Description
The athletic figure before you stands at attention with a stoic and
enlightened gaze. Her body seems frail yet nimble, hidden behind robes of
white and gold satin. Skin the deepest shades of chestnut have a peculiar
glow to it, as if it's absorbing the radiance of the sun. Pristine locks of
ebony dance freely around her waist, as if possessed by the same fervor that
fills Selaras eyes. The truth behind her heritage was apparent by her
drowish features and aristocratic mannerisms. High-cheekbones, a wide button
nose, and prominent ears make up her heart-shaped face.
Age has done Salera well as her presence seems significantly more resolute as
time has passed. She is adorned by battlement armor of pure white that peeks
out behind robes of the finest silk. Cinched to her waist on either hip is a
book and feathered quill that she utilizes to record incantations and poems
alike. Streaks of silver hair now color her once ebony locks, reminders of
the wisdom that colors her actions. The final thing you note about her
appearance is a silver raised marking of a coyote; that glows against her
sun-kissed skin. Upon further notice you note that-
Role
Knowledge is power!

For Salera the stigma of her drowish ancestry is something
she lived with her entire life, prominent drowish features, darkened skin,
and a frail build marked her maternal heritage. Whilst her fierce tenacity,
ability to intermingle with many walks of life, and funny enough her
clumsiness was a solid reminder of her human paternal blood.
Father was a mercenary for hire from Balator and her mother a scholar who
resided in Hamsah; after leaving the Underdark in search of knowledge beyond
what the houses could offer. She taught Salera that knowledge is power and
without it, she would be forgotten amongst the weak masses. This stuck
with Salera but not for the reason her mother would assume; she questioned
why someone with power would not use said power to protect the weak. How
someone with knowledge could not see that that very thirst for knowledge, had
perverted their heart. Her mother was her first example of passion that had
gone too far and become warped. Luckily her father was an individual
whose own path and words taught her much of what she would need to know in
her future. He taught her that true strength is the ability to protect the
weak, protect the innocent, and most importantly protect those that Salera
would come to love. They were planted seeds that she would continue to water
long after his untimely demise.
Grief and the Cycle of Life and Death.
Added Sun May 8 18:02:23 2022 at level 37:
Grief was far from a foreign concept for Salera, who had lost her father and
mother at a young age. Each of them imparting on her different lessons that
made her the woman and mage she was today. During a bandit heist of a local
caravan in Hamsah she was caught in the crossfires of a lethal assault.
Instinctively her parents moved to protect her and it was this day that
Salera came to realize that her mother loved something much more than her
pursuit of knowledge and that was her family. Saleras father had been cut
down by a surprise attack leaving her mother to protect her only child.
Cursing the gods she took one last look at her daughter, with tears swelling
in her eyes and summoned an inferno of black flames to engulf the bandits
along with her. Leaving Salera alone and with a feeling of emptiness that
took many years to be finally satiated. It was during these periods of grief
that Salera grew into her resolve and purpose. Seeking to grow strong enough
to take to the frontlines and protect those who were not strong enough to
fend for themselves and to cut down the wicked who found pleasure in killing
the innocent.
Jinx

Jinx was the name of her family pet, a hound that found their way upon her
doorstep and decided to remain by their side. So long as a payment of scraps
were afforded to him; Salera had come to miss him. Often finding herself
daydreaming about his laugh and playful scamper he did when they were about
to go on a trick around the city perimeter. These exact feelings of nostalgia
colored her soul when she first uttered the words that prompted her familiar
to appear. Both shocked and in disbelief a coyote oddly resembling her
dutiful pet came to rest at her heels; anticipating their next set of
actions. Jinx has now been by her side for sometime and without fail they
bravely enter the fray with her against the darkest of foes. It felt right to
name her familiar after her family pet, as a means of keeping their memory
alive even after death.
The Righteousness of the Jaguar

Like a child to their parent; Salera soaked in the wisdom that her Captain
offered. With a heightened sense of excitement that made her eyes come alive.
She was no longer the young conjurer who first joined the Fortress halls and
looked at the backs of those she looked up to. Rather she was now fighting
alongside them, learning what it truly meant to bring the fight to the
growing Darkness without allowing them any place to rest. She came to
recognize that her magic was extremely dangerous but powerful magic; and that
she required an iron will and quick thinking to ensure none of her allies
ever got hurt by it. It taught her responsibility, caution, and most
importantly what sacrifice meant. She lost her parents at a young age,
sacrificing everything so that she could live on. But now she was in a
position where she was willing to fight and sacrifice every fiber of her
being to ensure that the light was preserved. That those who came after her
were given their own chance to live, to grow, to laugh.

With the passing of the Captain, while prepared and understanding that it
comes to us all it still left a lingering effect on Saleras heart. Like
with her father she wondered if she would make them proud, if they could find
true peace and rest knowing that those after them would be able to fight the
good fight as they. These feelings weighed on Salera no matter how she chose
to shake them, but she understood rather than run from these feelings- she
could lean into them. Allow these emotions to forge a new sense of
righteousness in the war that loomed ahead of her. She would continue to
fight, she would continue to aid those that she can, and she would teach all
those willing to hear and receive her words.
Poetry

*Scribbled ferociously on a piece of bloodstained paper, is her free thoughts*
You will find me nestled between the spaces of a stanza. Reciting
incantations colored within the recesses of my own mind. A verse, a plea, a
manifestation of something that will live beyond me. Poetry was my first form
of salvation long before I picked up a spellbook and uttered my first spell.
I find myself moving to the cadence of my favorite poems and songs, drawing
from them the will to remain holy and strong. As a poem my form can also
change depending on my emotions: from friend, to soldier, to lover. I am all
these things and yet sometimes I feel like nothing at all-
