Description
There is a sense of calm and serenity that exudes from the pale face of this
woman. It is hard to discern if it is the lack of any noticeable flaws or
blemishes in her skin or an effect of her shining silver eyes which sparkle
like a star in the night. Her head is covered with long flowing golden hair
which reaches half way down her back, tied in a long ponytail, topped by a
golden crown. Her blonde eye brows, small nose and pale pink lips all serve
to add to the effect of the calming aura she gives off. Not a tall woman nor
a muscular one, but there is undeniable definition to her otherwise average
body.
As you look, her body seems to glow irregularly. A shimmering blue light
which is gone for a moment and then back only to soften again all in a
strange indiscernible pattern. Her arms are completely covered but a feint
blue glow comes out from where her sleeves meet her gloves. On her waist are
a variety of weapons, odds and ends. Never far from her hands is a shining
silver harmonica.
Role
The Tenth Chorus of the Orchestra of Tenyo
Added Fri Apr 15 08:26:32 2022 at level 6:
The Orchestra of Tenyo, thousands of holy beings working together in harmony
to create the music for the heavens. The Tenth Chorus was similar in make up
to the nine other choruses, a group of one hundred divine beings, singing as
one, chanting in a divine language, words not for the ears of mere mortals.
And then one day, while they sang their songs of love and health, a crack
was created by a powerful mage down on Thera. He may have been aiming for
the Orchestra, for the Chorus or maybe something completely altogether. But
it will forever remain a mystery as the spell he cast used up more energy
than he expected and he was left as just a pile of dust. His spell was a
success at least...
Takanani was a young girl, living with her family in Hamsah Mu'tazz. The
Jilasa family was made up of masons and merchants who dreamed of a better
life, in a safer, more peaceful world. They would pray to the Gods of the
Light to rid the world of evil and protect them from harm. The youngest in
the family, Takanani had little to look forward to in her future, she had
grown to hate those that kept her family living in fear. She wanted to
destroy the evil of the world herself, but she had no way to do so. Unknown
to any of them, they happened to be living next to a powerful conjurer...
It started with a crack, then another, and another. More and more cracks
formed and split the space around the Tenth Chorus. With a flash and a bang
they were forcefully tugged through to the realm below. And then with the
mage who created it dead, the portal was without a host to supply power. It
immediately began to collapse in on itself. With no time to think or plan,
the Chorus was drawn into the the nearest source of Light that they could
use to prevent the incoming destruction. A young girl who had been out to
the port was just returning home from a trip to the local port when her life
was changed forever. The Chorus used their new host as a channel for their
music, stopping the explosion of magic from doing anything more than
structural damage. The next thing Takanani remembered was waking up at home,
her parents crying, her uncle shouting about something, the smell of smoke
and sulfur in the air and a quiet but constant chanting in her head.
Life Changing and Paladin Training
Added Fri Apr 15 08:28:20 2022 at level 6:
Takanani excelled in her training as a Paladin. Well, the parts she could do
at least. The combat training, the lessons of defending the Light and
destroying the ever encroaching Darkness. Although she always had an odd
sense of joy when reading about those who had changed their ways from evil,
something she didn't believe was worth trying. It turned out that the
Paladins guild is always interested in recruiting those who have been
touched by the divine. While the chanting could be distracting it had just
become a regular part of life for her Takanani. What wasn't regular was her
inability to use the communes of the Gods of the Light that the guild was
trying to teach her. Whenever she tried her body would freeze up, the
chanting would grow quiet, her connection to the heavens felt more distant
than ever. She was beginning to lose hope in her chances.
One of her teachers suggested she try meditation, emptying her mind and
letting her body do as it will. She attempted it, after letting her mind
wander she started to feel lighter, like a weight had been lifted off her
shoulders. When she opened her eyes, she saw her teacher had been crying. He
asked where she had learned to sing like that. Confusion was her immediate
reaction but she quickly realized where the singing had come from. The
singing she had been hearing ever since that day, the music of the divine
that attached itself to her. That had marked her and changed her. She had
been out of beat with the chanting this entire time, working against the
source of her power, trying to work alone when they should have been a team.
