Description

A silver haired woman with meticulously braided hair stands before you. Hundreds of small braids have been drawn together with a band of black leather in a high ponytail. Each braid is secured with a small, faceted gemstone from the depths of the Underdark. Amid the silver plaits are a number of dyed strands of teal, crimson, and aubergine. Her left brow is pierced with two gleaming metal studs. Beneath the cacophony of hues and gleam of metal sits a pair of slate grey eyes. Thin lips have been tinted with a berry hue, perhaps to draw attention from a large scar that stretches from her jawbone to her clavicle. Her build is lithe, but hints of the musculature underneath her garments can be found in her silent gait and precise movements. She rarely deigns to look upon those who would seek to get her attention in the middle of a crowded city square. An ornate amulet with a sigil of the Morian faith sits upon her chest.

Role

Chapter 1: Pride Cometh Before the Fall

Added Wed Jan 7 20:23:55 2026 at level 27:
Stubborn. Headstrong. Foolish.

Insufferable.

These were the words that Solenzara Shi'n-Ardul's peers and family use to
describe her. When she was young and left to the company of her older
brothers, Solenzara would wrestle and spar with them. Inevitably, she would
lose. This was no reason to quit, however. She pushed her scraped and bloodied
knees into the earth, stood up on her feet, and challenged them again. Her
brothers humored her antics and were certain that she'd learn restraint after
the third time she dislocated her shoulder. Maybe she would learn to stand
down after her swollen fingers - which resembled blood sausages moreso than
digits - were too battered to close into a fist. And yet, Solenzara didn't
stop.

The characterization of being 'dauntlessly stubborn' granted by her mother - a
famed warrior who patrolled the streets of Teth Azeleth - was enough to spur
Solenzara to try for greater success. Soon, she would challenge all the youth
within the shadow of Lloth. Whether they were playing with carved bone marbles
in the streets or shooting arrows into a captured elven paladin, the young
drow was ever prideful. "I will win. And even if I don't, you would never be
brave enough to challenge me like I have challenged you."

Chapter 2

Added Wed Jan 7 20:26:36 2026 at level 27:
She lost more often than she won. Her battered body and desperate desire to
prove herself warred with the reality of biology and the world at large. Men
were stronger. Her other peers were smarter. And even though she was young and
healthy, each and every wound took time to heal. Scrapes sat atop bruises.
Contusions nestled into her skin like maggots, marring her ebon skin with
blotches. Every muscle ached as she pushed herself out of bed and asked
herself what she would accomplish today.

As her peers matured, Solenzara's lifestyle became troublesome for her family.
All of the plucky zeal that her mother had encouraged left the family with a
daughter that would never be able to carry the family's name. Who would marry
a woman that saw even the act of walking to the sea as an invitation to an
exhausting foot race?

One of these races led the young drow straight into the waiting claws of a
cavefisher. She was winning (for once!) and turned back to yell and goad her
'rival' into trying harder. It wasn't fun if they didn't *try*. Her competitor
had her back pressed against a wall with a sword clutched in her hands. Terror
caused her face to pale, and Solenzara had only a moment to turn before the
beast struck.

Chapter 3

Added Wed Jan 7 20:28:42 2026 at level 27:
By the time her family rescued her, Solenzara was bleeding out. A passing
priestess stabilized her, saving her life, but the massive wound took months
to heal. Chained to her recovery bed, Solenzara was resentful that no one had
stopped her. If her family had forbid her from racing in the caverns of the
Underdark, she wouldn't be here, suffering. She argued that she'd even have
friends - which she desperately wanted. Her family didn't dignify her petulant
outburst with a reply.

Months later, Solenzara set out on her own, determined to find a guild that
would accept loners and misfits. The life of a ranger called to her, but she
could hardly challenge a boar to a duel. The drow spent months drifting
between paths. She was kicked out of the warrior's school for being too
hotheaded and ignoring her footwork. The conjurer's guild flatly denied her an
opportunity for a forever friend in the form of a familiar. If she summoned a
demon, who could guess what chaos would be wrought? Even the college of
invokers denied her after she injured a classmate with an errant 'really
badass' spell. No one (save for Solenzara herself) was impressed by the size
of her conjured flame or the fact that she had torched the walls of the
classroom.

