story and background.

As a storm giant, Tairneach was brought up in a rural village that lived on
a lake deep in the mountains to the far north, further than the Fortress of
Light. His village had lived there so long that they no longer knew the 
proper name of the place. His village believed in that all children were to
proper name of the place. His village believed in that all children were to
be raised by everyone in the village, raised until a certain age when they
would then be picked by elders of a Guild to apprentice to and eventually
become masters of. It was at this age that Tairneach truly started on his
path, he, among the other youths of the village, stood in a line waiting to
be chosen. Other youths were being picked left and right for different things
the Warrior Guild, the Ranger Guild, so on and so forth. Even a wandering 
Paladin took part in the ritual after sensing strength in one of the youths.
Just when he thought he wouldn't be chosen, the Shaman of the village, 
covered heavily in armor, walked into the open space that they had chosen
for this ritual. He was heavily tattooed over his arms and face, making him
fiercer than one thought was possible. The hilt of a massive sword peeked
over his shoulder and Tairneach could do nothing but gape at the storm giant. 
The Shaman then looked the lad over, walking around him silently before 
coming to the front of Tairneach once more. Laying a hand on Tairneach's 
head theShaman closed his eyes and hummed slightly taking in the measure 
of the lad. Finding whatever he found, to be satisfactory the Shaman smiled 
which due to the tattoos seemed a frightening thing but Tairneach could sense 
no evil or malice in the other giant and so wasn't afraid. Crouching down slightly
to put himself on eye level with Tairneach the Shaman then asked him "Would
you like to train under me boy? Learn the ways of the Shaman? I can tell that
there is much strength in you." Blinking, Tairneach looked around and saw all
the other youths standing with their chosen GuildMasters. Looking back at
the Shaman he peered at him for a moment then said "If I'm strong as you 
be saying...why choose me over the one the Paladin picked eh?" A collective
gasp went up from the crowd as no one could recall a youth questioning the
one who picked them. The Shaman only grinned and laughed saying "Boy,
that's what I'm talking about, you got a fighting spirit in you that I didn't sense
in any of the others. As a Shaman you'll be fighting on the front lines constantly
and won't be hanging back to heal others or protect others as Paladins do.

Your spirit is the strongest out of all the youths that I looked at, and you'll need
a strong spirit for what we do lad." After hearing this reasoning, Tairneach took
a moment to ponder then nodded looking at the Shaman very serious like saying
"Aye then, I'll be doing what tis necessary to become a Master of the Shaman
Guild." The crowd collectively released a small sigh seeing that they'd be no
more confrontation about the choosing. Chuckling the Shaman put a hand on
Tairneach's shoulder and started walking leading them away from the village
saying "Lad, I think we'll be getting along just fine, got a feeling you'll be a quick
learner as well." With that Tairneach left his village and his playful youth behind.

Two years had passed since being chosen by the Shaman to follow in his foot steps
and Tairneach had progressed at a rapid pace and learned much within that time.
He was itching to go out and try what his Teacher had taught him, but his Teacher
constantly reminded him that he wasn't ready to go out and fight against the tide
of evil just yet. One day, a rare day of rest that his Teacher gave him, Tairneach
decided to go ahead and try out his new strength against an evil. Any evil he wasn't
particular as to what type of evil it was. He figured he'd go out, slay something and
more than he could chew when he ran across a massive taglo. Even while doing the
training his Teacher taught him he was fighting a losing battle. Right before he thought
that he would be slain, out of nowhere his Teacher summons him to a place of safety.
The Teacher shakes his head slightly and goes off, finishing the taglo quickly. Coming
back he gives Tairneach a stern look pondering for a moment. Before his Teacher
can even say anything Tairneach lowers his head with shame and mutters out a 
deeply sincere apology. Looking back up at his Teacher, his Teacher smiles and
beckons him to follow as he turns to walk off. Scrambling to his feet Tairneach quickly
followed after him.

Ten years later, after the taglo incident, Tairneach finished his day of meditation and
weapons training by picking up a rain barrel and dumping it over himself, the cool
mountain water refreshing him almost instantly. His Teacher popped his head out the
door of their house and beckoned his student inside. Tairneach obliged and sat down
in chair prepared for him, by the fire. Teacher came out from a room with a few bundles
setting them down on the table he goes through each item showing them to Tairneach,
it was his own set of Shaman gear, made by Teacher himself. Before Tairneach could
say anything Teacher grinned and shook his head saying "Be silent boy, I know how
much this means to you, we've lived together for quite a while now, I know you. There
is more however." Chuckling Teacher brought out a small needle and a bowl of dark
blue ink saying "This is your first tattoo, it shall be placed on the skin above your heart
to remind you of where you should always keep our profession, and where you should
always seek to find your strength." That said Tairneach nodded and took his shirt off
calmly and without a sound accepting, absorbing the pain of the tattoo. Once it was
done he looked down at it best as he can and smiled saying "Thank you Teacher, I
am honored." Teacher smiled and said "You've more than earned it lad, and with that
tattoo you're free to do as you wish, you've still a long way to go before you become
a master of our guild but I've taught you all that I can, it's time to go out and learn for
yourself what it means to be a Shaman. You can take a few days to prepare, then you
must go, you must also choose a God or Goddess to worship by then, it'll be no good
to be an instrument of destruction with no God to bring down their wrath upon the
wicked." Nodding Tairneach stood up and immediately started packing things for his 
trip away from the second home he ever knew.

