Description

Fine black and brown hair, very short and shiny cover the exposed skin of this figure. Staunch muscles and a slender frame show that he may not be the most apt physically but his posture speaks volumes to the time spent in study. Soft skins form a robe and cowl, draped over his back and the mixture of ink-stained leather armament. Only two items really take a moment to inspect, one jeweled necklace with some sort of animals claw draped from its center and a flickering ring of unknown gemstone upon the middle finger of his left paw. A last glance shows only a few remnants of twigs, ground clutter along his robe dragging the ground and...

Role

In the Darkness

Added Sun Mar 26 09:05:50 2017 at level 4:
It was a starless night, so dark and drab that not even the faintest movement
could be seen in the distance, it was even difficult to see what was within
arms length. All around, shallow gurgling and a few popping bubbles erupted on
their way through some filthy muck and the fetid smell of rotting carrion
permeated the moisture laden air. While taking step after step, the earth
below tugged at some tanned leather boots, it did not want to relinquish its
temporary prizes after having its surface punctured and marred but the trudging
would not stop. What seems like hours of begrudgingly mushing along underneath
the low-hanging mossy branches and the mottled underbrush of gnarled limbs
turns into a wellspring of feeling, from somewhere deep within. Though it
begins as just a few chilly, sweaty drops of perspiration, it begins to form a
tightening and knotting down inside the abyssal depths of the soul but soon the
tangled, clawing masses of thorn, vine and branch give way to an opening and
all goes silent. The feeling from within dissipates, a strange illuminessensce
shines a ruddy hue above an ominously still stand of vegetation and a chilling
calm sweeps throughout, replacing the sensation of knotted innards. And then,
it happens. Two insignificant red dots appear deep the dimly-lit weeds and
begins parting them ever so slowly. Now, it, whatever "it" is, is stalking,
prowling forward and preparing to pounce.

Out of the Darkness

Added Sun Mar 26 09:07:01 2017 at level 4:
*Boom**Boom**Thump*, *Boom**Boom**Thump* my heart races almost as if it feels
like it'll bound out of my chest and my eyes fly open, the rest of my body
still shaken and twitching from the electrical pulses running wildly through my
muscles. It was the same dream once more I thought, as I begin to calm myself
back down to an evening slumber. After all, I pondered, tomorrow is a big day.

The anointing ceremony was set to begin just after dawn's rise, in a small
forest south of Blackclaw Fort. And although I had told myself many times that
I would follow in my fathers footsteps, I'd live up to his expectations, I
wasn't entirely sure what I'd do once it was my turn.

The weather was cool, with the tiniest bit of nip in the air. The ground
underneath my feet was crunching just the smallest amount and I felt nervous,
yet very alive. My leathers were already arranged and my mother had already
prepared me with the ceremonial paints. All around, others of my felar kin
were donning the proper garb, preparing themselves with paints and appearing to
look forward towards the hilltop. I could see the excitement in their eyes.
To me though, every time I glanced there, I felt as if I would be heading to
the gallows.

The big moment came, as so many others had come before me. Take the mark, call
out your profession, doff the yoke of responsibility and burden. I tried, but
the words would not make their way past my tongue. I tried again but nothing
but the same stagnant silence befell my maw, and then it happened. I professed
that I was leaving and that I would not do as they all wished, I would not
become the Shaman, the Chief. And, as I professed all the aching feelings that
I'd repressed so long, including my desire to learn magic, I watched.

Many of the women and children were now crying, my father and mother simply
gaped in disbelief, and some of the men began to form that gnarled sneer of
hate upon their faces. "Grarth" they began to yell, "Betrayer" they shouted,
but I didn't care because I was going to do as I wanted from now on, that
burden was now lifted. Tomorrow I'd go to the guild of Shapeshifters, I'd
learn the trade I'd always wanted and learn to unleash the wild that I'd felt
inside.

Thoughts on Magi and Magic

Added Sun Apr 2 05:53:21 2017 at level 23:
In the beginning, Qarodeth left his nomadic tribe because of a rebellious
spirit and a feeling, No, a need, not to be tied down. Since then, he has
embarked upon the journey to become a master Shapeshifter and has even learned
his first full shifting, the swamp rat form. However, it was his brief stint
within the guild that taught him a more "refined" sense of speech than most of
his kin but also further ingrained his dislike of the civilized world and to a
certain degree, many people.

