a slow
and excruciating process, the actual dismemberment done over days. With each
passing day, new and gruesome methods were put to use on the mutilated body
of Pzuryxal.

If there had been any hope to limit his break from society, it was lost to
the pear of anguish. The pear had been created as a means of extracting
information, but its victims far too often went completely mad and were not
capable of divulging any secrets. Shaped like a pear, the instrument
consisted of four leaves that slowly separated from each other as the
torturer turned the screw at the top. It was the torturer's decision to
simply tear the skin or expand the "pear" to its maximum and mutilate the
victim. When used on the mouth it had a rather unfavorable side effect of
causing dementia as it expanded within the victim's skull cavity and caused
damaged to the brain& among other things.

An unfulfilled desire

Added Mon Dec 8 00:13:29 2008 at level 8:
The benevolence of life is a boon so great that its tragedies, great and
small, are often overlooked through the window of time.Yet sometimes these
violations are so great that they cause an individual to completely break
with society. They become pariahs as much as victims. One such victim was
Pzuryxal Crulient. His is a story as old as time& boy meets girl, love at
first sight, disapproving parents. However, this is where things get
complicated. This girl was the High Princess of Arial city.

It all started quite innocently really& At first it was just hidden smiles
exchanged between the two as they continued their studies in the guild of
transmutation. As the months and years went by, their love for each other
had blossomed into a full- fledged affair. Both of them were committed to
discretion but, as the saying goes, secrets having a way of coming out.
Crimes against the royal family carried the strictest of penalties, and in
the eyes of the Emperor, bedding the heir apparent was treason. An arrest
warrant was issued, and served with frightening efficiency, with the news
that the princess would bear a bastard child.