Four days later Tairneach set his feet upon his path of destiny with a pack on his back
and wearing his new gear. Taking a deep breath of his home he took one last look
toward his home and mentor who had been like a father, brother, and friend to him.
Waving goodbye he turned facing the path once more, taking the first step he could
feel a tingle run through his body as if it knew what his brain did not, that he was one
step closer to becoming a master of his guild. After several hours of walking down
the path towards the foothills of the mountains he sits for a rest and takes a scroll out
of his pack that he brought with him that had notes upon the different Gods and 
Goddesses of Thera that would be the best ones for him to follow. It wouldn't do to 
arrive in the city without knowing who his Lord or Lady shall be. After pondering his
notes and hours of meditation, he finally decided upon a Goddess who he felt has
his own kindred spirit. Looking at where his finger lay upon the scroll and the tingle
he felt in his body, he knew it to be the right choice. The Jaguar...Lady Baerinika,
Combat aspect of her being his choice as well, it called to his spirit and made it
sing like no other aspect he had come across. That settled he rests for the night and
awakens the next morning traveling down the path once more finally getting out of
the mountains. It had been a little bit longer journey to the city than he expected but
he knew he was close. It was close to the end of his second day of traveling but he
saw the lights of Galadon and trudged on finally arriving, stepping foot inside the
North Gate of the city. After seeking out the Shaman guild he read in the local 
Academy about a place that sought out to do what he wished to do as well. To beat
back the tide of Shadows and Evil, letting the Light of Thera shine forth. Not only
would this aid him in his quest to fight against the tide of evil but it'd allow him to
protect those who couldn't protect themselves against such beings. He knew then
that he had to seek out this Fortress of Light and become a member of the Maran
Brigade as soon as he could.

Tairneach was brought up as a child in a mountain lake village before being taken
away for training by the local Shaman. Had a near death encounter with a taglo
before his teacher came and saved him at the last moment. He finished up his 
training with his teacher and then on his jounery out of the mountains decided upon
Sphere Combat, worshipping Baerinika. Arrived in Galadon the next day. After 
reading about Fortress of Light decided to become a member of the Maran
Brigade.

After reaching the rank within his guild that required him to seek
out his Lady, he did so with some apprehension as he had never spoken
with a Goddess before. After meeting her he was given some of her
blessing to use his prayers but not at all as he was to find out
later. Tairneach didn't know it at the time however, but the Lady
placed a task upon him to find out what Her tenets mean to Her and
what they mean to him as well. Also to explain how She is different
from Whiysdan, Scarabaeus, Akresius, and Ysaloerye. With that task
placed upon him, also knowing that he shouldn't return to her or
approach the Fortress without being bloodied, he set out to get
these things done. After much reflection he finally understood what
She wanted from him about her tenets and the other Gods of Thera.
He knew now that the purity of combat is combat itself, and that
one cannot obtain this purity without the courage to do so. It
meant that while he followed the path of Combat of Lady Baerinika,
Tairneach actually drew his strength of faith from all three aspects
of Her. Once he had this figured out he knew it was time to get
himself bloodied in Combat. He already had several clashes with those
from the Empire but had never managed to get them to stick around so
they could die by his hand. Tairneach was determined however,
he traveled the lands looking for Neele, a dark knight of the Empire,
Foratha, a drow, and Tiuyen another dark knight. Tairneach had a
few run ins with Neele but she managed to escape him then he was
finally able to track down Tiuyen and managed to strike the wicked
knight down. With both tasks now completed he has decided to restrict
himself in gaining until he can speak with Lady Baerinika again,
and gain acceptance as a Squire into the Holy Brigade of the Fortress.

Has now met with Lady Baerinika, got some of his prayers unlocked
but not all. Was tasked with becoming bloodied in battle and to
reflect on Her tenets and figure out how she's different from some
of the other Gods. Figured out the tenets and differences and got
a kill on a wicked being. Now seeks out entrance into the Holy
Brigade and Lady Baerinika for more of her blessing. 

