Description

You find yourself looking upon a light framed, pale skinned creature. This drow looks different from any of his kind you have crossed before, with his skin highlighting the dark color of his dull, hateful looking eyes. He stands slightly taller than a human would, with a much thinner but still muscular looking frame. He holds himself with a commanding presence to him, with a strong natural posture.Slender looking ears come to a curved point, pierced several times over with ornate pieces of twisted iron jewelry. Silky looking strands of straight white hair is pulled back from his face and tied into various intricate war braids. Under his assortment of battle worn armor you can discern he wears the black ceremonial robes of a priest. He seems calm and confident as he watches his surroundings with a constant look of displeasure and judgment, each sharp glance as dismissive as the next.

-The Outcast Devil-

(This is a custom empowerment attempt.)

The outcast devil was once a powerful force in the hells. An ancient devil of
immense power, he once roamed the icy pits of Cocytus as a favored servant of
the prince of darkness himself. Desiring more powers over their individual
realms in the circles above, the Arch-devils of the other eight circles
banded together and combined their powers to break free of the influence of
the lord of hell. A war broke out, but the power of the Arch-devils was too
much for the devils loyal to the Prince of darkness to overcome. His servants
were almost all destroyed, with only the pit fiends and Asmodeus left to keep
the other Arch-devils from entering Cocytus to challenge the Prince himself.
And so they reign in the upper eight circles of hell, each free to govern and
rule their respective circles as they see fit. Too ancient and infused with
infernal power to fully destroy, the outcast devil was banished from the
hells and cast out of the inferno. Outside of hell, his power is a flickering
candle to what it once was, and he can never enter again return to his
infernal home. He stripped himself of his name, known only on the surface as
"The Outcast" to the few that he has ever revealed himself to. Making his
home in the dark woods near the gates of hell, he searches to empower a
promising vessel to one day rise in power and grow strong enough exact his
revenge against the treacherous Arch-Devils that cast him from his infernal
home.

Character Outline

Added Fri Oct 16 23:51:20 2015 at level 1:
Revax was born in drow city and grew up there training in the temple of Lloth
to become a priest of the spider.

He grew up to be condescending, arrogant and snide like many of his kind do,
but his ambition was larger than the realm of the underdark.

He began to voice his discontent among his people, urging them to think
greater than the underdark and rise up behind him in pursuit of greatness and
destiny. He led a revolution against the women of the first house and the
temple of the spider, but was defeated.

Revax was banished from the underdark forever and shunned by his people.
Feeling betrayed, he took refuge in the rebel drow house of spider worshipers
elsewhere in the underdark. Weighing his future options, he read their
ancient texts looking for answers.

Searching for a source of power to crush the first house and conquer his
former home, he came across a cryptic scroll describing an ancient evil
within the dark woods on this surface of Thera. The promise of such a dark
power draws his interest and attention.

He leaves the underdark for the surface of Thera, finding the structure and
resources he needs within the confines of the Empire. Through the imperial
army, he plans to climb the ranks and amass a following worthy of his goals.

He is determined to find the strength to rise up and gain influence. He will
do anything necessary to become powerful enough to exact his revenge on the
first house and the temple of Lloth.

An outcast seeks an outcast

Added Fri Oct 16 23:58:05 2015 at level 1:
Revax pulled the hood of his robes a bit tighter as the brisk winds snapped
and whistled in the darkness of the night. The temperature on the surface had
nothing on the bone chilling cold of the underdark caverns. That was no
longer his home though, there was nothing left for him below the surface. He
was meant for greater things, meant for a bigger fate. Those meant for
greatness were destined to stand high over the ordinary man. He exited the
raft he was on, and began the steady climb up the cliffs towards the forests
edge. He was unsure what awaited him within the enclosure of that infernal
place, he could not know what fate awaited him beyond the trees. This was the
only way though, desperation had left him with no other choice. The power he
needed was unlikely to be found any other place. Revax knew he would not
succeed in climbing in power within the Divine Sect without a source of power
far greater than he had ever known, the risks he was about to take were worth
the chance of success in his eyes. He was willing to do anything to rise up
again from the depths of defeat and seize his destiny. As he approached the
woods, an eerie chill ran up his spine. It was blacker beyond the tree line
than even the deepest caverns of the underdark, seeming to almost vacuum the
light from the moon into its void like center. Revax pulled back his hood and
cleared his throat before stepping forth into the dark woods. Either way, his
fate would soon be sealed.

