Description

This saurian before you is a relic of forgotten ages, their hide a mosaic of deep, sunbaked greens and murky browns, thick and gnarled like ancient bark. Ridges of ossified bone protrude along their spine and limbs, forming natural, fearsome armor that speaks of savage skirmishes from countless scars. Foul viscera drips from serrated foreclaws, a startlingly stench rolling about from decades of enjoyed uncleanliness. With a broad and flattened snout, reminiscent of a primordial crocodile, lined with a disturbing array of broken teeth, honed to razor points from a lifetime of tearing flesh. But it's the eyes that truly captivate and terrify: a pair of piercing, cold blue orbs that glow with an unsettling intensity, like distant, frigid stars in a perpetual twilight. Every movement of this creature is deliberate and heavy, radiating a palpable sense of coiled power. There's no wasted motion, only a predatory grace that suggests a lifetime spent stalking and killing. Their gaze rarely lingers, instead sweeping over their surroundings with a chilling intensity, as if constantly assessing threats and opportunities for violence.... and from the many blood caked instruments they bare, they must enjoy displaying it. They carry themselves with a silent, almost mournful dignity, a testament to an existence steeped in the grim realities of survival.

Why hello friend, great to meet ya. Good day to you and isn't it a good day
indeed!

You're probably bored as all Gods are destined to become, thinking you'd
spice up that dreary endless existence by peeking behind the curtain at this
young cute saurian... and now you're wondering where the hell that voice is
coming from. Who is this and how are they doing this?! How dare they?!

Well I assure you, that time will come soon enough so just relax. That
rooster will cockadoodledo when he's good and ready but for now, let's not
break this special moment we're about to share. Don't ruin the surprise! I've
been waiting for this for a long long long long long lon-... oh you get the
idea. Now it's time to start the event so without further ado!

Welllllllcome to the life of Takoa! Dun dun dun! Cue the scary music!

In a world... in a dreary swamp.... on a bleak, blistering hot night... where
no one was looking...  there was a momma saurian...

Ok, ok, fine! Less dramatic, I get it. Takoa plopped into Thera, are you
happy?

Littlest runt of the smallest runt pile, this munchkin was cursed from the
start. I wasn't there of course so he had it preeeeety rough. No chance
really, I mean seriously he was one step away from dying every moment! Look
at all these negatives stacked up against him: born in backwater Y'sra
village to an uncultured saurian cult trying to survive in a still racist
world, to a family of sick wackos that love Death and Weh (or is it whey?).
Constantly starved, barely the size of a broken twig, and even then his
family would ... wait for it... EAT their kids for snacks. Saurians are
really disgusting when you think about it. You gotta admit that it would be
seriously fun to watch but damned if the dice didn't roll bad for him....
Until they didn't! What could have happened, what changed for our hero and
was he going to survive? What happened next?!

Well, we're just getting started buddy... we're just getting started.

Life always finds a Weh!... Wait wait, don't go, I promise I'll get to the
good stuff. Promise.

So there he was, alone and trying to cry while nibbling on a rock like all
dumb kids do. Starving so badly the tears wouldn't come while dreaming of
eating anything but the cold hard rock he sucked on. He didn't have the
slightest energy to move while his remaining brothers and sisters slowly
surrounded him, claws stretched and ready for dinner. They were going to eat
our little mini-Takoa who couldn't even move!

Just imagine it... brings a tear to my eye. Thera can be cruel, no? I blame
the mayor of Galadon. Sad times indeed.

BLAM! A giant explosion rocked that little pile of crap village to its core.
BLAM, another one. BLAM BLAM. It was utter chaos and pure drama! The little
gang of siblings ran in circles like headless cockroaches, no clue where to
hide. The horror! Then all of a sudden...

Without warning, a deafening crack split the air above as a massive blast of
icy magic erupted in the heart of the village. A blinding blue light
swallowed the sky, and a storm of frost exploded outward, tearing through
crude huts like paper and hurling splinters of wood into the howling winds.
The shockwave turned our little child gang into grotesque statues, woohoo!
All, save one. In the dead center of the carnage, untouched was little Takoa.

