Description

Aged silver hair, laced with threads of brilliant gold, form the ear-length crown of the azure-touched, whose wrinkled caramel skin enfolds features that are gracile and fair, sporting a gently-curved chin and a strong nose set beneath an elegant brow. Age lines and scars riddle her features, yet they seem to enhance a sense of stern dignity instead of appearing as signs of weakness. Strikingly, her face features eyes whose irises are the color of fine, argent silver. Her frame and build both tend more towards the light and agile, the better to throw off sparks of light - real or imagined - when struck at just the right angle by sun, torch, or lamp. She stands just past the 1.5-metre mark in height, and looks to weigh about fivescore times that in pounds, all of which is accounted for with springy muscle and razor-fine agility - which do not seem to be inhibited in the slightest by the years that are weighing on the woman's form.

Shakiniel was born in Voralian City, and found the theology of worshipping
Lady Voralia to come exceedingly easy. So easy, in fact, that in her
adolescence it became quite clear that she was one of the Azure-touched,
thanks to the event where, upon being beseeched by a beggar, her eyes were
overtaken by the silvery gleam of Azure radiance, the young woman proceeding
to overturn her entire coin pouch into the man's grubby hands to his tears and
thanks. Struggling to cope with the cities' joy at having another symbol of
Lady Voralia's favor born into town, Shakiniel was pressed by both her family
and the public at large into joining the Voralian Order, where she spent
unhappy years engaging in the basics of martial training, as expected of an
azure-touched. After all, one that didn't  fight for the Light invariably
supported it as a healer. The expectations of her based on her heritage
eventually culminated in a daring runaway to the Aubade, abandoning
responsibility to follow her own dreams in life. Shakiniel has come to
believe, in her studies at the Aubade, that personal choice is one of the most
important things in life, and that most evil comes from beings robbed of
choice by some mechanism or another. The guild of conjurers, being one of the
largest sources of such compulsions in Thera, has acquired the fledgling
bard's attention as something excessively distasteful. A fan of epic
tradition, the village of the Battleragers has acquired a legendary status in
Shakiniel's mind, and she wishes to aid in purging the stain of such evil
magics from Thera due to their powerful symbolism as rebels, far from the
highly structured life of the Voralian Order.
Whether she'll be able to join the Village despite
having an aversion for the sight of blood or bodies is another matter...

Following her attempts to join the Village and being generally slaughtered by
a bunch of shapeshifters, Shakiniel finally managed to kill an antipaladin
that was wounded from fighting commoners in Voralian City, and thus pledged to
Tahren to join the Village. Confronted with much skepticism and discouraging
words from the drillmaster, who was clearly attempting to ensure Shakiniel
didn't make a mistake by joining something - in her juvenile state - she
wasn't prepared for, Shakiniel responded by getting angry. She wasn't afraid
of what she'd have to do to be a Villager. She'd already died so many times in
the process that to give up now would be to prove her family and the Order
right, that she really wasn't suited for anything except Divine service. She
made it clear to Terath that just because she didn't have a burning hatred for
mages didn't mean she wasn't serious about aiding the Village and the War,
and eventually got her defender's hut through the force of her words and
showing Terath her willpower! Now her next goal in life is to rank up in the
bard's guild and get to know her new compatriots.
