Description
Saucer sized orbs of pure darkness stare out from beneath gray and white
feathers that almost resemble horns above a short hooked beak of amber.
Large wings spread from this creatures back giving her an almost angelic look
at a glance. you suddenly notice her left arm, unlike the rest of her body,
is not covered in the same alabaster and grey feathers.Instead her bare
flesh shows and it has turned as black as coal from finger tip to just below
her elbow. Jagged unhealed wounds cross the limb and its motions are jerky
and stale compared to her other hand. The stench of rot oozing from it is
nearly overpowering. Hung from her waste is a peculiar shard of what appears
to be ice. Staring at the piece you think you occasionally see a black
skinned face and hear muted screams echoing in the distance. Etched across
the surface of the artifact is simply the inscription 'Grint'.
Role
The Offering

It all happened so fast. Two days ago I was simply preparing for the harvest
festival and now... now I am in the legendary academy preparing for my first
lessons. The snake collar entwined about my neck chaffes and continues to
bleed but Fahnol assured me that will pass with time.
Yesterday began the same as every festival day had for the last 18 years of
my life. Up early to help father butcher the goats and cattle for the feast.
when chores were done and the meat delivered to the inn to be prepared
for the feast I joined the other younglings in gawking at the jugglers and
performers that had come for the festival. Then came the selections, each
year the collector visits each village in the valley and select ten adults
which are given the honor of serving the king. This was my first year, I was
nervous but rarely do they even select the youngest of the village,
especially only a butchers daughter.
The collector the last six years or so had been a surly one eyed duergar
wearing unadorned green and red robes. He carries a rod about as tall as
himself that is crowned by a obsidian hand holding a glass orb resemblnig a
dismembered eye. He walked slowly down the line of offerings, pausing now
and then to poke and prod and occasionally reciting an incantation and waving
his rod. At first he walked past me with barely a nod but paused a few
people down and cocked his head as if listening to some unheard voice. He
returned to me and eyes me up before chanting his incantation and waving his
rod over my head. There was no change to his demeanor, just a grunt and a
mumbled curse and he continued examing the other offerings.
When my name was read as one to be offered my heart nearly stopped. From
then time became a whirlwind. My friends congratulated me, my mother wept,
and I was given a place of honor with the other offerings at the head of the
feast. When dinner was over I was brought to the collectors tent. The
duergar explained to me that his name was Fahnol and that there was something
special about me. He pulled a serpent from his sleeve and as it coiled about
my neck it sunk its fangs into my juggular, I tried to claw the creature from
my neck only to realize it had turned to stone.Fahnol explained that the
collar was to allow him to keep track of me and that I would be going to the
academy to learn magic. He also explained that if I failed to make suitable
progression when he came to check up on me that I would be sent to the mines
along with my family.
And so I set out to make the best of this situation I find myself in.
Formative Years

Day of the Bull, 23rd of the month of the Winder Wolf
Success! After many days of learning to focus on my chi I have finally
managed to draw on the mystical forces causing my focus item, a small stone,
to be covered in frost. At first I was excited, I had heard of Masters of
Invocation and the though of being a master of the elements was very
appealing. Lo my horror when the instructor examined by focus object and
declared instead that I had touched on the negative plane and not that of
ice. Death magic! How horrid, I do not know if I have the resolve for such
terrible forces.
Day of Freedom, 5th of the month of Nature
I have completed my studies at the academy and am glad to once again be free
of the musty catacombs in which they trained me. I have managed to put a
little coin in my pocket by joining various trade caravans and learn a bit of
the land outside my valley. Everywhere I go I am met with scorn by most
strangers. Many have even tried to kill me, not to steal my coin but simply
because of my tie to the negative plane. This is so different then my home,
so much hate and intolerance. I never asked for this power, it has been
nothing but a curse.
Day of Thunder, 14th of the month of the Ancient Darkness
The collector visited me for the first time since delivering me to the
academy. He wished to see what I had learned and called forth a young human
child. He wanted me to display my magics on the innocent orphan and of
course I refused at first. With a wave of his rod it felt like a thousand
snakes were biting every inch of my body, ohh the pain.My resolve only
lasted a few minutes, minutes that felt like hours, before I did as commanded
and hexed the boy. When the child finally stopped wretching the colelctor
mumbled a prayer to heal his wounds and looked to me and said, "Again".This
went on for several hours. By the end the boy was no longer a boy to me, but
just a slab of meat to infuse my craft to. Have I lost my humanity?
Day of Deception, 20th of the month of the Ancient Darkness
It had been a week since my experience with the... boy.The guilt I had
managed to push down inside had surfaced to the top and wracked me with
anguish. Seeing nothing but more abuse on the horizon I decided that it
would be best to end my life before I would be forced to harm any more
innocents. The poison tasted a bit like almonds and it was painless, like
falling asleep. As my soul began to move on to the next life a force grabbed
it and I found myself back in the temple of Galadon, a hovering ghost. I had
heard of the god touched whose souls were anchored to the prime but I never
imagined that mine would be so claimed.I wonder what god or force has
staked its claim to me now.

The Empire
Rylogax joined the empire initially just as a means of survival. With the
whole world seemingly against her it was a way to gain allies and much needed
protection. As she grew in magic and in rank she developed a taste for power
and wants to see Therans view the Black sect as the ultimate seat of magical
power instead of the scions. During her rise she has made mortal enemies
with Ezgrint, Ejomothi, and now Cabakso (anyone who dared to challenge her
rise through the process of demotion).
She still has plans to reap vengance on Cabakso (by getting him out of the
emperors throne) and Ejomothi (by knocking him down to oath and making him
serve as a slave to the black).Because Ezgrint took his life before she
could have her day with him she tore his soul from the abyss and now keeps
him imprisoned in a shard of magical ice she keeps on her person.
Currently her goal is to raise to dreadlady, raise Jinger(the only divine she
does not hate) to the high priest, and Ferrik to war master to call a vote.
The Collector
This storyline was meant to be a hook for anyone who wants to take it up. I
didn't write the role chapters out but at this point in time the collector is
slain. In the process of slaying him he placed a death curse on Rylogax that
is slowly causing her body to die (hence the dead arm).Rylogax uses her
magic to reanimate the limb and slow the advancement of the curse but she
must undergo the becoming in order to defeat the curse before it consumes her
(con loss). The collector was the henchman of the Yanti (snake man)
archwizard that ruled over her valley. That guy might not be too happy about
losing two of his pawns. The bloodmagic of the oath broke the bond of
control his amulet placed over Rylogax.
Zamieda/Becoming
Currently Rylogax is dealing with Zamieda in hopes of stealing the secrets of
the new transformations he speaks of. In the course of this it is possible
that Rylogax will walk away from the empire (especially if they keep demoting
instead of promoting her) but never will she pledge to the scions as she
doesn't want any more dark forces trying to manipulate her and she sees them
as lapdogs of the Ccul'Gra.

Personality Development
.
Rylogax started off as a simple small town girl that was suddenly uprooted
from her home and thrust out into the world against her will. When she
sought out the aid of those she was raised to turn to (paladins and the like)
and instead of listening to her cries for help they tried to destroy her for
simply being born with a connection to negative magic. As more and more of
the world piled onto her she turned to her womanly wiles to try and convince
men to protect her.
.
As her magic grew so did her confidence and self assertiveness.By the mid
30's she went from being a helpless damsel in distress to seeking out and
relishing the thrills of combat and intrigue of imperial politics. She has
since become self obsessed and consumed by her drive for magical power. She
has lost all sense of humanity as the world more and more just seems filled
with ants that serve no purpose beyond meddling in her affairs.
