Description

Easily topping thirteen feet, this blue skinned giant is well muscled but not overly so. He might almost be considered thin for his kind. His head is mostly shaven with just the beginnings of what will one day likely be a top knot. He wears mostly lighter clothing, robes and leathers. The front of his robe is open showing a hairless chest. It looks as though runes have been carved directly into his skin. Most of them old and likely of some lost language. His eyes are a very light blue, the color the clouds after a storm. Looking more closely you can see that......

Storms in the beginning

Taesnir was born during the height of a raging hurricane.  His people fled the
sea that day, into the mountains.  Fearful of the damaging storm.  His cries
could be heard above the wind and rain, strong an powerful.  They fled, up
into the mountains to the east of the Aryth Ocean.

It wasn't long before the rag-tag band of giant, beaten and bruised from the
storms were set upon my a marauding group of fire giants.  Taesnir's parents
fought with every remaining ounce of courage. Putting down a dozen or more of
the Fire Giants between them. But the band was too many.  With her final
strength, Taesnir's mother smeared some of her own blood on him, and lay down,
covering her babe.

The Fire Giants, standing over the corpses of friend and foe alike were not
nearly sated. They began hacking at the corpses with abandon.  The winds began
picking up then, and the sky flashed with lightning.  Up the steep slope came
a wild cry, followed by a chorus of shouts.  Lighting started falling then.
Striking with purpose.  The fire giants were disoriented, sound and light,
blood and fury.  Down the mountain rushed a group of savage Storm Giants.
Rushing the remaining group, they made quick work of them. Walking with
purpose one giant strode down after all the others who had rushed down the
mountainside. Walking with dark blue robes, he had a shaven head, save for a
long topknot.  Walking through the desolation he stopped suddenly when he
heard the babe gurgle.

Moving over, he reverently moved the woman away, and lifted up the babe.

"Lynstroam FOALRDT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" He shouted raising the babe above his head.

The Tempest Within

The storm came without warning.

One moment, the sky above the Mountains was a tapestry of gray silk; the next,
it was torn apart by jagged bolts of lightning and the roar of thunder that
shook the mountains with every crash. Taesnir stood alone atop the highest
peak, arms outstretched, welcoming the fury. He had always felt close to the
storms, but this one was different. It was not a storm of nature alone. It was
a storm of revelation.

As the winds howled and rain lashed his blue skin, he felt the veil between
worlds begin to thin. The air shimmered with unseen energy. Then came the
bolt. It struck him squarely in the chest, a lance of divine fire that should
have ended his life. But instead of death, he was plunged into vision.

The Dream

He woke, or rather thought he did, in a place unlike any he had known. A grove
of dark green trees, their bark tough and textured, surrounded him. The air
was thick with the scent of the forest. And in the center stood a figure
cloaked in mist and shadow: Ergush, feline countenance looking upon Taesnir
with judgment and perhaps a bit of curiosity.

Ergush did not speak in words. Instead, the grove itself whispered truths into
the Taesnir's mind:
- "The First Law: The strong survive."
- "Second Law: All living things are free"
These are the first, there are more, but show live these the simple laws
first.

Visions flooded his senses: civilizations crumbling into fertile
soil,lightning striking down great walls making room for new growth. Taesnir
saw himself not as a warrior, but as a vessel, an agent of nature's cycle.
Taking steps on the path that would bring him closer to where he was needed
most.

The Waking

When he awoke atop the mountain, the storm had passed. The sky was clear, and
the air was still. But he was changed. Gone was the simple reverence for the
storm. In its place was a deeper understanding, that the forces he had sought
were not wild and aimless, but sacred tools of transformation.

Taesnir reached down then, finding a small piece of stone. He carved a symbol
of Ergush into his flesh with a shard of obsidian, marking his devotion not
just in spirit, but in blood.

From that day forward, he walked not as a Storm Giant alone, but as a one of
the Great Haruspex. He spoke to the winds and listened to the life and death
beneath the soil. Seeking to find himself closer to the Great One.

Beyond a calling

As he made his way down the mountain, Taesnir thought of his vision, of the
meanings in it. It wasn't until he came close to his home that his senses came
back to him.  First it was the smell.

Smoke. But with something else, a smell that shouldn't be there....

Then sound.  It was quiet.  Too quiet.  There should be birds, insects, the
rustle of leaves and trees swaying.  But there was none.  It was quiet, the
quiet of death.

His pace quickened then, moving into a trot, he closed on his home.  His
father, or rather the man who had been his father, lay in the middle of a
large circle of runes. Covered in cuts, and blood.  Around the glade, there
were bodies.  Many of them, of various races.  Some Drow, some dark dwarves,
and more than a few humans.  All of them different save two things.  Most of
them wore the tabard of the Empire.  A golden Codex emblazoned upon the front
and back.

As Taesnir reached the circle he brushed the edge, smudging the rune and
dispersing its energy.  He moved to his father and took his head into his lap
as he sat next to him.  He cried then, something he'd rarely done before.
Time slowed but did not stop. Looking up, Taesnir saw a stag at the edge of
the clearing.  It huffed and pawed at the ground.  White as snow, its coat
seemed to almost glow.  Taesnir put his father down, and moved towards the
stag.  Huffing loudly with one more paw at the ground the stag turned and
bound off into the trees.

Taesnir followed.  His feet having energy that he did not understand he had.
They ran down the mountains out into the ocean and north.  Far to the north.
Past a sea town, north...

Up past two large keeps... North.

Then, they came to a stop under the largest tree that Taesnir had ever seen.
The stag moved up a ramp, waling up into the tree, Taesnir followed.  There
standing regally, was a centaur.  A hunter, by her looks.  The stag made as to
bow to her, then spun quickly, looking at Taesnir with a knowledge it could
not possible have possessed, it leapt into the air, and... vanished.  Leaving
Taesnir standing with the Huntress. She looked at him and, with a nod said...

"Welcome..."
