I am still young but my journey so far has been wrought with turmoil.

My father and mother were loving and caring parents. They taught me to live
and survive but more than that they taught me to listen to the very earth and
waters we tread upon. Being rangers of the sea they felt a bond that many do
not, they would tell me of their dreams some times where they would hear a
womans voice calling to them from the wilds. They told me that the voice
would guide all who listened to live free and in harmony with all tied to
her. I loved them so and willed every night to dream of the womans voice..
but she would never call to me. As I grew older my father and mother taught
me techniques of battle, how to defend myself and those that could not defend
themselves. They taught me the skills of the sword and the shield both to
strike true and hard and protect my vulnerable areas. I tried to learn the
techniques of tracking and trapping but they never seemed to be within my
reach. I would weave nets but they would always snap when a fish swam into
them. Yet my parents were never distraught they loved me so much and always
encouraged me to seek out my own path I did not have to walk in their
footsteps but rather make my own. They would speak of destiny and the path we
all choose.. they would tell of how they met and how the womans voice guided
them to each other. I would listen very intently always hoping that I may
hear her voice some time.. every time I would speak of it with my parents
they would just say that I must be patient and that I will hear her when she
feels I need guidance. My parents taught me much of the woman whom many
called the Lady of the Summer Storms. She guides those pure of heart and free
of spirit.

I grew quickly and learned much of the mother my parents called the voice
that guided and provided for all. They taught me the importance to live free
of any bonds and to protect the gifts we are blessed with. The sea we
harvested and hunted within was vast and there would be times we would hunt
as a family for days. Sometimes we would return to our small house and it
would be ransacked by raiders. My parents living only by their means would
simply turn the table upright once again, replace the kelp and seaweed on the
beds and clean up all the strewn pots and pans. They would remind me that
possessions are not important and that raiders or thieves could never take
the truly important things. So long as we lived free the seas will provide.
My parents ensured that I was never without the things that I needed and we
never needed much. My stomach was always full and my heart was always warm
from their love.

I awoke suddenly covered in sweat upon my bed in my home. The sweat dripped
from my brow into my eyes, it stung slightly as I wiped it away and then
began to blink my eyes so they could focus on my surroundings. It was still
dark.. but darker than usual the oceans brilliance seemed to be gone. I sat
up with a jolt as a crackle echoed off the walls of my home. It was feint but
sounded like thunder in the eerie silence that hung as heavy as the darkness
that engulfed the room.I got up and moved towards where my parents normally
lay. The darkness seemed to be thick in the waters making my movement
cumbersome. When I reached my parents bed it looked as though it had never
been laid in. Fear welled up inside me as I realized I was alone. I looked
around my house looking for anything any sign of anything that pierced the
darkness that hung so heavily. A small crack of light shone through the door
but was diffused quickly by the darkness. I moved quickly towards it and
reached for my sword that normally hung beside my bed as I passed it, but it
was gone as well. I continued to move towards the door praying for my
parents to come from behind it and engulf me in their arms. As I moved closer
to the door the light shone brighter from between its cracks. Silently I
moved the door open slightly and peered through the crack as the light shone
from beyond it. Its brilliance blinded me for a moment and I blinked rapidly.

My eyes adjusted and I looked out into my house I just left except it was
brighter. My father rushed about the house looking in every corner as he
grabbed weapons. My mother was beside my bed crying on her knees. I heard her
weeping where has he gone.. did they take his body. My father not really
listening tied on his sheath to his waist and reached for my mother pulling
her from her knees. As she rose to her feet the pool of blood she cried over
came into vision. They ran through the door and out of sight. I ran to follow
them trying to yell but no words escaped my lips. I stumbled slightly and
landed hard on the ground right before the doors sash. I struggled slightly
and picked myself up as quickly as I could. I ran through the door and
stopped suddenly. With a quick glimpse I saw I was in a huge cavern about
five Sahuagin were in the far corner. Two figures moves on the edge of my
sight and I recognized my parents quickly. I tried to run and scream towards
them once more but neither my feet nor voice worked. I could do nothing but
watch.

My parents moved with stealth towards the Sahuagin but they were not
surprised they pounced on my mother and father quickly. All five focused on
my father as they swung their sharp claws towards his abdomen. My fathers
sword flashed and glinted as he struck deeply into their flesh. My mothers
bow notched arrows quickly as they struck deep in the flesh of the beasts. My
father screamed as blood gushed from the wounds all over his body as the
Sahuagin continued to claw at him. His sword arm began to swing slower and
finnaly slumped to his side as he fell to his knees. One of the massive claws
raised up and fell swiftly upon my fathers neck as blood filled the waters
around. My mother screamed in horror and notched another arrow firing it
squarely in the eye of the Sahuagin that tore my fathers throat out. It
crumpled to the ground but the other four were on my mother quickly and she
was soon upon her knees as well as her body bleeding severely began to give
out. Tears blurred my vision as I watched the events unfold. Everything
stopped suddenly and my mother eyes turned towards me. I saw her mouth the
words I love you and with a jolt time moved forward once again and the
Sahuagin tore her throat out and her body crumpled to lay lifeless on the
ground next to my fathers.

