Description
The first thing you notice about this elfin figure is the fierce green gaze
of his right eye. Then you see the leather patch with a painted golden eye
on the left side of his face with a bright scar extending above
and below the patch. His long brown hair is gathered in simple
pony tail and contrasts sharply with his ivory skin.
Despite the fierce gaze and scary looking patch, you notice a quick
mischievous smile filled with straight white teeth.
A slight bend to his longish nose seems to be the result of a brawl.
And while he seems to have the air of a holy man, you notice
his hands are well calloused and his boots are worn and dusty.
This would not seem to be a priest who spends his life in a simple church.
Role
The Awakening.

Renner had been wandering the strange swamp for what seemed like ages.
He stopped and leaned against the trunk of an extraordinarily large tree
that butressed out to support the mass of limbs and leaves above his head.
The moisture in the air and the buzz of mosquitoes were both thick enough
to carve into slices with enough meat on them to feed a large army.
He had come here searching for wisdom in the form of understanding of a
new vision that had the grand druid Jeldowan in it.
Renner had been meditating and chanting to try and understand his prayers
more fully when the vision overtook his conscious eye. The center of the
vision was a large rocky mountain that rose from the center of a dark,
gloomy marsh that extended for leagues in all directions. On a small knob
off the side of the mount stood the grand druid and another younger wood-elf
that Renner could not identify. Both stood facing a large cave opening near
the top of the mountain and were praying and chanting an ancient prayer.
Renner had the impression that this was a prayer of awakening though it
wasn't familiar to him in any of his studies. After a time there was a
disturbance at the entrance of the cave as a small rock fell and was quickly
followed by several others. Something very large or very heavy was stirring
deep within the mountain. Slowly, a large draconic head emerged, one covered
with golden scales and blinking emerald green eyes. The head turned and looked
at the pair on the knob below and said in a very clear voice, 'Ah, it
must be time now, they have chosen.'
Then it felt as if a deep chuckle filled the very air as the vision dissipated
and Renner found himself again on a rocky shore where he had been all along.
Though now he was hungry, thirsty and the moon sat where the sun had been.
The vision hung in the back of his head like the taste of honey on ripe berries,
lingering sweetness that filled him with portent of more.
The Blessing and the Curse.

For Renner the visions had become both a blessing and a curse.
Some were so intense that he had trouble discerning the present
from the moments in time that showed up in startling detail in
the visions he saw. It wasn't always this way, when he was young
and first started 'seeing', he picked up glimpses of times that
were more like daydreams than the complete immersions that they
become.
There were times when he would look down at his own arm and see a
strange tattoo there, a kind of gaping maw that seemed to laugh at
him and he would have to rub the skin only to find it wasn't there
and had never been. Other times he thought he saw a faint scar left.
When Renner saw himself running with a pack of wolves among ancient
forests that were overseen by very old immortal beings that lived
and breathed pure wildness he felt a sense of exhilaration. At times
he couldn't tell if the Ancients were getting ready to slumber
because the world was right or if they were awakening again to
change the path of civilization back to the wilderness they had left.
Renner did recall (will remember?) when the wise one had told him the
visions were sometimes true and that it was the loss of his left eye that
let the 'wisdom eye' to see across spans of time. The wise one had said
(would say?) that mortals with normal vision have too much crowding
their heads to truly see. Being unable at times to know what was the
'now' and what wasn't was the price to be paid for such a gift, said
the blue imp as he laughed and disappeared in a sulfurous cloud. At
least, that's what Renner thought he had (would?) say.
His young hands reached down and touched the slimy mushroom for the first
time and something made him lick the tip of his fingers. Real understanding
came to him as an old coyote looked up at him and laughed and said,
'Boy, have you done it now!'. Renner looked at the old coyote with two
fiercely green eyes and said 'I know', and then time melted away and he
saw a young human woodsman being accompanied by two very large bears.
The ranger turned and smiled and then both he and the bears vanished into
the woods.
Glimpses of a life.

The spark of lightning cut through the dark gloom of the forest night
showing the scattering of burned stumps and scattered corpses of short
barrel-shaped dwarves. Slim figures cut silently through the thin mud
and then melted into the surrounding jungle.
A group of lovely young nymphs tittered gleefully around a beautiful
little waterfall as they teased an ivory-skinned young male who was
bathing in the pool under the falls. An equally young female elf laughed
uproariously at Renner's embarrassment.
The dark-shrouded mage with a bony skull pointed a long finger at an older
wood-elf and uttered the word 'Die!' as the corpse of the ancestor fell
lifelessly to the forest floor amid burning huts and the scream of orcs.
Renner ran fearlessly toward the slavemaster, yanking the whip from his hand
before he could lash the young woman again. The slaver jerked back in fear
and yelled as the tables had turned. A quick feminine shout caused him to turn
just as the gleaming blade of the axe swiped toward his head.
A soft pad of moss cushioned his fevered head as the most beautiful woman
he'd ever seen leaned over and dabbed at the sweat on his forehead with
piece of soft leather. He thought he head an older voice chuckle and say,
'You'll have a heck of time keeping him from following you around like a
lovesick puppy now Fealrhinae' as the blackness swept over his consciousness.
The army filled the wide gap between the trees with halberds and spears
while the ragged bunch in the trees looked on with both rage and futility.
The druid uttered his final prayers and turned to the hunters and said,
'We make them bleed for what they did to her.' Then he scratched
absentmindely at the plain patch over his left eye, glanced at the moon
and said, 'It is time'.
The leaves trembled quietly on the aspens overhead in the very slight
breeze that barely stirred the waters of the small pond. Renner looked
at his reflection at saw his bright green eyes stare back from an unscarred
face. He wondered what path he would take today and what new things he would
learn. Maybe he would finally find the wise one who could tell him about
the visions. Maybe the wisdom would find him.
