Description
Though standing only five feet in height, this felar has a prescence
that far outshines his stature. His deep eyes shine like stars,
twinkling as he surveys all before him. In them you see no wildness,
no savagery, but a thoughtful intelligence that greatly contrasts
the sharp fangs and claws that he bears naturally. At his side is
a spear, thin, but at least one and half times his own height. In a
sheath on a band across his chest is a small dagger with a well-worn
handle. His wiry frame moves easily, despite his armor, and
he seems as if should he need to use them, his weapons will be
ready.

Father by choice

Ramant Holdsclaw was a vagabond, and a true rogue with no real responsibility
or aim. His youth was spent skulking around Blackclaw village, getting into
At seventeen, his world was thrown upside down. He saw a group of felar
gathering at path to the village, and in joining them, saw the refugees coming
into the village from the south. The Imperials, working with the frost giants
had forced them from the mountains to the south. Many of them were starved,
their spirits and bodies broken, as they staggered into Blackclaw.
One fela in particular caught his eye, as she limped into the village,
dragging a makeshift travois with her litter of five kits aboard. One of
them, the smallest, was close to death from an open wound, where flies
buzzed around it as festered. In the refugee tents that night, Ramant
held the little kitten's hand as he passed on. At that moment, in him
was awakened a deep anger at those that had caused the death of this
small one.
In that one night, Ramant grew years. He adopted the rest of the kittens
and ensured their mother he would help her when he could. And he began training
so that he could repay tenfold the pain caused upon them.
The Tribunal give Ramant a Badge of Courage
Added Tue May 11 10:55:23 2010 at level 37:
Ramant had grown, both in strength, and in skill since he'd left Blackclaw,
and he learned to fight, ever pushing back against those with wicked traits.
He had early on saved a woman held by demons, and recieved a great boon, a
ring which let him see into the souls of Therans. Using it, he could quickly
tell at a glance who his true enemies were. It was with that, that he first
struck at the necromancer who guarded the city of Seantryn Modan. The guards
were soon called, and their battle pushed both Ramant, and the necromancer
off of the wall to the spiked moat below. Though he was broken, Ramant was
satisfied: The necromancer would think again before offering him tea from
the bones of Arturi children, and would cower in fear in his city rather than
venture out to collect it.
Too many in the law were this way, hiding away behind badges and things.
Later, the great bull Guktah drew Ramant's spear, and again he was branded a
criminal. Ramant wore the title with pride. The law, was a shield that
darkness could not hide behind.
Defeat, Lessons, and Realization
Added Tue May 11 10:55:51 2010 at level 37:
Later, he came to the gates of the Fortress to battle one of the sneering
Imperials from the shadows. Overconfident in his newfound skill, Ramant was
badly beaten, wrist and shoulder broken, while the dark arial swooped down
upon him. He narrowly escaped the encounter, and took it as a lesson.
He later returned to the high pass where the fortress was, and spoke with
some from inside on the way of the Squire of the fortress. Ramant pledged
his service to them: he thought that service to the fortress would temper his
rage, preventing him from crossing too far over into Blood rage against those
of a dark nature. In his mind, he could see his kits disapproving of some of
his more recent acts, which in hindsight seemed bloodthirsty. His pledge was
that he would remain focused, and ensure that justice was his goal, and not
bloody revenge.
Protecting the Weak Leads to the Snowy Path
Added Tue May 11 10:57:23 2010 at level 37:
Searching for the dark duergar Kizzak, sorcerer of the Empire, brought Ramant
to the vale of the elves, where he found three adventurers striking out
against the fair ones there. Ramant was dismayed, because these misguided
folk battled such innocents as simple guildmasters. Remembering his pledge,
he called out to the giant to stop this misguided butchery and leave the
vale.
Instead, a feral badger sprang at Ramant, both claws extended. Gripping his
spear, and feeling the inner fire, Ramant skewered the beast, which turned to
be a lowly gnome. Though he sensed no inner evil in the small one after the
broken body was at his paws, Ramant was still pleased: In this way, he had
not let more elves fall, and had also not been taken away by battle frenzy.
Word of this must have spread, because Drohaem, Marshal of the Fortress called
on Ramant to kneel before him, take the oath, and become a lowly squire.
On deafeat
Added Wed Jun 16 21:30:14 2010 at level 45:
Long had Ramant fought, and while valiantly, his efforts were often futile, and
he would more often than not find his body crushed, and bleeding, tended after
by a healer. These defeats did little to dampen his spirits, and he was soon
chosen to be a Maran by one of the unnamed masters of the fields of Elysium.
When he told his kits, they were overjoyed, and playfully tackled their adopted
father in Blackclaw. That day, as he watched them when they slept, he felt
new responsibility weigh on his shoulders. Now, he was truly not just fighting
for them, or for him, but for something greater.
No defeat could take that away from him.
