Description

Standing before you is a filth covered stalky duergar male. His hair is black as night and covered in dried blood. His skin dark in color with blood splattered all about it. Scars run up his arms and across the back of his hands letting you know he has not had an easy life. He is around five feet six inches in height, somewhat tall for his race. Large biceps protrude from his armor as he clenches his weapons with a might never before seen. Yellow snaggled teeth show as he grins wickedly in your direction, and you feel you may be in for a fight. Dark red eyes show a gleaming fire burning inside his soul that is ready to be unleashed.

Role

The escape from Arin-Grid

Rupen was born into captivity inside the city of Arin-Grid. Dealt a life of punishment
from birth, he was held captive by a foul transmuter in the city. This arcane would
spend hours busting the flesh of Rupen and bones and organs alike. Then repair them
somewhat to insure he would live for further experiments. Years passed of Rupen
shackled in the dungeon of the city day in day out of endless cruelty at the hands of
this foul mage. As the mage tested spells on Rupen this day his bones
in his arm broken and splintered through the skin, as fragments of his own bones lay
on the floor before him he slipped a few of them into his tattered clothing.
Later that night while the mage slept Rupen pulled out the splinters of bone and begin
going to work on his shackles. After an hour or so of fiddling with the locks he managed to
pick his shackles and free himself. He slipped into the bed chamber of the mage and grabbed
a sword from the weapon rack in the corner. As he placed the cold steel blade against the
neck of the mage, his eyes opened to see Rupen grinning from ear to ear. Fear gripped
the mage and with a quick slice his head roled from the bed onto the floor. Rupen knew
he would be slaughtered for killing the king's head mage and had to escape this dirt hole city.
He grabbed another sword and threw on some armor and covered it with one of the mages cloaks.
He made his way to a mine shaft on the north end of the city when he was spotted by the
king's elite guards. He jumped down the mineshaft and fled into the underdark, the guards quickly
followed. In such darkness Rupen was able to slip up behind the guards getting the drop on them,
as they fell to the ground dead Rupen flung off the mage's cloak and banged his blades together.
Days passes as he wondered endlessly through the underdark looking for a way to the surface.
Finally he found a small ramp leading up to a cave entrance exiting the underdark, he found himself
at the head of a large river and began his adventure on the surface of Thera.

Magi must die!

Some time had passed with Rupen living on the surface of Thera. Surrounded by
filthy magi and magic alike he made every effort to destroy it all. He came
across the Battle Ragers who fought for the same goal as himself, to destroy
all magi and magic alike. He met many of them and spoke with several of them in
depth about his struggle to destroy magi. He learned of their ways and discovered
they lived as he did. He made every effort to join the villagers in their fight,
he spoke with the Commander of Battle Knacnar about building a hut within the village.
Knacnar ask that he slay more magi to prove his worth to the village, so Rupen
began to slaughter every mage he could get his hands on, as he always had. After
slaying many magi he knew all he must do is speak with the Commander and he would
help him build a hut within the village. Until that time come Rupen continued
living as he always had, as a berserker.

Blood flows

Several mage corpses later, and much splattered blood across Rupen's armor
led Rupen to a meeting with Malahki, the Reaper of the Arcane. Malahki
had noticed Rupen's devotion to the slaughtering of magi in Thera,
and had seen the lack of the Commander during the times he had seen Rupen.
Malahki called Rupen to the temple of the gods so he could get a better
understanding of this young duergar and find out why he seeks
the destruction of magic. After several stories and an in depth
talk between the two Malahki agreed to help Rupen build a hut
within the village to call his own. A proud day for Rupen this was,
not only had he proven himself to the villagers he called his kin, but
he had proven himself to one of the Gods of battle that he was
worthy to fight on the front lines of this war. Rupen's battles
with the enemy often left him covered in blood, some his but most theirs.
He had slain many mages over the years and with each one slain another
seemed to arise in its place. This did not discourage Rupen in any way,
in fact it gave him more determination and drive to slaughter more.
And so he did as the years past, let the blood flow. Flow from
the mountains down into the rivers. Turn the ground red as the mages
hit dead. Cover his armor with the blood of the magi, let the blood
flow from the nights sky.

The never ending war

Many many years had passed with Rupen fighting battle after battle.
Against all odds Rupen nearly always walked away victorious. He was task
by Lord Thror with the job of slaying the orcs of the grinning skull tribe.
And Rupen did this and did it well, after the chieftain lay dead at
Rupen's feet several times lord Thror deemed Rupen the Butcher of the Grinning
Skull Tribe. Rupen took this title with pride for it was handed to him by
the legendary Thror himself. Rupen continued this war day in and day out
realizing it was never ending. Many mages had been slain yet more where born
every day. Rupen knew he would be battling till his final breath, but
this was fine with him. For it was his purpose, it was what he was born to do.
