Description
The wood-elf before you is stranger than most you have seen, with skin the
hue of sun-kissed beaches, and hair the color of sandy coral. Her eyes
glitter with mischief, an aquamarine the color of where sea meets sky. Her
long tangled hair would be a tangled mess, if not for the beads of pearls
clustering it into many alternating beaded strands.
A button nose like a cute hermit crab joyfully emerging to start its day
sits over a mouth with lips sparkling like the glass between grains of
delicate sand. Her skin is adorn with ornaments that make clear her tribe's
community is among the shoals, corals, and jungled beaches of the western
seas. Purely decoration between her pieces for obvious use are sharkskin
bracelets, clips of abalone shell, and necklaces of glass and shell.
More than simply her tribe's origins, a serenity surrounds this female elf
who is obviously a priestess of the sea, with a temperament that shifts
between placid calm and raging tumult.
Role
The Dead Zone

The fish were dying or gone. As her tribe of coral reef wood-elves approached
the center of the dead zone in the Sea of Despair, it became clear the
trouble was spreading outward from the ancient Nexus island.
The Vault of Nyastren and the Rift above it had been sealed early in the
fourth age. Fluctuation in the Veil between the Prime Material Plane and
Plane of Magic was normal. However, nowhere in her reclusive tribe's
history had such death and loss been recorded among sea life and habitat
where her community resided among the remote shoals and sandy jungle beaches.
Something was new, something was amiss, something had come.
This was their mission, to find out what or who had incurred upon their
territory. Perhaps the magical bonds of the long ago sealed rift were simply
wearing down as some elders claimed.
Sedna Sandcoral, her tribe's priestess of the sea, raised her eyes higher
slightly above the waters surface as she treaded water with hands and feet
as easily as she had done her entire life living in this ancient inland sea.
Lips below the water, she made some clicking noises, which carried some
distance, with no danger of being heard above the surface. In response,
several of her tribe's warriors' eyes could be seen as they raised above
the surface at various points around the Nexus island.
Then they saw them. Shadowy beasts, nightwalkers, prowled the islands edges
as couriers darted back and forth. At their side stood Scion as well as a
mage with symbols on his robe paying homage to the ancient Masters. Most
striking however, were the amount of lesser conjurers... so many! Conjured
circles were everywhere among the island, but all leading to the ancient
vault and sealed rift. Conjurers, so many conjurers working in tandem! But
the horror was not only the conjured beings next to the nightwalkers, but the
rift magic that was being used and directed towards the ancient Rift as this
strange assembly did their work and research towards what end she did not
know.
A sinking realization came to her. This would not be a combat mission. Her
tsunami waves would not crash upon the shores of these invaders this night.
There were simply too many. Too many for even her tribe. Sedna, priestess of
the sea, made a few clicking noises, and sensing her comrades frustration,
the decision was none the less made to return home to report to the elders.
They had seen what was destroying their home and threatening the world.
Whether the warning had come early or late was yet to be determined. They
would need to seek help elsewhere, but where yet, she did not know.
Sedna Sandcoral & Tribe
Added Sun Sep 11 21:47:41 2022 at level 27:
Sedna Sandcoral grew up in her tribe among the Sea of Despair, an inland
sea, known for its unpredictable lightning, rains, and sandy jungle beaches.
While her tribe is wood-elf, it favors the reefs, shoals, and sands of their watery
habitat and rarely travels "inland" being a remote community more at home on water than land.
Not to be confused with sea elves or merians, Sedna's tribe does not breathe underwater
nor possess non wood-elf abilities other than an extreme familiarity with their watery home.
Sedna is a priestess of the sea for her tribe. A druid, with the power to call tsunamis
torrential rain and lightning, and a love and respect for all the sea's creatures.
While only one or two priestesses of the sea are seen each generation, it is obviously a
valued position in her tribe, given the benefits to their way of life and dangers that
exist. Seen as a druid by the circles, she thinks the circles neglect to respect and
study that amazing sea world that exists and the gifts and bounties it provides.
Her community raises their children collectively and a sense of mother and father is a
foreign concept to her tribe, as all share the joy of raising their children. While there
is of course a birthing mother, it is seen as no more significant as the hundreds
of lessons and upbringing teaching moments shared by the community as a whole.
Her community is extremely sharing with food, daily tools, and anything else a member needs
in their daily lives. However, because outsiders taken advantage of this, they are extremely
guarded around those from the "inlands" who visit the community.
Sedna often misses her watery home and will seek out oceans, rivers and lakes whenever possible,
especially when it is time to rest for an extended period. She feels uncomfortable around
the deserts, despite telling herself that she should also respect its beauty.
Her tribe has long been at war with the Sahuagin and Pirates of her Sea. They also have grown
wary of the encroaching Dairein Settlement, Imperial scouts, and now especially the conjuration
that threatens their home by ripping the very fabric of the world.
