Description
Short blonde hair is combed back revealing azure blue eyes, a small
nose and mouth that's never far from a smile. The man before you is
of average height and is rather gaunt. A minty scent lingers about
him. Notably his hands up in thick fingers with splotches of ink on
them. He has a youthful spryness to his steps and moves with an
eagerness.

The impopular choice of conjuration

- "Zis is eine terrible idea Scalterion Altaricis!"
His mothers accent always got worse when she was angry with him. The usage of his
full name was another way to tell. He had grown up in a mages conclave to the north.
Most of them were disinterested in the world but his mother had been an exception.
She had been a dedicated servant to the Light before joining his father in the mages
conclave to study their field, which was invocation magic.
- "Ja knov, there is a technique fer you if you study elementalist magic! It is ze
vey of the ancient Warlocks of ze Golden Grimoire. Meine spells vill not harm
innocents bystanders. But you vant to become a conjurer? Haf you seen ze elementals?
Eine engel? They are reckless. Scalterion Altaricis, you should study ze field of
invocation like me and your father."
But Scalterion did not have any talents in invocation magic. His skills were instead
in Planar Fields. Conjuration.
- "Meine mother, others haf valked zis path. I vill seek their guidance. I vill find
ze vey. And ter knov about zis, about planar studies. It is key, zere are vicked vones
bringing forth demons unt devils. Nightvalkers! I shall learn ter send them back
vhence they came!" he had replied to his mother. It was not the first and certainly
not the last time they had that discussion. But his mind was set and besides, he was
never great with keeping to rules.
His father had been absent as always, deeply invested in his studies. Of what
Scalterion never knew.
Walking through the Academy he learned of the Fortress of Light and the idea of joining
was born.
Member of the Fortress and looking for a mentor

To be anything but good was never a question for Scalterion. It never occured to him
that he could have not cared about others in Thera. Yet to know what truly is good he
realized he would need a mentor, a teacher. Having reached the pinnacle of his guild
his guildmasters did not have much more to teach him.
The fortress had several candidates but in the end he decided to turn for higher guidance
in the form of Lord Einoh. He visited the shrine but for now patience seemed to be
the lesson at hand.
As a member of the Fortress of Light he felt he still had much to learn. Some lessons
would come from his comrades, others he knew he had to learn by himself in service
in the war.
Meeting with Einoh

The ascetic lord was a man of two smiles, the pained and the happy. In their talks Scalterion brought
up the challenge of bringing celestial servitors to Thera and possibly leading them to their death. It
had been a thought that had always lingered in the back of his head, especially in the hours just before
falling asleep. However as Einoh aptly pointed out the archons and angels are not beings of apathy. The
war against evil rages on, on the Prime or elsewhere. This confirmed Scalterions thoughts on the subject
and eased his mind, though as they concluded the subject Scalterion highlighted the importance of
bringing them when it is needed, to make their effort worth. And should they fall, be it for a noble
cause.
Scalterion rose the point of how he had hoped the choices of doing good would be easy, but that when
analysed it is not always easy and from instincts. He learned that convenience is often the enemy
of good. Most good things do not come easily, naturally or simply. Goodness is something we make,
something we bring from within us and give to the world and to others.
The discussion touched on verbal camouflage and the importance of saying things the way they are.
Calling the slaying of evil removal of evil is a way to hide its brutality. By extension it is a
way to hide evil in plain sight.
After that a discussion on violence which Scalterion saw as a tool, but also saw drawbacks with - how
it can be a spiral as well. Death of one creates plans of vengeance for another.
They spoke of how the context here would provide the details of whether it would be good or not. And
that indeed we must judge our own actions, what we do and why we do it to find goodness.
Scalterion revealed an evil he carried, that he had killed those who are morally indifferent in order
to gain rods or similar. Einoh revealed an evil within him in return.
Lastly Scalterion was given a task. To call evil what it is when he finds it inside the Fortress in
at least two others of his comrades. Engage in the uncomfortable act of calling evil what it is.
That way it is revealed and can be remedied. It will be a challenge.
