Description
Before you is a fire giant towers over you, a living colossus of ash-gray skin
streaked with glowing veins of molten orange, pulsing like embers beneath a
kiln. Its massive, muscular frame radiates raw power, every movement
deliberate and charged with the promise of destruction. A mane of flickering
flames crowns its angular head, while furnace-like eyes burn with an intensity
that seems to pierce through everything they behold. Sharp cheekbones, a
broad, lattened nose, and a mouth lined with obsidian-like teeth give its face
a visage of imposing, rugged strength. Its enormous hands, tipped with claws
that gleam like molten steel, seem capable of shaping or shattering worlds, an
every step it takes leaves the ground scorched in its wake. The air shimmers
with unbearable heat, a searing reminder of the living inferno standing before

Role
The Emperors Chains
Added Mon Jan 6 23:09:13 2025 at level 36:
I grew up in the shadow of the Emperors coin. My parents werent just
merchants--they were his merchants, tasked with managing trade routes
and hoarding wealth in his name. Their loyalty to him was absolute, their
ambition unrelenting. At first, I thought their drive was something to
admire. But as the years passed, I saw what it cost them. Deals werent
just business -- they were wars fought with contracts and coins. My father
would crush rivals under debt; my mother would swindle farmers until they
could barely feed their families. They werent people anymore -- they were
tools of the Emperors greed. The breaking point came when they planned to
raise tariffs on a village already struggling to survive. "Its not
personal," my father said. "Its business." But it was personal to me.
I couldnt stand by while they drained the life out of people to fill the
Emperors coffers. When I confronted them, they dismissed me as a dreamer,
a fool who didnt understand the world. That night, I left. I walked out
on the wealth, the privilege, and the Empire. I swore Id never be like
them and that one day, Id make the Empire pay for what it had done to my
family.
The Spark Of Rebellion
Added Mon Jan 6 23:11:37 2025 at level 36:
The volcanic wastes became my sanctuary, a place as wild and untamed
as the rage burning inside me. I spent my days forging weapons and my
nights fueling the fire in my heart.I couldnt forget the looks on
their faces -- the cold, calculating indifference my parents had worn
as they sacrificed their morals to serve the Emperor. They werent just
pawns in his game; they were willing players. And I hated them for it
as much as I hated him.The stories I heard from travelers passing through
the wasteland only stoked my anger. They spoke of villages starving under
the Emperors taxes, of families ruined by the very system my parents
upheld. I knew then that my rebellion wouldnt end with leaving my family.
It would only end when the Empire itself was ash.
The Emperor's burn
Added Mon Jan 6 23:14:39 2025 at level 36:
My first strike was against one of my parents caravans. The goods
were marked with the Emperors seal, a symbol of everything I despised.
I attacked at dusk, fire and fury reducing the wagons to smoldering
rubble. The Empire took notice quickly. My father sent my brother to stop
me, thinking blood ties might hold me back. He was wrong. When we met on
the battlefield, he called me a traitor."No," I said, "Im the only one
who remembers what we used to stand for." We fought, and when the dust
settled, he lay at my feet, defeated but alive. "Go back," I told him,
"and tell them this is just the beginning." Now, I stand amidst the ruins
of an Imperial trade post, the flames reflecting in my eyes. My war against
the Empire has begun, and I wont stop until the Emperors greed burns as
brightly as the fires Ive unleashed. My parents made their choice, and now
Ive made mine. The Empire will fall, and Ill be the one to bring it down.
The Emperor's retribution
Added Sat Jan 11 13:33:07 2025 at level 38:
The first sign of my parents response was the bounty. It was posted
in every corner of the Empire, a proclamation in bold letters: Spitrog
the Traitor, Wanted Alive for Crimes Against the Emperor. Below the
words was a sum of gold so vast it could tempt even the most loyal friend
to turn on me.The bounty didnt surprise me. What did was the personal
message scrawled in my mothers handwriting on the back of one poster I
found: "Come home, Spitrog. Stop this madness. We can fix this --together".
I almost laughed when I read it. Fix what? The broken families? The ruined
villages? No, they werent interested in fixing anything except their
reputation with the Emperor. To them, I was nothing more than a loose end
-- a blemish on their perfect record of loyalty and greed.
A Family Divided
Added Sat Jan 11 13:37:42 2025 at level 38:
Weeks later, I faced them for the first time since I left. It wasnt
a heartfelt reunion; it was an ambush. They lured me in by spreading
word of a caravan filled with supplies for a starving village. When
I attacked, the wagons were empty. My parents stood waiting with a
squad of Imperial guards."Spitrog," my father said, stepping forward,
his voice heavy with forced authority. "This has to stop. The Emperors
patience wears thin." "Good," I growled, gripping my hammer. "Let it
wear through. Ill burn his Empire to the ground, starting with his
loyal dogs." "Youre our son," my mother pleaded, stepping closer.
"We only want to protect you." "Protect me?" I spat. "You want to save
yourselves. Your wealth, your status. Youre nothing but pawns to the
Emperors greed." My fathers face hardened. "If you wont come back
willingly, well bring you back by force."
The fight that followed was brutal. The guards were skilled, but they
werent prepared for the fury of a fire giant fueled by years of rage.
When the dust settled, my parents stood alone. They looked at me, their
expressions a mix of fear and despair."Youve chosen your path," my father
said finally. "Dont expect mercy when the Emperor comes for you." "I
dont need mercy," I replied. "But you should pray for it. Youll need it
when his greed consumes you too."
The Emperor's Move

