Description

This massive giantess is large even for one of her kind, but has an almost perfect proportion to her muscular body. So flawless is her marble-white skin one might mistake her for an artists creation rather than a living breathing woman. Her strong chiseled jaw line, prominent chin, upturned nose and full lipped grimace show little emotion except determination. Her deep set eyes seemingly pupilless and opal in color, a cloud-shrouded gaze that seem to judge a persons very soul. Long flowing ivory hair with blue streaks pours out from beneath her helmet down her back into a long single braid to her waist. She hovers above the ground with a strange grace for one so big, a thin trail of mist flowing behind her almost like wings. She is adorned in well cared for thick plate armor, that bear the marks of combat across it. She wields a huge polearm as if it was a scythe ready to begin the harvest.

Role

The Ritual

She remembered little about what had happened before now, just flashes and
feelings really. Her first memory was a brief period of great joy spent with
her twin inside her mothers womb, it was the only time she had felt whole
and at peace.  Then being torn from it abruptly, and the unimaginable pain of
entering the world before she was fully formed and ready.  Flailing on the
wooden deck of a ship reaching for her sister, surrounded by strangers
chanting some ritual, as a pale fog hung over everything. One of the sailors
called out in panic as the waters around the ship became littered with dead
fish. 

She remembered her rage as something deep in her knew this was wrong,
it wasnt time yet. Her and her sister huddled naked trying to comfort each
other, as they were poked and examined like livestock by the conjurer.  Worse
yet then that was as the accursed conjurer dragged her off minutes later, she
remembered her mother the storm giantess captain of the ship, would not even
look at her as she tried to call out to her. Whisked away by the same magical
taint to the natural order that created whatever abominations her and her
sister are. That feeling of rejection would cut her to her very soul.

King Gorindos Court

The next memory was King Gorindos court, a mighty beast of a cloud
giant who impressed even Skulda with his fierceness. She remembered hoping to
find acceptance there but mostly it was sneers and whispers. She felt no
kinship to these giants she was supposed to be one of, as she was more than
them, they were a pale image to their ancient ancestors and they knew it.
They called her a freak and witch behind her back, rubbing in the magical
heritage that already disgusted her so. There was one who was different
though, Ujesken Jyo-tan he was called, and from his lips she first learned
what she was; Valkallyr a being of savage power from the pages of Theras
history long forgotten. That she had been created with forbidden savage magic
as a counter to one of her own, but born from the giants of fire. That was
the truth of it then, a twisted being  brought forth by foul magics to serve
as an executioner. She would be an instrument of death, but not in the way
Ujesken hoped. It was then she decided all magic would be her foe. 


It was also during this time she realized while twins her and her sister were
not identical by any means. Skulda was sullen and ill tempered while Tyra
clearly embraced more of her storm giant heritage and seemed more filled with
hope. While they both felt a deep connection with the natural order of
things, Tyra sought to embrace nature and protect it while Skulda was
fascinated with the cycle of life and death, that all things have their
allotted time and then die. What intrigued her most was that after her
purpose was completed then hopefully she too would die, the greatest gift for
an abomination born of magic.

Tales of Amaranthe

Skulda grew restless among the cloud giants where she did not fit in and her
mentor Ujesken wanting her to embrace the magic of the Nexuns to become the
weapon she was bred to be. Her sister wanted her to stay but she was
determined to find her own path, so off into the world she flew. She traveled
the different cities for months, but did not find a place among any of them
and was even attacked just outside of Udgaard by the Jaettes. She settled in
Galadon, where at least she could hide amongst such a diverse populace. 


In one of the human settlements she visited on her travels, a small farming
town she almost thought she found a home but it was not meant to be. They
were a tight knit group of families and were very wary of the strange giant
who offered to help harvest the crop with them for some shelter and food. She
marveled at the closeness of these families, and longed to feel like they
did. She was especially fond of the children, something in her was drawn to
them. Perhaps it was because she was denied her own childhood, or some
motherly instinct, but they did not seem to judge her like the adults did.
She even began talking like the cloud giants in Gorindos palace did because
it made them laugh. She found pretending to use the stunted speech of her
supposed brethren seemed to make her stand out less as well.

They were simple country folk and worshipers of the Goddess Amaranthe, and
as soon as Skulda overheard their prayers to her she felt drawn to their
Goddess as well. Skulda being rejected by her own Mother felt an instant
affinity for this divine mother figure. It was the teachings of the Crone and
the great cycle that really hooked her though. Her purpose as a bringer of
death did not have to be an ugly thing but part of the natural way of things.
She was given a lesson of it first hand as she witnessed the breech birth of
a little girl, unfortunately the strain of it was too much for the young
mother and she did not survive. Skulda was fascinated with the beauty of it
all, a mother giving her life energy so that her child might flourish and
begin the great Cycle a new. Sadly the villagers blamed the new stranger in
their town for the mother dying, saying she had brought a curse to their
village and drove her off shortly after. She vowed though to learn more of
the Goddess and the Great Cycle.

