Description

Unusually well-kept for his kind, this dwarf's beard is neatly cropped close to his face and has the same ginger-brown coloring of the rest of his hair. His worn clothing has been carefully patched and mended and his dented armor gleams slightly in the light, obviously polished often and well cared for. Though his attire denotes self-concern, his stance says something different entirely; he can often be found wandering this way and that, unworried about himself, his deep brown eyes desperately seeking out something unknown in the world around him. Occasionally his palms stray towards the unusual worn books carried on his belt beside a short handled axe. Another two axes are carried by him, as well as a sword and hammer. You wonder how he has the coordination for such an arsenal. Looking closer, you notice that

Role

Welcome to the head of Ruren!

Added Wed Jul 13 20:28:07 2005 at level 1:
A chuckling dwarf looks up from his book, seemingly cozy in front of a well
used fireplace.'Welcome to my head,' he says to you as a mischievous
twinkling fills his eyes. 'If you've come this far, you're obviously
interested in my life, beliefs, and other various tidbits of information.'
Closing his book and simultaneously tapping himself on the chin with a
finger, he seems to be eyeing you closely. 'Alright then, it all started
normal enough for a dwarf, I was a chubby lad, and grew up in a mountain
range rich with silver veins near the top, coveted mithril veins towards the
lower halls. My clan's name was StoneWeaver, as we were known for the fine
suits of battlemail and chain we produced and sold directly to merchants of
Hamsah Mu'Tazz. As with all things growing in power and wealth, we began to
attract the attention of others. Some of the attention was good, other
attentions were quite bad.' Sighing softly to himself and getting a distant
look in his eyes, he continues on, seemingly oblivious now to your presence.
'I was the one that noticed something wasn't right with our latest buyer. He
seemed human enough, but he set up the hairs on the scruff of my neck. He
convinced my brothers, through the magic of greed I believe now, to take him
to our hall, and show him how we produced our fine wears. If I had known
then what I know now, I'd have fought harder to knock sense into my brethren.
it were, I shouted and cursed at them at the breach of protocol. All I
got was a knock in the gullet and a knot on the head for my actions, and they
invited that scum into our mountain. He had a gleam in his eye and teeth,
and struck me as far too pretty in his offers to make us the richest clan
this side of the Tahril. I screamed and bellowed my rage to my kin, and was
ignored. The human cast worried glances at my fuming episodes and asked my
eldest brother and I to show him our forge. Through some wicked act of
magic, and the greatest treachery I've encountered thus far, he enchanted my
senses and drove me into a frenzy of which I've never achieved again,
dropping his faade and human disguise, he revealed himself to be a
chittering bug eyed creature of some sorts, possibly once human but only
vaguely resembling one.Immediately my hands dropped to my hatchet and
hammer looped in my belt and I set upon him, only to have my eldest still
spellbound brother jump in front of him to protect the grossly mutated thing
that was his path to fine earnings.' Looking down at the ground sadly, then
back at you with a tear or two in his eyes he continues. 'I dont know what
came over me next, through some act of magic or some unknown dark power, I
lost control and thought I was killing the disgusting creature that had so
enchanted my clan. Unfortunately when I came too after something knocked me
out, I was surrounded by glaring kinsmen and realized I had been bound hand
and foot. They told me what I had done had no excuse, that the rage within
me was not of clan StoneWeaver.Evidently I had set upon my brother so
harshly that he was blinded in one eye and might not live to see another day,
they wouldn't hear my talk of demons or chittering insect creatures and
claimed I just wanted to cause trouble and grief for the clan. I was put out
in rags and stripp

Adventures and Awakenings

Added Wed Jul 13 20:35:47 2005 at level 1:
Ale, grog, mead. Ruren's favorite companions for the next few months of his
life. With the promise of all the ale he could drink as payment from a
seemingly decent caravan master, and a half rusted axe as defense also given
by the Caravan master, he set his shifty feet on the path to the unknown.
The unknown path of the dazed dwarf ended up unceremoniously dumping him in
the vale of Arendyl, after a screaming Caravan master learned that all the
ale had disappeared in less then three weeks, some of which were expensive
spirits he planned to get a large sum for in Udgaard. Ruren brushed himself
off in the next few weeks, and took kindly to the strange elven people of
Darsylon. He was adopted by a very young elven child and brought into a home
during the beginning of his stay where he was forced to sober up and explain
exactly how he ended up there. Ruren came to like the fae people of the city
and was allowed residence in the palace of Darsylon, where he worked as an
honorary proud guardsmen briefly while he thought out what to do with his
life. Still young and impressionable himself, he adapted a greater
understanding of speech, and lost some of his dwarven accent in exchange for
the more common tongue of humans and elves. He learned to enjoy books, and
read many things about Paladins and warriors of the light, what they fought
for, and their many achievements. After hearing of the great evil on Mount
Calandaryl, he kept a watchful eye on the place. He saw many heroic looking
people pass through the city on the way there, and decided to become a
warrior of the light himself. Ruren learned, after careful reflection of
himself and his past as well as those warriors he spoke with, that before he
could have a peaceful life for himself and those he loved, all forms of evil
must be eliminated. He fights now, inspired to overcome the evil that
plagued his past and prevent it from harming others. He went from a greedy
clan and murderous confusion and rage, to losing himself in a bottle, to
finding himself in the light of goodness of the Elven people. He now seeks
training to be a dedicated warrior of the light, in search of himself and his
destiny as well as the destruction of evil.

And now...

Ruren upholds his duties as a full fledged Maran. He remains dedicated to the war, and gives all of himself to his brothers and sisters in the light.
He has met many people along the way, made many enemies of the wicked, and overall has achieved that which he has sought to become, a Holy Warrior of the Light. He has battled the skeletons of the mount, and hopes to have inspired those who are
able to take up arms for the light. He continues to strive to be the best that he can, hoping to prove worthy of a follower of Aarn.