Magi of all sorts are an interesting sort and are considerably more wise in the
ways of the outside world, to him, this is something to emulate. Although
these thoughts rattle around in the forefront of his conscious mind, his inner
desire still yearns for carnage and destruction. He feels it rise from time to
time in his guttural growls and especially through his animal incarnation. His
more animalistic side also leads to his persistent licking to groom himself,
even though he's made an effort to abate the practice.

Thoughts on Predators and Destruction

Added Sun Apr 2 05:54:47 2017 at level 23:
Qarodeth has always enjoyed breaking, burning, and generally destroying things.
He'd break toys and other constructions built by his kin as a child. He'd
burn insects and leaves and whatever was available, just to find out what would
happen or to observe how they would burn and although he hid much of it, he
enjoyed the wanton destruction.

Through the years not much has changed in this portion of his psyche but he has
managed to notice some subtleties and reasons why simple destruction isn't just
enjoyable but can be of purpose. He had an encounter with a group of people
called the OneHearts and although he found them exceedingly soft, they did
teach him of one important thing, "Her". Thar-Eris the source of where he
lives. Believed to be the source of creation herself, the very living lands.
He believes his innate drive to destroy is akin to the notion of a predator or
a cleansing fire and quite possibly, his purpose is to do what he can in an
effort to fill that role.

The Cycle

Added Sun Apr 16 18:39:56 2017 at level 44:
Flickering, floating, drifting effortlessly across the wild and wayward winds.
Charred ember, buoyantly blowing by with the faintest glow against the dark sky.
Dimly, dully illuminated with a dingy and diminishing ruddy amber hue.
Silently breathing the last living breath while dancing with a natural grace.
Exhaling the final vile and acrid vision of venomous visible vapors.
Crashing gently into the bountiful macrocosm of terrestrial terra firma.
Sputtering, darkening, crumbling with the last few crackles of tinder conflagration.

Cooling before the embrace of the boisterously rolling wilderness breeze.
Faint kindling, sharing bodily warmth amongst tightly tingling tubular tinder.
Staunchly supporting the first glowing footprints snaking and trailing along.
Puffs and trails of cloudy haze arise mimicking the flicking drake's tongue.
Imbibing the crisply flowing air currents, drinking them wholly, unending.
Arching now beyond ember, flickering, licking, extending toward the expanse.
White.. Blue.. Red.. Orange.. Amber.. Gold.. Glowing.. Raging.. Growing.. Engulfing..

Augmentation.

Added Mon Apr 17 07:23:24 2017 at level 44:
Crackling, stretching, bending and shaping, magically shifting organs and
structure to physically meet demanding needs of the caster is the life of a
Shapeshifter. Early in their lives, only a few minor magical attributes can be
changed, horns on the head, fangs into teeth, hands or paws into claws, small
twinges of pain that encompass the sudden jolt upon the body and it's systems.
Minuscule results encompass these changes, slightly tougher skin, more vicious
attacks, or venomous bites all have their uses but only scratch the surface of
this magical path.

The result of many years of training and practice with these minor changes
brings about real change in the form of whole body restructuring. These
changes seem to be highly influenced by chaos magic because there appear to be
no structure to which ones will appear in the mage's repertoire nor is there
any pattern as to when they'll receive within their studies. Qarodeth has
always sought the biggest claws and meanest teeth, his studies thus far have
yet to yield much of that but they have caused him to feel monumentally more
potent than his body typically allows. These whole-body changes, he feels,
encompass more than the physicality and spatter augmented thoughts throughout a
mind overtaken by animalian ferocity. To this affect, he has come to embrace
them, wholly.

16 11 An Immortal An Immortal added 1000 exp for: Descriptive approach to a felar south of Blackclaw doing a test for his place in society. Ends up blurting out he's not going to do any of it, and that he's going to leave! On towards chaotic magic!
17 11 An Immortal An Immortal added 50 exp for: For helping someone on the newbie channel.
23 28 An Immortal An Immortal added 400 exp for: Got some forms, a bit animalistic, likes breaking/burning stuff, and going for Thar-Eris as a predator type.
44 80 An Immortal An Immortal added 400 exp for: A very interesting writing style. The first update was some sort of poem-like tale of the cycles and the second explained the feel of shifting forms and the fact that he is embracing them.
51 124 Whiysdan Good presence for Outlander lately. Enjoy the lastname!