I turned from the horrible sight I just witnessed back towards the door I
walked through. It glowed now with a silvery hue and even though the fear
welled inside and sorrow thrust its piercing needled into my heart I moved
back through the doors sash. There beyond the doors my mother and father
stood on either side of a radiant woman whose radiance seemed to blur her
features slightly. My mother rushed to me and wrapped her arms around me and
squeezed. Tears rolled down my neck from both of us as my father encompassed
us both in his embrace. I began to apologize and ask for their forgiveness
but my mother only hushed me the loving way she does and we all held each
other for a time. The radiant woman said it is time and my parents both
released their embrace and each kissed me on my head. My mother said for me
to be brave and that my path had not yet started, she said to follow my heart
and let my instincts guide me. My parents returned to the radiant womans
side. With out a word the radiant woman bade me to lay my head upon my bed
and I gave no hesitation. As I lay down she moved closer and placed her hand
upon my chest. It burned and pain seared within me but dulled quickly as my
eyes closed. The woman spoke softly as the dark came as my eyelids closed
shut... Be strong my child, your life begins anew.. be my voice and use my
strength.

I wake in my own bed hazy and a bit drowsy. I reach down to the pain in my
chest and feel wetness on my fingertips. I am upright instantly and look down
at the blood in a pool around me and on my clothes. I lift my shirt and look
for holes pushing through the blood stained clothes I can find no injuries. I
get to my feet and aches shoot through my bones but last moments and are gone
as I begin to move. I begin to remember all that occurred and tears well in
my eyes. I look about my home waiting for my parents to return but they do
not. After 3 days of waiting my mind accepts what my heart knew since I
awoke. My parents will never return. I gather up some of my clothes and other
things packing them for a long journey. With the next dawn I set out from my
home. Looking down at the path before me I feel a warm rush of sea water warm
me and I feel my parents presence. Feeling them beside me I push out and do
not look back.

I traveled and hunted for many weeks avoiding the cities and the deluded
people within. I was taught to respect all those that walked with holiness
inside them and lived free of any trappings body or mind. One night I pushed
through a thick forest and heard cries from deep within the brush. Moving
quickly with my blade drawn I came to a small clearing with a tiny figure
laying on the grass under the foot of a huge monstrously deformed humanoid
figure. Without a thought I drove my blade deep between its shoulders and it
snapped as the beast turned as it howled in pain. Luckily it continued its
turn and bound out of the clearing and into the woods. My heart pounding I
looked down upon the tiny frail figure of an elf. Carefully looking her over
she seemed to just have been stunned so I aid her to her feet. We walked
over to the cover of the trees and took a moment for the tiny woman to regain
herself. We sat and talked a time and I learned that she was from a city near
by a holy city that embraced the light within each of us. She thanked me
repeatedly fearing that she may have been a next meal for what she called an
Orc. Asking my profession I did not speak of my parents but told her of my
affinity for all of nature about me. She herself being a hopeful trainee of
the paladin guild she spoke much of it. I was engrossed by her descriptions
and tales of paladin and their deeds. We moved off when the sun began to dip
below the horizon to find a safer place to sleep. Finding a suitable place
we made camp together and spent most of the night of her telling me tales of
the paladin guild and the gods of the light. As I learned more that evening I
knew in my heart this would be where my path would lead me.

I woke the next morning renewed and with purpose. I asked of where I could
find a master to whom could teach me of the skills and train me in the ways
of the paladin. She spoke of many cities that held guilds within but the
walls I could not take to bind my spirit within. Asking of one whom walked
free unlike those within the walls of cities she spoke of a man whom is a
master of many arts. She told me the man lies beyond a portal taking you to a
time before the cities grew high and the sun shone brighter. She offered to
take me to see him and with eager apparent within me we cleaned out camp and
began the journey to find the master. It took days for us to make it to the
master nearly in the center of a huge battlefield. Walking up to him he
smiled at me and my life path widened before me.

As I began to learn more of my guild the teachings of the cities and laws
became more and more pressing. The code all paladins adhere though it is
something I have mostly been taught by my parents there are things within
that many interpret skewed in my eyes. The laws most of my guild abide are
laws of men and women. People seeking to subjugate others and gain in power
no matter the cost. I am bound to aid all those that require it from those
tainted body and soul. I have much turmoil inside as the Laws of man bare
upon my soul yet not as heavily as most. I go to seek out the Lady of the
Summer Storm in hopes that she may free my spirit like that of the winter
winds that whip and dance. After days of calling I did send a missive into
the heavens I hope that she will hear its call upon the winds as they dance
but I can feel her with me as I fall every tainted soul to return to nourish
Thar-Eris. It is only a matter of time for I feel my path is destined though
difficult it will bring new adventures and grander days with each new
sunrise.

