Description

His skin is colored deep purple, unusual for his race, and he is marked by a long black mustache and beard that flows down across his chest, nearly reaching his waist. His eyes are sharp and marked by a keen intensity. His body is broad, well-muscled and thick in the chest and belly, and he wears long colorful robes and clothing over his armors. Emblazoned on the robe, spanning across his chest, is a depiction of a massive green scaled sea serpent, its coils twisting in circles of vivid color. You notice a blinding white streak around each of his wrists. Closer inspection reveals them to be tatoos of white arctic bears, mouths agape so that they appear to swallow his hands.

Role

Our Land

Added Thu Apr 7 15:28:21 2005 at level 1:
"Our Land"
These words are tattooed on his back from shoulder to shoulder in
bright white-blue runes. Not etched by Qing Long's hand, but by
his mother's, so that he should not forget where his loyalty lies.
Qing Long was born in lands near the Western Aryth, but these
lands were not what his mother meant. She meant all lands
beneath the heavens where Ancients played. That all these lands
and peoples must be free.

Qing Long aged, and came to understand what it meant to protect
these lands, and he understood what it was that threatened them.
The Western Aryth is not far from Seantryn Modan, and he saw
men in chains, bound to serve the will of another. These men had
broken spirits and lost the fire within them that made them men,
and they were to be pitied. But Qing Long only felt anger at those
who enslaved them and broke their spirits. He saw Seantryn grow
North, South, East, West, plowing forests and creatures as it
moved, these two were like the men enslaved. These lands and
tree spirits were destroyed or lost the fire within them that made
them natural and unbound. Again, Qing Long knew the taste of
anger at those who enslaved them and broke their spirits.

But anger leads to bitterness and self-loathing unless one has the
Courage to see beyond it to what must be done. Qing Long sees
the power of Seantryn Modan. Understands the strength of its
armies. Qing Long has traveled much, to Hamsah, Galadon,
Udgaard. He has seen many Seantryn Modans, many Empires
driven by will to bind and enslave. Here he understands the nature
of the words stretched across his skin, and knows what must be
done. The slavemasters must be pushed back and destroyed, and
the lands and spirits within them must stir and be freed so that all
beneath the heavens roams unbound once more. This will take
much Courage to face what must be faced.

Other Introductory Notes:

PERSONALITY
Qing Long lives large. He is a big man, big voice, big appetite,
and driven by bold emotions. He enjoys testing his strength in
combat and war, but he enjoys the pleasures in life, as well.

EARLY GOALS
Qing Long's early goals are to gain the blessing of Ordasen, the
Ancient White Bear, and to join the Outlanders of Thar-Eris. Then
he will wreak havoc among the slavemasters.

SHIFT: Ordasen and Outlander

Added Wed Apr 20 15:43:02 2005 at level 27:
EARLY GOALS: MET
Qing obtained both the initial blessing of Ordasen and fights
among the Outlanders of Thar-Eris. To do this, he had to evaluate
the nature of his "War" and reconcile following Ordasen with the
expectations placed on "The Sunny Path" (tm) of Outlander (as
interpreted by Gileanas). Basically, "Sunny" Outlanders aren't
supposed to "enjoy" bloodshed and war. But Ordasen followers,
on the other hand, seek out War for its and their own ends.

Qing reconciled the two by focusing on what it is that drives him
to become a "Warrior." He separated the drive into two facets: (1)
War serves its own ends, and (2) War serves Qing's ends. War's
own ends are chaos and disruption. These are aspects of churning
the world into Thar-Eris - like a bitter storm, it tears apart the
world so that a new one can replace it. Like the storm, it is
necessary for cleansing and rebirth. War serves Qing's ends
because he is driven by the desire to free men's hearts and end
slavery in all its forms. War fills hearts with blood, courage, and
fire, and gives people the strength to overcome their bindings and
fear and learn how to live again.

Thus, it is not bloodshed that drives Qing to pursue War, it is the
results and change that War brings - both in the warriors and in the
world.

He explained this to Gileanas and was allowed into the Refuge. It
remains to be seen whether Ordasen will grant more than His
initial blessing.
