Role
Welcome to Hamsah Mu'tazz
Added Fri Sep 13 11:35:12 2013 at level 1:
"The End is coming!" cried the soothsayer. The crowded streets of Hamsah
Mu'tazz roared loudly in the morn but somehow this old man's voice stuck out
sorely in Soviatos' ear. Soviatos stumbled out of the makeshift boat he had
"acquired" and watched it float down the Khalid River as he scanned his eyes
over the city. Reaching down to feel the ground, Soviatos picked up a small
handful of sand and nearly collapsed as the memories flooded his senses.
...hundreds of black boots. The cry of a phoenix amidst the drums of the
Empire, fading under the silence of night. The ruins of New Thalos erupted
upward, becoming a bustling city and then became unbuilt just as quickly...
the rocky wastes and dark woods swallowed civilization and began to recede
into ash and dust. Red lightning broke through the ground...
*BYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA*
The horns of prayer from the Temple brought Soviatos back to his senses. His
bottom lip bled - he had bit through again. He quickly patted down his
shambling robes... all there, least he wasn't robbed this time. Standing up,
he let out a quick sigh as he annoyingly came face to face with the
soothsayer who grabbed him by his shoulders.
"WE ARE ALL DOOMED! We're all going to die!" The frantic bloodshot eyes of
the old man shook as they stared deep into the eyes of Soviatos... and
something he saw caused him to recoil. His self-righteous condemnation turned
into the utmost fear as the man seemed to shrivel backwards. The street
smelled of piss and the man began to whimper before Soviatos.
Laughing it off with a quick dust of his shoulders, Soviatos reached down,
flashed a fiery grin and mockingly pet the old man on the head - who let out
a small yelp as he flinched.
"We're all dying, Thomas but at least I know where I'm going." With a skip
in his step, Soviatos made his way to the Temple for prayer.
Background, Goals & Mannerisms
Added Fri Sep 13 11:37:55 2013 at level 1:
*Soviatos was born and raised in Teth Azeleth with the "gift" - the ability
to see glimpses of the future or impromptu visions of warnings... nothing he
could ever control but proved both useful and a curse. His female superiors
wanted to use him for their own means, torturing him until they got the
answers they wanted but theres a problem with caging someone who can see the
future... he saw it years before and left at a young age, finding his way to
Cragstone and eventually out into the world as a teenager.
*The one vision Soviatos has never had is of his own death and it eats away
at him... to the point he is completely obsessed about his life after death.
Intent on guaranteeing this fate, every action makes him consider his future
"placement" and any decision is put to the test if it has a post-death
benefit.
*Trying to ensure that his death goes to plan, it's Soviatos' goal to keep
the world under control. Being close to the Empire allows him the freedom to
do what he wants... and keep at bay the apocalypse he knows the Scions will
never achieve. Redemption is laughable and impossible in his eyes, since a
vision is never wrong. You are predestined to your fate.
*Despite having a glimpse into his future, Soviatos is a energetic sociopath
- he's got a lot to do and a lot to learn before the final day. No point in
wasting it.
Open for Business

A pen and vellum contract floated in the air before Soviatos - with a quick
flourish, he signed his name. After slight nod from Reksah, Soviatos found
himself alone in the Underdark.
The deal had been struck and began the beginning to a fruitful business
relationship. It was a work of art how Reksah had revealed himself to
Soviatos, using some social finesse to help define Soviatos' place in the
world. The visions Soviatos experienced had defined parts of the future but
never his own... so when opportunity presented itself to work towards that
guarantee he seeks, Reksah suddenly had a new agent.
==First communication==
Subject: Choices everywhere
Good evening Lord Reksah - as I was sure would happen, joining the Empire was
overly easy. Israh took quite the liking to the fact that we shared a power
source of revelation and I had convinced them that I was a servant of the
Elder Devils. Nabarus I believe is the name he called upon, and originally I
had thought this would be my "choice" we discussed since it would build a
relationship with those temporarily in power but...
Seems Israh took their own life. A pity since I was working upon building a
trust there and frankly they'd be an easy replacement... keeping him in power
for the time being would have been easier. Calling upon Nabarus now might
prove detrimental because it seems Merf is frustrated with the late High
Priest. I look to fill this void quickly although I doubt I will hold the
position before Daltheis. More work to be done learning more of another now...
also building rapport with Finley - what an idiot...
More to come soon.

