Description
Standing before you is a hideous orc. He stands
nearly six and a half feet tall and his body is
slender but numerous muscles ripple under his
skin, which is a mixture of yellow and grey and
is covered in numerous scabs and festering boils.
His face is long and broad with numerous cuts
and open wounds. One cheek bone seems indented
as though it has been shattered in the past. His
nose is set crooked between two dull grey eyes
that appear almost lifeless. His thin lips reveal
a row of jagged and broken teeth. His hair is long
and matted with entire sections missing as though
they have been pulled out.

Skriggua was born much like most of his Grinning Skull
kin, meaning quite simply that his mother was a breeder
and his father one of many to visit her that day. His
upbringing was communal in the sense that he did not
know a "traditional" (even for orcs) family structure.
He roamed the streets of the Village begging for or
stealing scraps when he could. Life was hard on the
orc and his body showed it. He was far more frail than
most of his brethren and in the "might makes right" world
of the Grinning Skulls that meant that Skriggua was not
much more than a slave. He was pushed around and forced
to do manual labour on behalf of his better, stronger
cousins.
Skriggua was always lazy, but it was most likely this
catalyst that caused him to long for an easier life. He
was eventually taken in by a Taskmaster who made Skriggua
his personal servant. Skriggua the weak, as he was now
known found his true potential in the kitchen where he
quickly became the preferred cook for his master and his
men.
Skriggua liked this new arrangement because if nothing else
it meant he had more than enough food to steal and horde.
Life was finally looking up for the orc, he was even putting
on a few pounds (and even some muscle) and then something
horrible happened. Skriggua found The Coin. And his life
would never be the same again.

The day was to be quite simple. Skriggua was to accompany his
master and a few heavily armed orcs to ambush an Elven convoy
of supplies headed through the Vale of Ardenyl to Darsylon. It
wasn't the first time Skriggua had gone on an ambush, he was
always careful to stay out of sight but always the first to
pick at the scraps after the battle was finished. This time
something was different however. The air had a different texture
and it seems almost thick. Not with humidity, but rather with
the tense feeling of impending doom. Skriggua wasn't the only
one who realized it, and soon the inherent and ever-present
spirit of the coward began to rise amongst the orcs as they
waited in their make-shift trench.
Just as the first rose to flee the arrows came from the trees
around them. The would-be marauders had been ambushed themselves.
Just as swiftly heavily armed Elves descended from every direction
and the Taskmaster was struck dead before he could bark his first
orders. Orcs scattered in all directions but none ran faster than
Skriggua. He had no armor to weight him down, and he was far more
agile than most. This aside he could not out run the arrows and
by the time he reached the Tir-Talanth road he had been struck in
the back by three. He staggered and fell a few paces into the
bush. For a being that barely had the motivation to chew his food
(the only thing he truly loved) it was fair to assume that he lacked
the power of will to overcome this. Surely he would die in this ditch
far from the "comforts" of the Grinning Skull Village. Just as his
world began to fade to darkness he saw the glimmer of gold in the
brush before him. He reached out with his last strength and grabbed
it, a simple gold coin.
As he clutched it, he heard a roar like that of a dragon. So loud he
thought his ears would surely bleed. With that he lost consciousness
and when he awoke again he found himself back home on his cot.
Confused and weakened he rose and staggered about the tiny room.
Looking down he saw he was still holding the coin, he stared at it
for a moment before hearing a voice deep in the back of his own mind
say: "There are going to be some changes around here."
Duality

From that day forward Skriggua has been slave to a new Taskmaster.
He constantly hears the loud "dragon-like" voice of The Coin ordering
him to do things that he simply does not want to do. The coin orders
him to train with weapons. To march with the other orcs to battle and
(for the first time in his life) to shed blood along side them. When
it comes time to wake, The Coin screams at him until he complies. The
few times that the cowardly Skriggua has refused, either out of will
or pure exhaustion The Coin has screamed so loudly that Skriggua
complied out of pain.
Skriggua is confused by the fact that the other orcs can't hear The
Coin. He often appears insane to them as he thrashes around screaming
at a simple coin. As time has gone on the aims of The Coin have become
rather clear: it desires the Orc village for it's own. A vessel to
accomplish things that Skriggua never would have desired. All he wants
is to be a cook and eat well, while The Coin desires a conquest so large
that only the Empire could compare to it's lofty goals.
There have been times that Skriggua has attempted to "lose" The Coin
only to find it in his hand again when he wakes. His ultimate goal is to
be free from it's influence. Until that happens he will be a slave to
it's simple goals: war, victory, strength and destruction.
Notes
Added Mon Nov 26 23:39:45 2012 at level 1:
Skriggua is an unwilling vessel for The Coin. What exactly The Coin is
is unknown to Skriggua. It could be a medium that a divine creature is
using to manifest it's will on Thera or it could be a psychological
break that occured while SKriggua thought he was dying.
Skriggua and The Coin are polar opposites. While Skriggua longs for an
easy life full of food The Coin desires only conquest. This creates an
interesting conflict in which The Coin almost always wins due in large
part to Skriggua's lack of will. It could be said that The Coin has
replaced whatever sort of will-power Skriggua once had. Skriggua is
dumb, The Coin is cunning. Skriggua is weak, The Coin is strong.
Skriggua is simple, The Coin is complex.
Skriggua has no desire to be anything more than a cook. His whole life
he was often deprived of food and that had long-lasting psychological
affects on the orc. From this he cannot get enough food. He is the
prototypical glutton. In this one could say he and The Coin share their
only common ground as The Coin is a glutton for war and victory.
Skriggua secretly wants to be free from The Coin. While he has no idea
how to do this he plans to seek out others as best he can to aid him
in this quest. His first intent was to meet with the Dark Queen Mergulla
as he has worshipped Her since he was first introduced to Her religion
by his now dead Master. However, he now hears rumours that the Queen
is lost to the Ages. An act that the Coin boldly takes credit for.
The Coin is never heard by others, but often forces Skriggua to speak
on his behalf. Skriggua will always preface this by saying "Coin says"
to denote that the following words come from The Coin and not him. It
is also interesting to note that the words he regurgitates for The Coin
are often far more eloquent than Skriggua himself would ever speak.