Having spoken with Lady Baerinika once more he explained what he
believed to be the differences between Her and the other Gods She
asked Tairneach to find out about. That done they spoke some more
and she tasked him with something else. To find out how he plans
to work purity into his life. Tairneach was soon accepted into the
ranks of the Holy Brigade after their last conversation. While he
may only be a Squire at the moment he knows in his heart that he
will become a Maran soon enough.

Gained entrance into the Holy Brigade and has been tasked by
Baerinika to discover how Tairneach is going to implement purity
into his life. Became a Squire of the Brigade, on interesting
side note, Tairneach had a few words with Enlilth when the former
Shadow Lord, the one before Jekota, raided along with Cabakso an
elite Warlock for the Empire and an orc, to gain their Codex back
after Tairneach and Veneroth, another Squire, took it. 

After a few talks and more than few kills by Tairneach's hand, he did
one final thing. A response to a challenge where he had to pick a former
follower of Lady Baerinka. He chose Yevandyr, the first balance walker
to carry Lady Baerinika's mark. That done he spoke to his Lady once more
and towards the end of the conversation She said She believed him to be
ready to wear Her mark on his arm. She tattooed him and though it hurt
greatly, as if the Jaguar on his arm was clawing him itself because of
the paladin blood on his hands, he endured the pain. Now he believes
himself to be a true Priest of the Jaguar.

His brother in arms, Zeurane, bore a wanted mark for finishing off an
imperial, who had struck the Maran, in the protected city of Voralia.
Fzoarn, a Provincial Magistrate, and paladin of the Spire, went to stand
before the Fortress of Light. Where he said he would supposedly escort
Zeurane to the Captain of the Spire where his life would end. This did
not sit well with Tairneach as Zeurane was a good brother. So after hearing
that Fzoarn tried summoning Zeurane out of the Fortress, Tairneach went
out to confront Fzoarn to see why he sat there with no other purpose.
Upon finding out why Fzoarn was there Tairneach told him to leave, told
him several times to leave and warned Fzoarn that not to leave was foolish.
After Fzoarn insulted the Fortress, Tairneach warned him one last time
to leave and gave him a time limit. Once that time limit was reached Tairneach,
stupidly, withered the paladin. Fzoarn came back and struck Tairneach
in kind, Tairneach retreated, healed up then went back outside to confront
Fzoarn once more. Once again Fzoarn was insulting the Fortress and this
time he included Tairneach, which only further infuriated him. So once
again Tairneach warned him to leave several times. Warned him one last time
and then even more stupidly before, decided to rot the paladin. They fought
some more and Tairneach retreated once more to heal. Completely healed he
went out and faced Fzoarn once more, then Fzoarn only insulted Tairneach
but Tairneach knew the damage was done and there was no turning back. Fzoarn
could have survived the rot if he wanted to but he admitted to Tairneach that
he wanted to die from the rot so his blood would be on Tairneach's hands.
After insulting him more, finally Tairneach asked the disrespectful paladin
if he would admit to being warned several times of what would happen if
he didn't leave. Then without saying a word he struck Tairneach and Tairneach
retreated, then Fzoarn went off to die alone from the rot insulting Tairneach
again. However, Tairneach just ignored him as he should have in the beginning,
after the paladin died Tairneach did feel sorry about the whole thing and
after explaining what had happened to both the Marshall and Cardinal, he
was given a task to do to repent for what he did. He wrote a scroll to the
Fortress to admit to his wrongdoings, which was embarassing to him, and
at the same time to send the same scroll to Fzoarn. After that he had to
try and get others to at least treat Fzoarn with neutrality. However
not long after the incident, perhaps a week by the Gods' time, the paladin
took his own life. It is with regret that Tairneach learned of this as he
had hoped that him and the paladin could mend the rift that had appeared
between them.

Tairneach, after having a discussion with Baerinika knew he had to get
more wicked kills under his name. So that's what he did, however during
the middle of all that he had an incident with a paladin of the Spire that
went by the name of Fzoarn. The incident wasn't a pleasant one as it resulted
in the paladin's death by rot. Tairneach repented for what he did while
still feeling bad about what happened, not too long afterwards Fzoarn
deleted. Tairneach didn't like to hear this as he hoped to speak with
Fzoarn and mend the rift between them. Then after more wicked kills there's
a challenge issued by the Maran Mochodin. To research a former follower
of Baerinika and tell what you found. Tairneach ended up choosing Yevandyr
who was a svirfnebli and ended up becoming the Commander of Battle, as
well as the first neutral to get her tattoo. It was not long before Tairneach
sent the note that contained the information on Yevandyr that Baerinika
told him that they would talk more after his response to the challenge if
he chose to participate. So after his response he spoke with her once
more and obtained her tattoo.