Fulfilling a Contract
Added Fri Sep 27 12:45:50 2013 at level 50:
The world had changed... the Nightmare had awoken among the Lost of Thera.
Soviatos had created a movement to awaken the Elder God and serve the
Nightmare of Other Worlds. Taking the last name of Aryl'Khur, Soviatos wished
to place himself among the chosen kings to flood the Gates of Silence to
awaken Amun'Khur!
... Well, least that's what the world thought. Despite a mocking letter sent
by a foolish bard, the attention to such dribble actually aided his cause
with attention. Twisting Soviatos' words for their own humor, they actually
helped him more.
Growing into his own in the Empire, Soviatos was seeking to grow in ranks
quickly - all in his way were temporary problems to be addressed. Mingling
himself into the minds of other Sects, it wouldn't be long before he rose to
the High Priest and beyond.
Beyond feeling alone among the ranks, Soviatos has begun to engineer an
interesting relationship with Pamalynn - a hated being by many, the day they
fell they all screamed for him to be stripped naked but Soviatos did the
opposite. Trust was important to build against such a worthy foe, trappings
of armament were temporary. Soviatos loathes the conjurer as they have proven
to be nothing but to be stalemates... something he's researching to try and
end.
It all was the beginning to something grand.
The Awakening
Added Tue Oct 8 20:04:22 2013 at level 51:
As Soviatos sat huddled in his imperial guild, he dismissed the guildmaster
so he could "meditate".... but what he really did was prepare for his
"awakening". To truly embrace his role as the herald to the coming Elder God,
he needed to play the part of a true High Priest. Shredding his robes,
tangling his once nicely combed hair, hunching over and feigning weakness,
Soviatos begun rehearsing his crucial part in returning true despair back to
the world of Thera.
As High Priest, it was important that he was not only feared for his
lethality but on his impact on the hearts and souls of the world. It was not
just him that you faced, it was the coming doom for all of man.
In his booming and prophetic tone, Soviatos roared at the mirror in the room.
"Am I not one of the Aryl'Khur! Am I not the Chosen to herald the awakening!
Has not the Nightmare of Other Worlds commanded that the YOUR SOUL will slam
into the Gates of Silence!" Getting louder and louder, he began to yell at
the top of his lungs "In the moment I rise, you will get a glimpse of my
radiance and then be annihilated as venom fills your body and in that
moment, HE WILL AWAKEN!"
Frantic with the outburst of noise, the guildmaster returned with a pair of
centurions. "High Priest, are you ok? Is everything alright?"
With his most devilish grin ever, Soviatos turned and became the madman.
"Forsake false hope for a better life, shaman, for I HAVE AWAKENED!"
Ayerth Aal Yrwairyth - "Soul of the Nightmare"
Added Wed Oct 16 19:54:47 2013 at level 51:
An attractive human woman, bearing ancient-looking heavy armor, silently
appeared and approached Soviatos directly. The surprise of her presence had
long faded but he smiled slightly as he saw her come into his peripheral
view. She asked in a soft uninstrusive voice "Prophet, do you want to return
to the place where silence rules?" With a heavy nod, Soviatos took the
blindfold and was led to Nyathl Ikalith.
In the last few years, Soviatos had taken his research, prompted by his Lord,
to the ultimate of depths in learning the ways of forbidden Silence. Each
clue presented another riddle, each step a calculated risk that sometimes
ended his life. More times than any mortal had taken from him, Soviatos had
fallen to Archmages and their traps... his life beginning to wane. With each
awakening moment, standing alone in the desert temple as his soul fought its
way back, his thoughts pulled inward. He was beginning to question the
purpose of this research, or the reasons he would doing this at all... and
most importantly, on how he had not used his "gift" in ages. The curse and
gift of revelation born to him, he had held back for he knew the path... or
did he?
Removing the blindfold, Soviatos stood before the fated Tower of the
Chronomancer. All of the Thirteen would not be unknown for much longer.
Reaching for the Gates of Silence, Soviatos hesitated.
"When the souls of the Lost come before the Gates of Silence in great enough
numbers as to break them down, Amun'Khur will rise."
Nazmorghuls' writings... could this be those Gates? Had this been the reason
his research had led him here? Grasping the Gates firmly in both hands,
Soviatos pulled upon the gift and tore from the sands of time a vision. He
opened his glazed colorless eyes and saw a reflection. Grasping the Gates of
Silence, it was him... but he was dead... no, he was alive! A cackling black
skull with two pins of bluish light for eyes stared back at him. The bones
twisted to return what looked like a knowing gaze of remembered pain.
Gasping for air, Soviatos released his grip and collapsed to his knees
shaking. Just like Coprophagous Sacer, or the infamous Istendil Val'Malach,
or the dark-elf Nastavnic named the Prophet of Nazmorghul in the Third Age...
or the nameless crazed elven cleric of Eil Shaeria. All of His passed over
life... Ikaal Alaath Yll... Forath Yreth... Nyryl would be his! His mind
flooded with the truth...
In utter silence, he mouthed the words to himself "Time will be my bridge...
and He knew!"
Sometimes the river changes course...but all lead to the same place - down.

The vote had finished... and yet again, the world had bet on the wrong horse.
Soviatos knew his time was limited in the Empire; what with the growing inner
circle of "Kite Flyers" he was not apart of and that it was never the place
of those with immortality to sit thrones, he had planned to step down in time
echoing the past of Istendil - as an Emperor though, it would have been much
more to his dramatic tastes. Gharzal would have jumped at the opportunity to
cast him personally from the army so Soviatos himself notified the Imperial
Prelate himself of his new place in life.
The fact that both the "Reaper" Gharzal and "Executioner" Ankhran had already
taken their life within days of his leaving only steeled his resolve that the
Empire was just a disease of weakness without him.
Of course on the homefront, this turn of events had proven problematic in his
marriage. It seemed Reksah had some grand "plan" in store for him still,
although their limited interaction gave little to any notion of exactly why
he was hiding out in the Empire under false cause. When Soviatos left, he had
tried explaining it was to the benefit of the Chasm a ghost town even weaker
than the Empire who lacked anyone of note, but Reksah seemed unmoved and
generally angry. The distant couple was on the rocks and it looked like
divorce in the future...
Nothing would stop Soviatos from reaching his vision, so perhaps distance
would make their contract "grow fonder" - in which Soviatos would actually
understand this cryptic god's wishes and would be seen as more than he was
currently "useless". Strange moods but Soviatos never really did understand
much in the way of relationships. Perhaps this time would show him a
vision... or another path.
But the end would be the same.