While I prayed to the Lady of the Summer Storm near a tranquil pond of
crystal clear water a Warthog trampled through the sands of the oasis. Caught
a bit off guard I did hear the warthog speak in my head. It listened as I
spoke of my past and of hopes of my future. We spoke for a long time and it
listened intently and gave advice of the wilds to help guide me on my path.
As our conversations came to a close the warthog lovingly licked the back of
my hand. A surge filled my body as a warmth I had never felt before
encompassed me. I felt the Summer Storms presence fill me and the warthog
bounded off. I have spent much time within the wilds listening to the seasons
pass and watching the rains fall with her presence beside me. I have spoken
with many free souls who mark me enslaved and enslaver.. with each person I
speak with I see an enlightenment with those to realize to be free of spirit
is a choice we all can choose to make.

I have been tested this day of my measure of body and spirit. Going into the
Sahuagin palace where the light does not shine I dropped within a swirling
pool of water and was pulled down in the depths. A huge sea dragon nipped at
my feet as I moved towards the palace but I left it in my wake as I traveled
to my destination. I came upon the king and after a long battle returned his
corpse to nourish the mother. Taking myself away I hear calling from Sahuagin
speaking of my bringing a beast to the village.Thinking the words were
twisted at the source I took little mind to it. Yet no matter my past with
the Sahuagin I could not take solace in knowing that a beast brought in my
wake would seek the meat of any. I made way back under the sea to find the
Sea Dragon eating weaker Sahuagin chomping on their bones. I could not let a
tainted beast bear down upon any by my cause. The dragon bore down on me
angrily mustering forth anything it could to fall me. By the Ladys grace I
was the victor and returned its corpse to be nutrients for the mother. The
Commander of the Sahuagin stepped from the shadows he hide within snarling
angrily at me bringing the beast down upon them. I gave no measure to
knowingly doing so but it was my actions that brought it down into the
depths. I spoke to the Commander for some time and he did mark me as an
ambassador to the Sahuagin. My actions bring consequences yet my returning to
correct it I do have hopes that those of the Sahuagin younglings may see this
and choose to live free of the taint that corrupts their minds and vision. In
speaking with the Commander I gave him words to speak to all the Sahuagin
that if they sought out to release themselves from that which befalls their
souls I shall do all I am able to aid in that. After marking me he gave me
hopes that mayhaps the light does stir in those depths and seek to relinquish
the taint that corrupts the Sahuagin.
My past with the Sahuagin has made this a trying experience yet I have
overcome and know now that my path will have trials but I have the strength
of faith to overcome.

Taking to the wilds I did meet an young arial by the name of Zjenhaveve. His
spirit is strong of the light and feels no bonds to the shackles of the
cities and laws made by men. We spoke for some time as I told him of the
teachings of the Summer Storm and of a free spirit. As we parted I blessed
upon him some of the clothing I had come across in my travels to wear and
strike back the taint where ever it lies. A time after he did call out to me
to learn more of the Lady Padwei and her teachings. It raised my heart
greatly that mayhaps another may find their path lighted by the Sun and free
to turn as it may.

I write this after a long conversation with Auldr. I had met this one when he
was young in the Forest of the Past. He was spry and full of life he sought
to live free and find his path within the Refuge as he grew older. We spoke
some and as I do with many show them a path, a path of choices.. ones that
they are free to make. Our conversation was held within the temple entrance
of Amaranthe. At first I thought he sought to break my faith by questioning
that which I held close and have lived for so long. We spoke much on the Laws
and my interpretation of them and how that when those who wrote the code made
it to stand for different than what I speak to. He drew circles and called
them triangles and spoke that I do the same and I came to realize that I do.
I see the oath I have taken of my life to be that of the code of that all
Paladins speak to.. but I know this is not true for I am not like other
paladins nor them like me. We spoke of Laws and as I called oppressors and
freedom and choices.. his points were clear yet bare of all but the basics.
There was truth in his words and they ran deep within me. The code is words
based upon intent of those whom wrote it so long ago.. and whos intent do I
live by.. mine where my faith is strong or by that of ones long passed whos
voices all but forgotten to the words etched on a scroll. My faith does not
waiver for I know what I stand for yet how I stand is still to grow.. My
stance I do still see within the tree but with a higher enlightenment. I
still do think that his words were harsh to break me.. but they came with a
purpose to allow me to find a path wider than the one before.. to see clearer
than before and to know more of why I fight to allow all to see we make our
choices.. they are our own and none others..