Battle Rager

Skulda was feeling lost after having turned down her mentors offer to join
him on the magic island. Then Ujesken did something most unexpected, he
introduced her to the Commander of the Battle Ragers. Arratok he was known as
a disfigured beast of a duergar who had seen more war than Skulda could
imagine. Ujesken had told the warlord of Skulda and the other Valkallyrs
tale and he had taken a great interest. It was a tense meeting between the
three in the Galadon warriors guild. Even seasoned veterans gave them a wide
berth as they discussed Skuldas future. When it was done Arratok decided it
was fate that brought them together and that he would do something unheard of
and bring her into the Village with yet having spilled any mage blood. She
thought it strange as she left with Arratok that one day she might have to
face her old mentor Ujesken on the field of battle. 

Arratok brought her before the massive giant, guardian of the Village and
performed the rite of initiation, cutting a wound into her chest with an
ancient broken blade. However the grizzled smith Tahren, destroyer of magic
had other ideas and refused to hear her oath until she was bathed in magi
blood and not just her own. So she set out on her first hunt, and it wasnt
long before she came upon a young wizard in the city of Hamsah Mutazz. The
poor magi did not know what hit him as Skulda tore him nearly in half with an
axe in the middle of a tavern. Even over the screams of horror and a very
angry Habib the inn owner, she felt an exhilaration she had never felt
before. She felt she was truly fulfilling her purpose, and for a brief moment
she felt a flicker of joy.

She proudly returned to Arratok and he brought her amongst the Village, she
finally had a true mentor and perhaps a place in this world. He ordered his
villagers to train her in their ways of war and any tactics that could help
her defeat Xona. Skulda began to believe that perhaps she could defeat Xona
without endangering her sister at all, if she could just grow strong enough
to take on that fire touched bitch herself. Sadly her joy again became ash as
Arratok ascended into the heavens, leaving her mentorless again just days
after joining the village. The other villagers did not seem to hold the same
enthusiasm he did for her training. Worse yet the remaining villagers wished
to make a truce with Xonas allies the Empire. She vowed to learn as much as
she could from these grizzled warriors whether they liked it or not. If she
could not sway their path now, perhaps one day she could earn their respect.

Seeking the Moon

Skulda knelt before the old Crone before her and prayed to the Goddess of the
Harvest moon once again, asking for her guidance. The crone seemed to look
through her, already seeing her demise and not yet deeming her worthy of her
wisdom. Much had happened in the last few moons. Her sister Tyra had gone
missing in the wilds, at first Skulda thought she was just off training for
the trials ahead like she had been. Skulda began leaving letters to her
sister at their meeting spot, but they went unanswered. Skulda had feared
Xona had gotten to her, when she was not around to protect her.

Full of rage Skulda tracked down Xona and finally met her nemesis on the
field of battle. Xona fell like wheat to the scythe under Skuldas brutal
assault, but to her disappointment the Valkallyr of Destruction seem unphased
by her defeat and worse yet pleaded ignorance to Tyras fate. This would be
the first of a few skirmishes between the two, with Skulda for now defeating
Xona. Always Xona seem unphased promising her that her rise to power had only
begun, and belittling Skulda as a false Valkallyr. These barbs did not cut
deep, but a single question did. Xona asked her why Skulda wished to destroy
her. A simple question, but it pulled at all Skuldas inner doubts. Did she
only seek to destroy Xona because thats what the Nexuns filled her mind
with, were they truly enemies? Was she truly just a weapon doing exactly what
the magi she despised wished of her?  If Tyra had been lost to the world then
why continue the fight against Xona, why did she care what happened to anyone
besides her sister. Something kept reminding her though of the simple farmers
who had befriended her for a while. Perhaps defending them and their quaint
ways was a worthy enough purpose. At the very least perhaps making sure no
more Valkallyr were brought forth would be enough for now.

She felt more lost than ever, as even her mentor Ujesken who she had a love
and hate relationship had finally fallen to her fellow barbarians. Tyra was
lost or had been sent to the underworld by some unknown foe. Skulda had
defeated her foe Xona but the pleasure from it was just a fleeting wisp of
purpose to her now. The Coven must hold some answers for her, if she could
but earn the grace of Amaranthe it would fill her with purpose renewed. She
prayed one last time running her massive hand across the faded Ankh on the
altar and left the temple. She thought she heard the crone cackle or perhaps
it was just the raven cawing at her as she floated off into the fields.