Chapter 4

Added Wed Jan 7 20:32:15 2026 at level 27:
A year after her last trial run with a guild leader, Solenzara came across a
wandering, ascetic shapeshifter outside of Seantryn Modan. He took many
forms and was self-sufficient, surly, and spoke to her rarely. Under his
cruel tutelage, Solenzara was forced to turn her competitive spirit inward.
She would wake up in the middle of the night in a tundra and had to survive
until daybreak. He tied her wrists and feet and dropped her into the Aryth.
"Sink or swim, stubborn girl."

She choked, sank, and awoke at the edge of the meadow with a burning pain in
her chest. He had rescued her just this once, but expected her to do better.
There would be no second chances again. With every challenge, her prowess
grew. If Solenzara grew weary of her training, her mentor reminded her that
rangers half her age had mastered these skills years ago. Hell, a toddler
could probably use faerie fire more effectively than she could. A year to
the day after meeting him, her mentor vanished into the night, leaving her
only a small scrap of parchment to remember him by. It read:

"Solenzara,

You have the potential to go far. I hope you will never bow to the whims of
others or walk a path that is not your own. You could survive in a tsunami
with your pride alone, and the world would take that from you. They would
have you repeat their sad, ordinary lives. Do not let them."

Chapter 5

Added Wed Jan 7 20:34:15 2026 at level 27:
When Solenzara was accepted into the Shapeshifters Guild, she soared past her
younger peers. They spent time eating, resting, and socializing. They formed
groups and had a bevy of inside jokes that fell upon deaf ears. Those were the
ordinary lives that her mentor had warned her about. Some of the kinder souls
within the guild beseeched her to join them, but were rebuffed with
Solenzara's unwavering oath:

"I will not ever join another adventurer until I reach the pinnacle of my
guild on my own. I will not ask for aid from others, in the form of equipment
or information. I will only ever join a cabal that courts me for my skill. I
will not pledge myself to their cause first, even if I must remain alone."

When her bewildered classmates asked her why she would bother to do things in
such a foolish, masochistic way, she replied with an epiphany that drove the
wedge between them even further,

"You all will learn together. You will use each other as crutches. Where is
your pride? Where are your dreams? Do you think that growing in pairs and
trios is anything short of shameful? I will accomplish something that makes me
different from all within Thera."

The Descent into Rage Pt I

Added Sat Jan 10 00:51:58 2026 at level 36:
My solitary journey to the pinnacle of my guild has been a delightful and
lonely gauntlet. There were setbacks. I died to a turkey at a low title and
considered spending all of my time annihilating them. To leave the Underdark
and perish to a brainless bird wandering the roads near Dagdan... the shame
was almost too much to bear.

But then I remembered my faith and my calling. To give up in the face of a
setback - even an especially grievous one - there is no pride in that. I
continued on. I perished once to another adventurer: Caserque. She is an odd
transmuter that seeks to collect samples. My pride was not diminished from
falling to her, since she was a skilled combatant. Besides, it could have been
a fluke. It's not like anyone else has succeeded.

I gained the forms of a tortoise and giant mantis. I do not think anyone knows
that I have them, save for a few that I speak to rarely. I spend my time
learning outside the city, far from the reach and sight of my foes. I grow
alone while they rely on each other. I spoke to the Provincial Magistrate
Zindlup and explained my oath and desire to note join cabal unless I was
courted and invited specifically. He invited me to the Spire. I am certain he
saw my value.

The Descent into Rage Pt II

Added Sat Jan 10 00:53:59 2026 at level 36:
... But there are other places I could end up, and I am determined not to join
a cabal until my pinnacle. I could be a second class citizen of the Empire. I
was most interested in the Chasm, so I spoke to Ymstrecca.

I HATE HER. I loathe her. I want to rip her stupid goblin-god worshipping
spine from her hideous lizard body. I explained my goals and how I sought to
bring glory to Morius. I told her I would do what few Therans have ever done.

She asked me WHY SHE SHOULD CARE. ?!?!

I thought saurians had good sight, but she is BLIND to how unique I am. I
replied with a reason to care: that she could offer me an invitation to join
the Chasm. I added that I would not be a recruit that begged or flattered her.

She told me my place was at the INN OF THE ETERNAL STAR.

I have never been disregarded or insulted in this way. I thought to
immediately take the Oath. The Empire stands against the Chasm in a way the
Tribunal never will. I took a few moments to calm myself. I must reflect on
the best way to ruin her. I have time.