The Emperor's Move
Word spread quickly after the ambush. My parents didnt just disown
me; they painted me as a monster. They told the Empire I was a savage
bent on chaos, twisting my rebellion into something dishonorable. But
their lies couldnt erase the truth. Villages Id helped began to rise
up, inspired by my defiance. My war wasnt just mine anymoreit was
spreading. The Emperors grip on his lands began to slip, and my parents
found themselves caught in the middle.Their wealth and loyalty couldnt
shield them from the rebellion growing around them. The Empire turned on
them, demanding greater sacrifices to fund its war efforts. The very
system they had upheld for so long began to devour them, just as I had
warned. As for me, I pressed forward, knowing that every step I took brought
me closer to the Emperors throneand the reckoning that awaited. My
parents had chosen their side. Now, they would see what loyalty to greed truly cost.
Pledges and Shadows

In my pursuit of allies, I found myself first drawn to the Outlanders of
Thar-Eris. Their cause mirrored my owna hatred for the chains of civilization
and the blight of greed that had consumed my family. They fought with the
ferocity of beasts, their ranks composed of wildmen, barbarians, and cunning
tricksters, all united against the scourge of empires. I thought I could find
a home among them, a shared purpose.It wasnt hard to find their hidden camp;
the whispers of their scouts and the deliberate signs they left in the wild
seemed to guide me. When I stood before the Nightreaver, their imposing leader,
I felt a flicker of hope. Here was a warrior who
who could lead a rebellion against the Empires
"You come seeking our strength," he said, his voice as sharp as the axes strapped
to his belt. "Yet why should we trust a child of fire? Your kind are bound to the
Empires forges, their greed coursing through your veins."
"I have no love for the Empire," I said, forcing calm into my voice. "They consumed
my family with their greed. I will see them burned to ash, and I thought you would
share that purpose."
The Nightreaver tilted his head, studying me. "Words mean little. If you wish to walk
among us, you must prove yourself. Go. Bring me the head of the Empires inner council
who plagues these woods, and we will speak again."
The task wasnt what bothered me -- it was their tone, their dismissal. I broke into the
palace and killed the blademaster, delivering his bloodied helm as requested. Yet even
then, the Outlanders held me at arms length. They fed me scraps of respect, their trust
as slow as sap to form.Days turned to weeks, and still, they kept me on the outskirts
of their council, treating me as an outsider. They fought their battles as if I were not
there, and my anger simmered beneath the surface.I left without fanfare, my pledge revoked
as I stepped into the night. Their purpose was noble, but their arrogance and mistrust
would not help me topple the Empire. It was then I remembered the Scions of the Eternal Night.
I had avoided them for as long as I could. To seek them out was to court disaster, to risk
my soul for the sake of their forbidden power. But as the Outlanders rejection gnawed at me,
I realized I had little choice.Their sanctuary was hidden, shrouded in spells and shadows,
but whispers on the wind led me to an ancient ruin far from the Outlanders forest.
A cloaked figure awaited me at the gate, his voice a chilling whisper. You seek the Scions,--
he said, his face obscured beneath a hood. "Few come here willingly. Why do you?"
Pledges and Shadows Part 2

"The Outlanders wasted my time," I growled. "I want to destroy the Empire and the light, and
I need strong ones to fight armies who wont hesitate, who will fight with every tool at their
disposal." The figure studied me for a long moment before nodding. "Come. The Advisor will
judge your worth." Inside, the ruins were dark and foreboding, the air thick with the scent of
burning incense. I was led to a chamber where the Advisor waited-- a dark figure whose eyes glowed
faintly in the dim light. His voice was smooth, each word laced with menace and intrigue.
"So, the fire giant spurned by the Outlanders seeks our aid," he said, a faint smile curling
his lips. "You must understand, we are not so quick to grant trust either. But we do not squander
potential. If you can endure our trials, you may yet find your place among us."
"What trials?" I asked. The Advisors smile widened. "You will see. First, you must prove your
resolve. We do not suffer weakness here. If you wish to destroy the Empire and the Light, you must
embrace the darkness and wield it as your own. Are you prepared for that?" I didnt answer
immediately. The shadows seemed to press closer, as if testing my resolve. Finally, I said,
"I am prepared to do whatever it takes to see the weak in Thera destroyed" "Good," the Advisor
said. "Then let us begin."
The path I had chosen was fraught with danger, but it was mine to walk. The Outlanders had their
chance, and they had failed me. Now, I would see what power the Scions of the Eternal Night could
offer --- and what it would cost.
