Description
Qualmu is a fierce figure, tall and thickly furred. His strength is hidden
beneath his thick coat, though a certain litheness can be seen in his sure,
quick movements. A broad face frames a harrowing visage, tufts of fur droop
from his ears and cheeks, yet almost mistakenly not from his chin, as if
thick mutton chops drop to a definitive point. Streaks of black fur, border
his eyes, and follow the tufts to their end. Twin ears curl upwards, tussocks
black as night, resembling horns nearly touch above his brow. His broad nose
is flanked by soft golden eyes holding black diamonds for irises.
His thick tawny fur fades dark brown on his back, to a creamy white on his
stomach. Black splotches are patterned in a repeating fashion along his long
arms, torso, and gangly legs. Unseemly broad paws grip his weapons, and
equally unusually wide rear paws silently pad the ground. Gore can be seen
caught between claws, and blood tinging the tips of his guard hairs red.
Unlike most felar, Qualmu has a short bobbed tail, just long enough to
sport whatever form of decor fits his whims.

Humble Beginnings.

The past is something, many seek to forget. It cannot be changed, and many
would say should not shape your future. But to forget the past, many turn to
carnal pleasures, psychedelic drugs, or other distractions. For Quamlu, that
distraction is the dance with death, the waging of war.
The stories told to him, but other kits of the street, was that he was
abandoned by his mother, a mercenary. She could not make a living with him in
tow, for no one would hire her services. What was known of his father was
even less.
But growing up on the streets of the Blackclaw village, is not for the faint
of heart. Murder and theft are common, and the punishments for being caught
are all the harsher. The worst who lurked those streets were the
anti-paladins, who took their anger, despair, or whichever other disparaging
emotion out on those who could not protect themselves. Quamlu never stopped
to wonder how he avoided major injury or worse from their hands, but it must
have been that he did not back down from a fight, and his reputation
proceeded him.
To better protect himself, he would slink in the shadows and watch the
training in the salle, from his earliest of days. It is amazing what one can
learn from watching, pondering, waiting, and finally engaging. This was where
Quamlu learned the essential art of war, patience and cunning are just as
important as tenacity and fierceness. In time, he would approach the
students, challenging them, and before long the warriors guild approached
him about membership.
Blessings of the Lynx.

Quamlu is proud of his felar heritage, and all the intricacies it entails.
The feline characteristics of each felar are unique, some are as a house cat,
docile and caring. Others as fierce as the tigers stripes they wear upon
their back. Quamlu is no different, though he is very unique in his heritage
among felar.
The lynx holds spiritual significance for many nomadic tribes of felar and
other barbarians. Viewed as enigmatic masters and of disguise, the Lynx often
cloaks its intentions in misdirection. Riddles fascinate the lynx, and as
such, in the stories of lynx spirit animals, few of them offer straight
answers to any question. Infuriating.
Quamlu holds many of these personality traits, just as his body bears witness
to the tawny coat, bobbed tail, full mask and ear tufts. He sees war as an
escape from his past, and perhaps more importantly, as the ultimate riddle to
be solved.
How is it the lesser force can succeed? When battle lines are drawn, why is
it some who fall to chaos succeed, where others structure prevails? How can
one win the battle and lose the war? There is nuance to every engagement and
skirmish, and to study war, requires a broad view, one Quamlu holds from his
lynx heritage.
His unique ties to his heritage is also why he despises shapeshifters, second
only to anti-paladins. He observed many weak and frail felar take to their
guild. Instead of embracing the blessings of their feline heritage, they
forsake it in an effort to bury their own past, and assume new forms. Simply
disgusting.
Life in the Village.

The battle of uncertainty, favors the rash. This was one of the first lessons
taught to me by Weianth, the Blackclaw Guildmaster. When I first killed
Rodrivar, a mage preparing the Anathema Ninjin to assault the Village, and I
pledged to Tahren my life to the War against the magics, I did not wholly
understand what I was pledging too. But I knew it was not to sit on the
sidelines and let the Wars pass me by.
I was lucky the Drillmaster Phelzis saw my rage, saw my aptitude of the
blade, and then took a chance, knowing that in time, I would learn. One
cannot expect all young ones to know every tale of ancient battle glory, or
to recite the tablet they have never seen. These things come with time, and
the Drillmaster accepted that.
But, it was not from either of these sources that I found my path in the war
of the Village of Battleragers. It was upon the various writings, carvings
and tapestries held within War Room of the Village, that my study of war was
rewarded most profoundly.
When I swore the village, I made the fifth villager. For some time, we
remained five strong, though now are only seven. The teachings held within
spoke of a smaller force, utilizing strategy, tactics, and profound use of
the land to hold off greater foes. I studied these, and learned them well,
dying when not heeding them. These teachings revealed parts of the Riddle of
War.
I work now, under the leadership of Commander Gultar to grow the village, and
perhaps in time, in order that other revelations of these teachings will be
made.
