Role
A Failed Blacksmith
Added Tue Aug 20 21:30:26 2013 at level 26:
Rahzeez was born to a blacksmith in a kingdom of fire giants who live
in a very remote dormant volcano in southern Thera. It is so remote that
the only ones to have any ties with them were the races of the underdark.
It is impossible to get to the volcano on land, but underground the drow
found a hidden path that leads to the ancient lava tubes, vents, and
empty magma chambers where the giants reside. The drow showed the giants
their secrets of alchemy and metallurgy to create stronger metal alloys.
It was the natural strength and stamina that allowed the giants to forge
mass quantities of adamantite and crucible steel weapons and armor. It
as a perfect match, as both the drow and fire giant races saw it.
In the kingdom where Rahzeez resided, only those of royal blood were
allowed to study the arts of combat and the ways of the warrior. It was
Rahzeez's dream to be nothing more than a glorious soldier who fought
with fierce might and passion for war. He would often sneak into the
soldier's training fort and watch them train. Almost every time though,
he was caught and sent to the punisher, and paid for his disobedience
with many lashes from a wicked barbed cat. Before long, his entire
body would show the scars.
Rahzeez was one of the strongest of his race, born with the stength of
his father. Unfortunately, Rahzeez had trouble learning the extent of
his own strength. Striking the metal to hard, he cracked many pieces
of armor and many blades, wasting days or sometimes weeks of work. The
pieces he did make that seemed to pass inspection, eventually failed
and broke in battle. Every piece a blacksmith makes is stamped with
his name, so when a piece fails they know who to blame. This resulted
in even more trips to the torture chamber, and before long Rahzeez's
entire body showed signs of scaring.
Rahzeez's father worried his son would not outlive him, if his son's
life was to continue the way it was. He told his drow customers of
his son's wish to be a soldier in a great army, but that he would not
ever be allowed to since he was not of royal blood. Two drow warrios
snuck into the forge and watched Rahzeez from the shadows, observing
his hammer strikes. They could see he was not meant to make armor
and weapons, but he should rather be destroying them in battle.

The drow agreed if Rahzeez's father would forge them weapons at lower
cost, that they would take his son and train him in the ways of the
warrior. The local authorities had no problem letting Rahzeez go,
as they saw him more of a problem than anything. They did not see
the full potential in his strong arms, the drow however did.
Rahzeez took to combat like a fish to water. He learned all that the
drow were willing to teach him. In fear the student would soon be
giving the instructor lessens, they told Rahzeez they had no more to
teach him, and that he would need to find further training on his
own. So it was to the surface that Rahzeez ventured. The drow told
him of a place called the academy that would teach him more of Thera.
Rahzeez Vyr'Rakahz
Added Tue Aug 20 21:32:28 2013 at level 26:
-Rahzeez grew up learning the life of a merchant, as his father was one
and a blacksmith. The kingdom he grew up in had many regulations and
laws to follow, with the threat of torture and death to those who
opposed them. Such regulations allowed the organizatoin of such a
civilization and a fierce unstopable army of fire giant soldiers that
could overrun any opponent. To Rahzeez Order was power, and those who
understood it and use it were the ones wielding the power.
-Being punished for his mistakes only hardened Rahzeez, for what does
kill one only makes them stronger. If the kingdom he was raised in had
allowed him to join the service, he would have been a commander in
charge very quickly.
-The teachings the drow gave Rahzeez supported his view of strength,
for he could see the fear in them when they saw the power of his swing
and the ever-lasting stamina. He knew they feared him, which was the
real reason they sent him to the surface. Only the strong can survive
in any world, but the weak are not to be ignored, for all have their
place in a world of civilization. He was eager to learn more of it
on the surface, among the many diverse races that exist.
-Rahzeez learned from the drow strength is not always of the flesh.
He realized that his kin who seclude themselves from the rest of Thera
were weakened by their arrogance, as there are many other races to tie
alliances with . He learned from them to observe others, to think, to
learn. Just because you see another race as inferior to yours, does not
make them obsolete.
-Rahzeez learned of the many mental weaknesses from the drow. Often
times it is those mental strength that lead the physically strong ones
around like dogs on a leash. Rahzeez could forsee he would need to be
just as strong mentaly if he was ever to be the leader of a great army.
