Description

You look upon a scruffy, ginger furred felar. From a sleek, furry form he peers out with two yellow, cat-like eyes. Perhaps it is the curse of his race that his eyes are so inexpressively large and round. His pink nose and ears are the only other things to break the sharp, elongated feline face. A notch taken from one of is his ears big him the classic look of a rabble-happy tom. Though no scars are visible his fur is thin in places, perhaps more due to its lack of care than torn flesh. His armour is bedraggled and mismatched - it has been customised with pieces of cloth to make it fit his lithe form. Ratty pieces of cloth have been tied about his hind-paws, padding them to prevent them scraping the earth. About his arm is a red band of cloth that stands out from the other pieces. It has been kept cleaner than the rest, looking pristine compared to the rest of him. Slung across his chest, is a leather belt. Designed for a humans waist, it hangs loosely from his shoulder and dangles across his body where pockets and sheaths hold a number of bits and tools. Although it makes him appear resourceful, his paws hold his weapon crudely, with little strength. Only his sharp, sliding claws have a clear danger to them. As civilised as he might appear, the animal gleam in his eyes reminds you how close to the wild he might still be. On his bared shoulder, you see a shaven patch of skin. Upon it, an odd expression has been carved and inked into his flesh.

Character summary

Added Mon Mar 28 05:30:23 2005 at level 27:
Rough past:
He was not himself beaten and abused by a slave master, but he has been
raised on such stories. The streets of Blackclaw are fierce and cruel. As far
as he knows, he is the only of his litter to survive. Much of his bad
feelings towards the rich, advantaged and educated people stem from having no
family like he observed in the city. Many abused him because of his smaller
size (though he is average for a felar). This is reflected in his chosen
stance as a 'bully'.

Ritur the Thug:
Instead of shame for his underhanded ways, he is proud that he is able to put
down many people even if he cannot defeat them. His strength lies in his
confidence. Using deceptive attitudes, he likes to remain elusive in his own
strength while demeaning any others. He'll play up the weak, to make his own
victories seem more impressive and play down the strong in the hope he can
avoid conflict or make lost scraps look close.

Magic:
Ritur believes magic is something of a curse. Like a competitor in a boxing
match using a knife, he hates mages for trying to take such mystical power
for themselves. He sees it as stolen strength, an attempt by a mortal to
attain Godhood. Even the most incompetent mage is guilty of trying to steal
the Gods power to enhance their own. It is because of such undeserved power
that Ritur believes the Mages were able to enslave his race and that any who
study it secretly think them the master of everything they see.

Truth and lies:
Ritur lies constantly - it's almost an expected way of life. He likes tricks
and jokes to keep people on their toes. He'll also be playful at times and in
there lies his honesty. Though he has always been a competitive young scamp
he has a warm place in his heart for a brother he can play with. This will be
the only aspect from which he will be trustable. To who this might apply, or
how, will have to grow as he does.

The Pack:
His strong pack instinct leaves him sympathetic to other felar, friend or
foe. Though he was harshest to them during his upbringing, he feels hes
abandoned his past in straying into the world and enjoys fighting with or
against other felar. Whether its out of a genuine pride for his race or
simply that he can prove himself better than them, he's not sure, but the
feeling he has is better around another felar.

The Divine:
Despite his hate of magic, due to the cruelty of the mages, he holds a great
respect for magic in the hands of the Gods. Priests, even peaceful ones, are
something he fears and likes to avoid because of their closeness to such
divine power. The Gods are always to be reverred and he would prefer to
distance himself from any direct involvement.

The Felar lack of Divine understanding.

Added Wed Apr 27 11:58:17 2005 at level 39:
For Ritur, prayers and priests have long been beyond his complete
understanding. As priests use their great connection to the Divine, he
has trouble distancing the actions of the priest and the actions of the
god in his mind. While others might pray up to the heavens, Ritur feels
he'd only be speaking to the Sky. Because of this, he is unnerved at
fighting priests. He also will not directly pray to any immortal. His own
chosen religion is doomed to fail, not because of his lack of divine
connection but because of his lack of understanding when it comes to
religion.

At least, his attempts at Lyristeons religion will fail for now...

Ritur's Lastname.

Added Mon May 2 08:54:45 2005 at level 44:
Yana - Meaning 'moon' in felar, often the 'deceptive' too.
Thrahn - Meaning 'claw'. Used very often in felar society for marking
ones self as 'tough' or 'hard to fight'. Since so many enjoy its meaning
it is a word that has long since lost much meaning in its name, amongst felar.

Ritur and the Village

Added Tue May 24 11:32:49 2005 at level 51:
As he stands now, a dedicated Battlerager, Ritur is actually very happy
with his life on the whole. He cheats, steals and robs other villagers
but knows he will give as much back through the pit, or in battle.

The Educated Villagers.
Secretly, he still has a hate of those who appear snobbish. However,
few of the Village can be considered such. He picks on Rusenlan, Bahal
and even Gerylanst because of this but it is not a serious vendetta.

Young villagers:
Ritur takes applicants very seriously, and will back those he enjoys
with great enthusiasm. He does not, however, help those who seem failures
to his eyes. Those who preach Magic makes a person weak, with poor
explination are the ones that really irritate him. Fighting Magic daily
means you need a more than basic understanding of its nature to survive.

The Gaping Maw and Battleragers:
While still baffled slightly by its meaning, Ritur understands that
poking at people, testing them for response and trying to learn what
act causes what reaction is important. He will try not to over step
boundaries but he is more than willing to try and stretch trust,
brotherhood and friendship if it means learning how to evoke emotions
as and when he needs them. Manipulation is still very key to his life
as he lacks any strength in being direct.

This sort of thinking applies to foes, but tends towards evoking Anger
and Surprise more than any other reaction. Mostly, because he enjoys
them more but also because these seem to be the strongest motivations.
Fear is just fun for him. As is anything he does towards Lawlessness in
general.
