Description

Your gaze has been drawn to a peculiar looking diminutive creature. This man stands only as tall as a small human child is covered from head to toe in vicsious jagged scars. His back is bent and his spine is crooked and his left hand is missing two fingers. Despite his hobbled appearance he seems to move with a certain fluid grace and bears the armaments of a warrior. Looking into his overly large gray eyes you see the spark of an inner fire burning within.Hung over his armor from shoulder to shoulder is a peculiar leather strap that has had hundreds of loops strung onto it. Amongst the sea of loops you spot sixty severed fingers.

Role

The first task

I crouched low on the ledge the chill winds wiping at my back as I watched my
foe below.  Below me stood a massive behemoth of a man, with skin as white as
frost bearing a massive wicked axe. Where have you gone little morsel! he
cried as he cut down trees with sweeping blows of his massive axe.  For four
days myself and the leader of the frost giants had done battle across the
frigid wastelands and surrounding evergreen forests.  Many times the giant
had nearly had me but I had continued to find a way to cut him and evade his
mighty blows.  Jumnarl bleed heavily from several wounds but he barely seemed
to notice them as he continue searching for me.Calling once more to my
village training I prepared myself for battle and launched myself over the
ridge dropping down behind Jumnarl.

I dashed in quickly before he noticed me and smashed my twin axes into the
soft flesh at the back of his knee, my efforts were met with a loud crack and
I knew I had broken the knee.  The massive giant crashed to the ground with a
roar lashing at me with his axe.  A quick dive brought me barely under the
edge of his passing blade and I quickly sprung up and chopped at his throat.
With a gurgle his lifeblood began to spill out onto the ground and I gave him
a few more chops just to make sure he was done.Reaching down I claimed my
prize for the noldarian smith, the wicked double bladed axe of Jumnarl.

As I admired the blade I though about how not so long ago my life had been so
much different.I am learning more and more how to be part of a social
group, after being nothing more then a drone for so long it took me a while
but the easy going attitude of the dwarves in the village have begun to rub
off on me.  I still fight the curse those damn mages left on me that prevents
me revealing any knowledge about them and I was even able to finally choke
out a few words recently.  I must continue my training for I fear one day
they may come to silence me for they value nothing greater then secrecy and
such strong magic I have not yet witnessed in my short time on the surface
world.

The past

Very little is known of the Quass past before he showed up at the academy
gates.  The academy recruiters attempted to inquire into his past and while
Quas seemed eager to share his story each time he tried to speak his tongue
twisted and his body went into seizures as if something was preventing him
from speaking.  What is known is that his past left his body a writhing mass
of scars and broken bones and he had lost a couple of fingers very recently
before his arrival.  His awkward social skills suggest that he did not have
much opportunity for social pleasantries in his past life.  When the academy
healers came to tend his wounds he turned them away and when mages were
nearby he had to be restrained.

The future
The wounds of Quas run far deeper then the scars that mar his body.
He is driven to become pure and whole and in this quest he seeks to learn the
ways of the noldarian smiths.  He is burdened by a curse that he seeks to
break by achieving inner strength.