In the academy, Rahzeez learned of a select sect of fighters who had
the many strengths that he wished to attain, the Imperial Blades was
what they were called. So after many long years of training, Rahzeez
sought them out, and after some words with a recruiter he took the
bloodoath, binding him to the Imperial Codex.
Training
Added Wed Oct 2 23:11:27 2013 at level 51:
Rahzeez put himself through extensive physical training in attempts to
be the strongest Imperial Blade ever. He spent weeks in battle, study-
-ing all of the weapons he could, and if he was not alone he was aiding
other Citizens. Everything he did was for the Empire. Every swing of
his swords, every treasure he collected, every bit of knowledge he had
learned, it was all to prove himself and to be an example of what a
strong Imperial Blade should be like. Every task given to him by his
superiors was carried out as commanded. When the Codex was taken away
he would retrieve it. When Anathema walked Thera and Rahzeez could harm
them, they were put to death and their belongings taken and given to
the Emperor. Rahzeez, able to complete his tasks, was not only granted
higher confidence, but he was promoted among the Blades up to being an
Elite of the Blades.
Emperor Merf saw great potential in Rahzeez as he spoke of it openly.
Rahzeez had done everything the Emperor had asked of him, and for his
hard work promised Rahzeez the position of War Master of the Empire.
Not being advanced in his guild enough to take up the position as War
Master, Rahzeez was instructed to reach the pinnacle of his guild, and
the Emperor would promote him to War Master.
Search for Wisdom
Added Wed Oct 2 23:12:07 2013 at level 51:
Rahzeez worked swiftly with the other Citizens, but all the time he was
strengthening his physical prowess and his abilities, he felt as if he
was neglecting something. It was his own mind he worried about. His
race was not granted the sharpest of wit, great intellegence as many
magical arts required, or deep wisdom and foresight. Although he was
smart about battle, preperation, timing, and other such things, he
feared he would not be ready to manage the entire Blade Sect. He
was not a seer, nor a politician. Rahzeez knew he needed the aid of
some other Citizen to aid him in such dealings, but in doing so would
be a sign of weakness. Rahzeez could not have this, for he was to be
an example of strength in all forms. In deep thought the obvious
answer came to him, he would ask the God of Strength himself, Lord
Enlilth. Rahzeez often went to the Lords place of worship and asked
for guidance, and though the Immortal Lord never granted Rahzeez with
his presence Rahzeez never gave up and continued to pray to who he saw
was the strongest of the Theran Immortals.
Politics
Added Wed Oct 2 23:14:09 2013 at level 51:
Rahzeez reached his guild's pinnacle and Emperor Merf told him he would
keep his promise and promote him to the War Master position. He first
needed to see the War Master to demote him and explain the situation.
Unfortunately for Rahzeez, the War Master would not be demoted before
hearing about what was to come. One day Rahzeez was fending off many
enemies of the Empire, and while off somewhere resting and tending to a
cut artery, he was marked as a betrayer of the Empire, an Anathema.
Rahzeez asked the War Master what had happened, he dd not respond. He
waited, thinking something had gone wrong in some sort of confusion,
and then asked again. The War Master still did not respond, and left
Thera to slumber. Time went by and some of the Imperial Citizens told
Rahzeez they thought the War Master feared of being demoted, and making
Rahzeez anathema eliminated him as a threat to Raijik's power.
Emperor Merf and Rahzeez spoke of the matter, and Rahzeez told what had
happened. The Emperor knew Rahzeez spoke true, but before he would trust
Rahzeez completely, before he could know for certain that the betrayal
from the War Master had not soured Rahzeez's honesty and loyalty toward
the Empire, he told Rahzeez to show he meant all he said. He would do
so by giving himself to the Emperor and letting his blessed unholy
weapon feed off his soul and his mind. Rahzeez did as the Emperor
commanded, and let himself be put to death by the Emperor's hand in
battle. Rahzeez told the Emperor he would never give up, and that he
would always live by the words he spoke when taking the Bloodoath. He
would give his heart, his soul, and his entire life to the Empire.
Pleased with his once previous Blade, the Emperor told Rahzeez he would
keep his promise, and that Rahzeez would be the next War Master.
Rahzeez continued to gather for the Imperial coffers, and keep himself
in training. Rahzeez would not give up, and continued to strengthen his
body and mind, waiting ready and prepared for what was next to come.
