Description
A pale blue giant is before you, clean shaven and tailored. Although somewhat
of a disarray, his assortment of protective clothing is well cared for and
oiled. Dark blue hair is pulled tightly into a warriors knot that sits near
the back of his crown. His skin appears thick with ware and sun, speaking of
days training outdoor. His gray eyes sit deeply underneath his furrowed brow,
giving him the presence of determination.
Role
Indifference and my own reflection
Added Mon May 4 03:19:06 2009 at level 46:
I encountered Throk upon the eastern, not far from his own hut. The
encounter was brief and he was forced to retreat back to the village.
Giving chase I was halted before their guardian giant and seeing that
Throk had no intention to leave the Destructor's side any time soon I
left.
When I reached the ruins outside, I then noticed Eldarwen who appeared to
be preparing for a brawl. At this point I had not realized he must also
seek Throk's blood. It was then, that Eldarwen moved onto the perimiter
of the village and raised his own blades against the massive giant.
In my presumption, I felt I could not halt his own blades, but I did not
give him the choice. I did not request him to stand down and instead, by
my own indifference, allowed the massive giant to be slain. Even if I
had not raised my own shield, it is my point of view that I may as well
have by having done nothing at all.
After the massive giant had been laid to rest, I did follow Eldarwen into
the village proper and we struck together. My justification from this
point on was that we now faced Throk and the Destructor, even if we
wished no harm to befall the Destructor. Eldarwen, forced to retreat
himself, allowed me to make the final pursuit. To which, I fell before
the weapons of Throk and the Destructor together.
I fear that I have shamed myself and my own intent by these actions,
however, I will only allow them to help my growth. Honestly feeling that
I have learned from this past experience, the actions will not be
repeated.
The path of Purity
Added Sat May 2 18:36:27 2009 at level 44:
Purity. The simplicity of the word is as beautiful as it is deadly.
Within Taeranduu, it is two-fold. The easiest way to describe this
meaning is that one must begin the hunt amid the virtue as well as see
the hunt through without deterring from the path of Purity. To not
embrace this facet or otherwise cast it aside during the hunt is a
failure to uphold thy faith in Lady Baerinika. As such, it is to fall
from Purity and her favor.
One must first identify with the influences of the wicked as they are
often shrouded behind seemingly innocent emotions. Two such emotions
that Taeranduu always discusses with those seeking the Halls of the
Fortress are the emotions of Vengeance and Pride. Vengeance has
altogether been cast aside from Taeranduu, tempered by the desire to live
up to his brother's standard and fortified by holy Baerinika's
own words. Different and perhaps difficult for many are the feelings of
pride. One may embrace the sense of accomplishment if the cause
outweighs the personal desire, but when personal desires and personal
accomplishments supersede the duties and necessities one has placed
before them... they have become prideful and blinded by this attribute.
Taeranduu has always and will always hold these ideals within his spirit.
They are the drive behind his courage within the battlefields of life,
whether raising his shield in the name of the Jaguar, standing for his
belief's in the face of challenge, or shouting words of faith to inspire
those for the Light. Above all else, weaponry, wealth or any material
accomplishments, Purity of spirit and conviction will remain in the face
of Darkness. When lesser minds and spirits may fall victim to the
shadow's influence and persuasion,
Taeranduu Khrake'aryth of clan Stormcrest will not falter, will not lose
Faith and his courage to stand against the darkness will remain steadfast
in Baerinika's name.
He holds this belief that following this path of Purity will one day earn
the responsibilities and honor of becoming a Maran within the halls of
the Fortress.
Tools of the Darkness: Vengeance
Added Sat Apr 25 18:45:26 2009 at level 37:
Vengeance. Could there be such a thing as righteous vengeance? Not in my
faith and pursuit of Purity, for one must show great fortitude against the
claws of darkness. This vengeance is but only another weapon of their
pestilence which may remain subtle to some, but not Taeranduu.
He has already witnessed the touch of vengeance within the voice of Zaknifel
in the elf's quest for Khurahl's blood. His vengeful quest took precedence
over Taeranduu's honor and request to not interfere. As such, the Purity of
the hunt was tainted for this Storm kin and he would have no hand in a
crusade tainted by vengeance.
These are the tenets that must be acknowledged and held fast, for Purity and
Light, in Baerinika's name.