Deity/Religion outline 2 (Bullet point summary)

Added Sun Oct 18 16:48:45 2015 at level 16:
The Outcast devil once reigned in the hells, but was cast out and banished
from the inferno by the eight Arch-Devils. He stripped himself of his former
name and goes only by The Outcast now.

He retains some of his infernal power, and makes his home in the dark woods
near the gates of hell, the closest he can get to his former place of power.

He would likely govern over the spheres of Strength, Anger and Time/Fate.

Anywhere in the dark wood would be a proper place of worship for him, but
having retained some of the powers of the hells, he can visit mortals of
Thera in their dreams as well.

He seeks to Empower mortals who can eventually grow strong enough to take his
revenge for him, and destroy the other Arch-Devils of the hell. He looks for
followers that would be on their way to that position through goals of their
own. Rising in power and influence is respected by him, failure is not.

He does not grant his power lightly, and will only do so to one who swears to
exact his revenge for him when the day comes they are capable.

The search continues, to become worthy

Added Mon Oct 19 05:20:54 2015 at level 20:
Revax had searched the dark woods for the ancient being from the texts, but
it had yet to make itself known to him. He knew it was there, watching his
every move, piercing him with its dark, unholy gaze. Perhaps he was being
watched for a reason. Revax had ascended within the imperial army into the
divine sect. The Emperor was intrigued by him, the inquisitor had shown him
favor as well. He knew however that his own talents were limited, and that he
must infuse himself with the source he had been seeking lest his limits be
known to the army. His focus would need to be sharper than ever. Perhaps what
the Outcast was waiting for was a true show of strength. Gaining influence
was one thing, and he excelled at the games politics presented. Blood
sacrifice was a different kind of strength, and perhaps through proving he
was as deadly as he was cunning, he would gain the blessing and power he
sought. It was time to rise up, and start to carve his name into the fearful
minds of his foes with blood and death. It was time to impress more than just
the Emperor and Prelate, it was time to show the world his worth.

The spy of the First House

Added Sat Oct 31 03:09:43 2015 at level 42:
The guard hurried through the streets of Teth Azeleth, moving hastily towards
the first house. He entered silently and stood at the door, not daring to
enter. Matron Mother, the report from our spies within the Empire has
arrived! The matron mother sneered at the guard then nodded and held out
her hand. You are dismissed whelp, leave my chambers immediately.
Turning the missive over in her hand slowly, she broke the spider seal in the
back and opened it to reveal its contents.

Mother of the first house,

I write to you with disturbing news from the surface. The radical Revax, he
has survived his banishment and made his way to the surface. It is rumored he
has discovered a source of power so dangerous and ancient none will dare
speak its name. He is gaining influence here within the Empire, the army
stands behind him. It is whispered there will be a coronation ceremony soon
by the Emperor himself to raise him to the position of High Priest. He
commands power over the earth of Thera itself, and his hate for our house has
not been forgotten. He remains a danger, the last assassin I sent after him
never returned.

Do not underestimate his power, he seeks revenge...
Your eyes in the Empire

The matron mother screamed an angry cry that could be heard echoing
throughout the drow city and into the underdark. Disgusted, she crumpled the
letter and threw it down on the ground. Guards! Send for our finest
assassins! A thousand gold coins for the head of Revax!

The Art of Ascension

Added Sat Oct 31 03:12:17 2015 at level 42:
Power...respect...revere...Revax had come a long way since his banishment so
many years ago. There was no room for comfort, however. The outcast had
waited ages for his revenge, and Revax knew he would not wait a moment longer
than was necessary. The outcast demanded army, and he demanded it quickly.
Revax knew better than to present him with an unworthy force. It was likely
soon he would be the High priest. The emperor had granted him his support in
his dealings, but for now, Revax knew better than to use his influence to for
his own selfish needs. His focus needed to be completely on building up the
army, and preparing it for war. Battles would be waged, sieges would be
campaigned...but the enemies Revax was soon to challenge would threaten to
devour their very souls if victory was not won. Very soon he would see what
the imperial army was truly made of.

Character summary update

Added Sat Oct 31 04:45:33 2015 at level 42:
Revax has done everything and everything needed to climb the ranks of the
Empire.

He continues to act passive and submissive to gain the favor of the Emperor
so he can put himself at the head of his sect.