Merf, A Weak Emperor
Added Tue Nov 12 00:58:45 2013 at level 51:
Rahzeez had his doubts about Merf. So far he had seen the Emperor make
many promises to many people, some Imperial Citizens and some not, but
he saw very few of them come true. In fact the only promise Merf was
able to carry out was making Finley Beergut the Dread Lord for leaving
the Spire and joining the Empire. Rahzeez's doubts in Merf's abilities
were only strengthened further when Merf asked Rahzeez to, again, let
Merf's weapon feed off Rahzeez's soul. Merf's reasoning was it would
prove Rahzeez's loyalty was still for the Empire, and was not soured
after being wrongfully made anathema to Empire. It was the exact same
thing Merf told him before, and even though when the deed was carried
out Merf said that Rahzeez was done proving his loyalty, he now asked
him to repeat it.
Rahzeez was in no position to argue with Merf, and did what was asked.
He removed his weapons and armor then allowed Merf's weapon it to feed
his soul and mind, again. This confirmed Rahzeez's doubts in Merf as
Emperor and to the fire-kin of giants. It was a sign of weakness, it
was lies, something Rahzeez hated more than anything. To Rahzeez,
the future of the Empire was most important, and he would do all that
would be asked of him. Rahzeez kept his hope strong, and to his luck
it was not long before before the day came that he was asked to return
to the Imperial Lands. Once he arrived the Imperial Lords made Rahzeez
no longer anathema to the Empire. He took the Bloodoath again and then
deposited all he had collected in his time of exile.
Rahzeez could now focus on his greatest concern, a weak Emperor. Even
before when first he was a Blade Rahzeez had heard rumors, whispers,
talk of Merf and his great stupidity. He was not alone in doubting
the dark paladin, and it had not changed in Rahzeez's absence. The
rumors had grown, and now whispers of plot to overthrow Merf could be
heard about the palace. Merf must have heard the whispers, for he left
Thera permanently shortly after Rahzeez heard them. Merf being gone
was a huge feeling of relief to Rahzeez, and when the only Citizen he
truely trusted, Gedunthos, was named Emperor, Rahzeez felt the hope
inside of him grow.
Gedunthos, A Strong Emperor
Added Tue Nov 12 01:01:10 2013 at level 51:
Everyone could feel it, a once again a strong Emperor stood at the
Imperial Throne. Gedunthos had been around long before Rahzeez came up
in the rankings of the warrior's guild. He was sharp wit, and with the
years of experience as an Imperial Shadow he took to the position as
Emperor as natural as a fish swims in the water. His decree was clearly
explained to all and his will carried out by ambitious Citizens. Rahzeez
himself knew he could trust Gedunthos, as he saw from much experience
that Gedunthos's intentions and goals held the Empire as a whole above
himself. This was something the previous Emperor lacked, and all of the
Empire noticed.
Rahzeez could speak what he thought exactly as he thought it in the new
Emperor's presence, something he could not do with the Merf. Rahzeez
told the Emperor of his hatred of lies as he saw them a sign of weakness
but that he see's the need for them in politics. He told Gedunthos how
he could speak the full truth with him and how he could not with Merf.
He promised Gedunthos he would always speak his mind to the Emperor,
always telling him the entire truth. He had hoped that telling the
Emperor of his trouble with lies, that he would give him some tutilage
in political affairs. Although he gave no lessens, Gedunthos promised
Rahzeez one thing. Before becoming Emperor, Gedunthos had never told
the complete truth with anyone, the trait of a skilled Imperial Spy.
Now that he held the throne, his need of espionage was no more, and
now his role was more that of a leader to a large kingdom. He could
now speak full truth to his Citizens, and promised Rahzeez he would
return the favor of no more lies and deceipt when discussing political
affairs with him.
Though Gedunthos told Rahzeez he was a strong Blade and reminded him of
overcoming an unwarranted marking of anathema, he gave no political
insight. He was in his elder years, and Rahzeez saw it foolish to use
up the Emperors remaining years to tutor a dim-witted Blade, and so he
looked elsewhere for guidance. There were aspects of men and women
that one must understand in order to hold sway over others and be a
leader of any sort. This wisdom was somewhat lost to Rahzeez, for he
knew battle, war, strategy in the field. Charm, tact, poise, all things
that were lost to Rahzeez, but he at least was intelligent enough to
realize it. He knew only one place to look for wisdom, he must seek
out the Immortal Lords of Empire. He continued to return to the great
Lord Enlilth's place of worship, and thought it prudent to find the
newly risen Lord Destuvius's place of worship as well.