Redemption's Evolution
Added Thu Apr 23 15:45:03 2009 at level 36:
What once was a quest for redemption has long evolved into something
more. Ever since his prayers of divinity were answered by the Goddess
Baerinika, Taeranduu Khrake'aryth has become enlightened upon that facet
of the battlefield. To this Storm kin, Redemption would now imply that
the ideals of purity have been lost and must be regained. While as long
as Taeranduu has strength to raise his shield against the wicked he shall
always strive to keep what is Pure and holy under the light, pure and
holy.
Proudly, he would wear the name of his clan as his brother's legacy burns
with every swing of his shield arm and the grace of Lady Baerinika guides
his blade. As he faces the battlfields alongside his comrades of war
within the Fortress, Taeranduu desires to be a shining example of the
courage and prowess bestowed upon the spirit of the Jaguar in Baerinika's
name. He has known no greater sense of warmth and duty with each prayer
to his lady and the strength of her name that fills his heart.
The pursuit of Purity
Added Mon Apr 13 04:09:25 2009 at level 21:
More years, long years, passed since the departure from his village home
and not a day goes by without the memories of his brother and the purpose
for which he left. Even now before fully waking and leaving his guild
quarters, the shield of his brother remains secure within his possessions.
The emblem of a stormy cloud divided by bolts of lightning and painted
to emulate the crest of an equally stormy sea was reminder enough. When
he had redeemed himself, by forfilling a life dedicated to the guild of
paladins and fighting against the darkness of Thera could he wear his
brother's shield proudly.
For the Light, for his brother Raimous, and for Clan Stormcrest.
Through Purity may Taeranduu Khrake'aryth find the holy blessings of Lady
Baerinika in his crusade.
The Blood revealed
Added Sun Apr 12 20:41:30 2009 at level 18:
The blood was all over my hands, my body, the ground... I couldn't find my
footing and I was kneeling again. My own reflection haunting me within the
crimson puddle, but it wasn't my own. It was my brother's face, as if
trapped lifeless beyond this pool of blood. I was drowning now, the blood
caught in my throat; I was trying to clear it, to somehow force the air from
my lungs, my now burning lungs...
*****
I tore the covers from my bed, stifling my nightmarish dream as I jumped to
my feet. Pounding the bed post with my fist, I allowed myself to feel mocked
by the moon's illumination pouring through my open window. I must not have
been asleep for long... perhaps it was two or three in the morning now. I
wiped the slow forming tears away from my eyes before they had a chance to
betray my own sense of composure. The moon seemed to mock me yet again as I
looked across the room to where my brother's shield now hung upon the wall.
"When the sky bleeds from sun to sea, a path replaced will have to be. How
this giant will come to see, can only be told by his decree." The rasping
voice of the hag echoed within my head.
Glaring at the moon and her serene illumination I made my decision. It had
been only three years since my brother was killed and it should have been me.
I can't remain here, allowing my family's name to tarnish with time...
****
As gingerly as possible, Taeranduu unfastened the shield from the wall and
strapped it to his arm. He bid no farewells and simply left to cross the
waves of the Aryth Ocean that night...
An Excursion of Blood
Added Sat Apr 11 04:05:35 2009 at level 16:
Taeranduu and Raimous were to enter their first years of training after
the summer upon the first high tides of fall. Combat was nothing
abnormal for their clan, Clan Stormcrest, and it remained a way of
exuding honor and strength within their families. Even with the
excitement for "coming-in-age", these brothers were reluctant to leave
their final summer behind.
With that in mind, they left early one morning to traverse the stretch of
Aryth Ocean. Once they had the torch lights of Hamsah Mu'Tazz and it's
dockyard in sight, they only swam harder. Their sojourn wasn't without
complete purpose and they soon found their way along the many docks until
they stood within the vendor halls.
The old hag of a soothsayer and self proclaimed fortune teller was
sitting beyond her crystal ball, staring as if she could see from two
milky white orbs. The pupils had most likely vanished years ago before
old age reclaimed her sight. Her rasp of a greetings was more
contemplative than welcoming, "Giants of kin... yet more than that. Why
am I favored with two giants from the same womb tonight?"
Raimous grinned and said, "Khrake'aryth brothers needs fortunes!"
Individually they spoke with the soothsayer hag, and left that night
vowing to keep their fortunes secret.