Do Azures Dream of Archons Singing?
Added Fri Apr 15 08:30:29 2022 at level 6:
That night she had a dream, the first one she had had since the Chorus had
joined her. A radiant light shone from thousands of divine beings as they
preformed in sync, her own mouth was moving on its own as she stood in an
area that could easily have fit one hundred of them. The song rejuvenated
her body, made her feel more alive than she had ever before. Suddenly she
stood in darkness, there was nothing she could do to bring back the light.
The chanting in her head grew louder as she stood panicking in the dark. She
had no idea what she was doing but she tried to reach out for the chanting,
and it came to her as she called for it. The darkness surrounding her
disappeared in an instant.
In the Light she saw them, Archons. All around her there was Archons. And
they sang to her, a song in a language she could not understand, a song that
made her relaxed and calm. But they quickly made their displeasure at her
actions known. She had been using their power wrong. Their power was
strongest when used to heal and defend those that needed help. They were not
to trying to cause mass destruction. It was something they desperately
wanted to prevent. Takanani was conflicted, she needed their power to help
her create a safe world for her family but would it work if she did it their
way? She would go along with it for now but she going to need to figure out
what the right thing to do was. The very next day she left the Paladin
guild, at least the skills she had learned would still be valuable to those
she would now seek out to work with.
Deal with the Heavens
Added Tue May 17 15:15:25 2022 at level 41:
"You are so demanding!" Takanani shouted in frustration atop the Fortress as
she watched the snow fall around her. She knew full well that no one had
spoken to her or asked anything of her, but she could always hear them
singing, an endless song that said more than the words she wished for. They
had not appeared to her since she had made a deal with them, back before she
had even started on her journey as a bard. Back then, things were simple. The
images they had shown her were seared into her memory, an unforgettable
experience. They had shown their displeasure at her attempt at being a
paladin. They had shown her, well, herself. But looking older, braver, more
sure, standing tall as she glowed in a steady rhythm. That could be her, one
day. But by the lack of blades in her hands it was clear she would need to
approach it differently than she had been.
As she glanced down at the courtyard below, Takanani reflected on the
conditions for her current power. Images of the injuries and wounds, healed by
a song flashed across her mind. At the time it was hard to process it, but
with how long she has been working to repair damage like that, it no longer
caused a reaction. Healing others had just become automatic, it was a part of
who she was. Or was it who they were? Her sense of self was getting a bit
confused these days. The second condition, she hardly had to reflect on at
all. She was looking right at it. The Fortress of Light. Sure, Takanani hadn't
become an Acolyte quite yet but if the late Elder Prophet was to believed,
which she obviously was, then she was well on her way towards it. Maybe then
they would finally sync up properly. Looking up into the sky, as snow fell
down gently around her, she could see the last part of her arrangement. The
sun, half covered by a cloud, sat high in the sky, doing it's best to shine
down on the Fortress below.
She had met the sun now a couple of times. She was a Goddess, Azorinne. The
late Elder Prophet had followed Azorinne, had brought her to Azorinne's shrine
and given her Azorinne's book. The late Elder Prophet was never going to be
replaced in her heart. But Azorinne had earned a spot too. Takanani brushed
the snow off her face as she began to walk back into the Fortress. The Goddess
had helped her out at her lowest, after an Imperial had turned the holy voices
she instructed into a tool for darkness. She had tried to keep the child
asleep, but hadn't seen it wake up. Azorinne had told her the price, a life
for a life, it was a cost that Takanani was willing to pay. Her life for the
life she had taken, a lifetime spent working for the Light, in pursuit of
justice for the crime she herself had committed. It was a heavy cost but one
she knew she had to pay. Acolytes have to make sacrifices for others, and she
would sacrifice herself.