A Plan Takes Shape

Added Tue Jan 13 17:07:02 2026 at level 42:
I've thought up a brilliant plan. I have persevered for long enough to gain
insight into the form of a gazelle.

I will not beg the Chancellor for a position within the Chasm, but there is
nothing wrong with tricking her and using her abundant greed against her. She
wants the strongest Scions to hunt her foes. And the gazelle is a very strong
form indeed. I'm sure she will assume I gained insight into a gargoyle like
Zindlup, or something similar.

So now all I have to do is convince her to invite me into the Chasm. Perhaps I
could get her to beg? She is a simple lizard with basic, primal desires. She
cares for strength, as if that is all that matters.

I will show her why the sin of Pride is better than that of Greed. Other
Morians may disagree, but I know that Pride is the foundation for all that we
achieve through sin and stubbornness.

Ymstrecca is blinded by her covetous, bloodthirsty heart. And I will make a
fool of her.

Pride in the Pinnacle

Added Tue Jan 20 21:22:49 2026 at level 51:
My efforts have been less than fruitful. After telling the Chancellor about my
newest form, she responded that I did not belong with the Heralds, but in a
whorehouse in Galadon. Her barbs are as effective as her leadership, so my
anger has ebbed. She does not deserve my rage. Pity is a better fit. Even the
orc, Vuxa, complained that Ymstrecca forgot that it was the orcs who raised
her and lured easy prey to their Village for her to slaughter.

When I confronted her about the Advisor that she dismissed from the Chasm and
how she probably did it because they would usurp her, she continued to insult
me. Even the conniving leaders in Teth can justify their actions with a deft
lie. She simply redirected the conversation to calling me 'child' again.

Otherwise, I finally accomplished my greatest goal. I imagine my family has
received my missive and are impressed that I ascended to my pinnacle without
any allies or aid. I even bragged to my brother about taking my own life at my
Lord's temple and destroying all my possessions at the 50th title. He follows
Lloth, so he doesn't understand the glory of beginning anew.

My event at the Inn draws near. I will host that and then decide where my home
should be. I could outlive Ymstrecca or join the Spire. Other than that, I
need new goals to seek and ways to continue to demonstrate my chosen sin. I
must become even more exceptional.

Shi'n-Ardul and a Sermon

Added Fri Jan 30 17:12:15 2026 at level 51:
When I chose my own surname to remove my ties to the Matron Mother, my
brothers were confused. Why choose a name that was more of an insult than an
honor?

Shi'n (Fool) and Ardul (Blessed).

By proclaiming myself to be a Blessed Fool - or, more generously - Foolish and
Blessed, I was claiming the title they had given me. Every attempt at glory I
made was called foolish and now, I've been blessed by my Lord. I'm sure the
others would accept being insulted if they were chosen as I was. But they do
not have the strength to choose for themselves first. They will never be
blessed as I am.

There are many in the lands that intrigue me. There are those of the flock -
Guinavieve, Gulguos, Daen, and Leorhauve. Jrolis counts, but she is too
impulsive for me to want to teach. The others may have promise, and I follow
their efforts. I have invited Guinavieve to speak after my sermon.

Then there are those not of the Church. How I adore Caserque. He has a rare
wit and charm that makes me wish I could talk to him for hours and then drag
him to the Church. Maybe I will. Kallara, the Mummy, is the last bastion of
the faith of the Scarab. We have had such insightful discussions on Will and
she alone has recognized my solo ascent with true respect. I feel a kinship
with her, even if she will not fight me. Rhaen, the Marshall, seems to think
he can convert me. We speak often, about many things. Would that the Chasm had
a leader who cared like he did. Scethe is a delight, and I cannot wait to
adventure with her. The Heralds do not know how lucky they are. Lastly, there
is Pippit. She is not wicked, but I've enjoyed all of our adventures. I named
her gill enhanced armadillo form the 'armagillo'

I will await the Chancellor's death. I refuse to be under her heel in any way
and would only join the Scions if I did not have to listen to her commands.
When she strikes at the Tree or Empire, I fight her. I have not killed her yet,
but I will. My goals continue to evolve. I will soon hold my sermon, tend to
the flock, recruit more devotees to the Church, and continue to grow in my own
faith. This should keep the loneliness at bay.