He has no plans to unseat someone as powerful as Gaspare, but it is the
utmost importance to him to have as much influence with him as possible.
Should the seat become empty, he would stop at nothing to sit in it himself
but for now he is content with the present situation.

He still hates and distrusts almost any drow he meets, and yearns for revenge
over the first house.

He is intoxicated by the power given to him by the outcast, and the outcasts
wrath is one of his true fears. His highest priority is keeping the outcast
satisfied to avoid his wrath.

While working on raising the proper army, he has began his planning for his
march into the hells. He has earned the Emperors backing for his work for the
outcast.

He is constantly searching for ancient and forgotten sources of power,
anything that can give him an edge against his foes or bring him more favor
with the emperor. He knows to bring the great Arch Devils down for the
outcast, he will need to tap into powers that most mortals are incapable of.

He works hard to uphold an image within the empire of power, strength and
greatness. He is always working to fortify that image to keep the Empire
desiring his favor.

He is constantly reaching out, working to make new connections, building his
network and gathering influence. He weaves intricate webs of strings wherever
he goes, knowing that spreading his influence will plant the seeds of power
in the future to come.

Coronation of the High Priest

Added Fri Nov 6 05:56:52 2015 at level 47:
A small spider scampered about the ceiling of the imperial throne room. Quiet
save for the council guarding the throne, the large room echoed every small
sound that was made. The spider could sense everything, minding itself as it
spun its web high above the throne. A dark figure entered the room, shrouded
by dark power itself and ghostly in figure. The lich sat down on the throne
in a commanding posture. Raising one hand and beckoning, the spider watched
as a drow man in dark robes entered the room next, followed by a couple dozen
imperial soldiers and citizens. The drow went before the thrones needing
before the lich and bowing his head. The lich gazed him over a moment, then
rose from the throne placing his hand on the drows shoulder a moment before
returning to his throne. The drow rose and bowed to the lich, and turned to
face the rest of the throne room. Gazing them over, he raised both his fists
before them and the entire room bowed to him. The spider made its way down a
single strand of web, slowly descending to land on the shoulder of the drow.
Instantly, the drow reacted with lightning quick slap, and the spider was
smashed to bits on his shoulder the moment it touched him. As the room full
of citizens watched the new High Priest, he uttered a single phrase. "All
spiders must burn."

The fall of Minos

Added Fri Nov 6 06:01:31 2015 at level 47:
Revax raised his blade over the the bloody and broken Arch-Devils head that
was kneeling before him in defeat. Defiantly, Minos spoke out weakly
"Impossible. You are but a mortal!" Revax cackled loudly as the powerful
being writhed before him on his knees. "I am the wrath of the Outcast,
Minos. His vengeance has begun, the Prince shall rise again." With that,
Revax swiftly brought his blade down on the Arch-Devils neck, decapitating
him. Picking up the severed head, a feeling of satisfaction washed over him.
It had begun.

Character Update-The coming of Erzaneth

Added Sat Jan 2 01:45:03 2016 at level 51:
With Baalzebub defeated, the Outcast took back up his old name and revealed
himself to be Erzaneth, Terror of the Malebolge.

Erzaneth was pleased with Revax for bringing him the head of Baalzebub and
restoring the power stolen from him, so he granted Revax a taste of that
power in return.

Revax begins to shift his attention to the Empire and political power again,
having conquered his enemies in his old home in the underdark as well as the
enemy of his lord. He studies culture and habit in an attempt to refine his
political game.

Revax is a very unique priest to be in the position of High Priest. He does
not hold a traditional priests views, because he does not bend a knee before
any god. He bargains for power with a very unpredictable and dangerous force,
and because of that he sees himself as superior to the priests around him.
Where other priests might be seen bending a knee, begging or bowing for a
taste of power, his is acquired from sheer will and iron balls dealing with
an infernal source.

Revax wants everyone to think that he has no desire to sit on the throne,
which is a lie. He wants the Empire for his own, he has become accustomed to
the comforts of his seat and lusts for all that would come with the seat at
the head of the table. He is not interested in going head to head with the
Lich however, so he spends his days with his ears open, waiting for a
creative way to dispose of the Emperor and take the throne for himself.

After all these years, the Empire is still just a tool for Revax to use to
achieve his own goals. He has profited and commands respect, but histories
always focus on the king, never his council. Revax wants his own page. The
first step is to begin writing his name on the walls in blood.