Cool huh? I'm really gifted as a storyteller - it's almost like we're there!

Who divinely smited this pure evil and rescued our dear Takoa? Out of the
woods, crunching over tiny saurian skulls came our shining savior... one
super scary looking dude.

Oh you want his name, do you? Just what did he look like? Hell, even I'm not
that stupid. You couldn't torture me to spill it because I don't want him
coming for me. That guy just freaks me out and gives me the willies. Let's
just say he's huge, he's badass, and it's usually the last thing anyone sees.
Yeesh!

Well Mister Walking Death kept crusading towards the temple when he briefly
stopped just above our little Takoa. Peering down, he correctly noticed that
the little rock he was chewing on wasn't exactly a rock. See, I lied.... it
was a symbol. Gotcha! Maybe you've seen it before if you're lucky. Well,
surprise surprise but Takoa just found one lying on the ground among these
trash lizard savages. Plot twist!

"EAT IT" boomed the gravely voice of Mr WD. Now, thankfully our Takoa was
dumb enough to not question the order to eat a solid stone symbol and started
chomping. Teeth broke and many shattered out like popcorn but the blood
helped that glorious goodie slide down.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's where I come in. You're welcome.

What a pickle we're in

Alright, I've blabbered enough. Maybe some day I'll write a book and spill
the details once we take over this mudball but needless to say... I decided
to bolster our little boy as you can very well see. He wins, I win, it's that
simple. Takoa became a full man that day and with it his appetite grew three
sizes. He's a big boy now!

You know and I know that Takoa is one bad cookie but he's got a gooey center
I bet, you could just ask. I never did because booooooooring, but you're
welcome to try. We talk all the time but it's usually a lot more simple - he
really isn't the brightest, you might just get his grunts but he's got
gumption. Sharper than he lets on.

Obviously I pointed him towards magic - numbnut would have probably died in
any other guild without my help. My favorite of dark, spooky magic was the
easiest for him to grasp and I dare say, he's got a knack for it. Fun times
ahead!

It's been a looooooooong time so I'm enjoying the ride. I usually force him
into a library and promise him a snack if he finds something neat for me. I
know he's going to need help so gotta try and force him to make friends while
the world isn't trying to murder us (how rude!). I hear some stupid groups
picked up my mantle while I've been away.... We'll see.

How'd I get out? Why was I there? Why Takoa and what did Scary Dude have to
do with all of this? Hell if I know. Jeeze, stop with the hundred questions!
Gotta leave you in suspense!

First plot twist

Wait, you're back? Really?

I mean, you gotta agree he's interesting right? Grab the popcorn because this
special kid is something and I do mean special. Heh, don't tell him that, he
won't get it.

We've really had a good time of it. He's usually good at doing what I say,
really focused you know? Practice this, work on this, do this, chase that...
I mean, it's my hide if he fails right? Just two buddies causing havoc and
exploring the wide world.

After toooo maaaaany endless days where I thought I'd die of boredom, low and
behold he starts to pick it up - Mister "I Eat Rocks" Takoa can actually
kill! When I first laid eyes on the pup and then watched him fail and fail, I
thought I'd have to really grab the reins but he's aaactually decent now. I
mean, not like the hunters back home, or my kind, or anyone I know, or really
anyone I remember but he's doing decent. Stupidly persistent! Collecting
souls as well! Making progress, making friends and all seems great right?

WRONG! We had this great plan - meet with Ziz, blow his socks off, and then
if he gave the thumbs up we'd buddy up for the Empire or the Chasm for some
action. I mean, they're both second-rate knockoffs to the Masters which, boy
oh boy, were they a blast.... The stories I could tell! Anyhoo, we start
working the Empire angle. Tako is a gifted killer, obedient as Hell, properly
trained, ready to say blabbity blah blah "My Life Boring". What could go
wrong?

Well for starters, no one wanted to give it! I might have rubbed off on him a
biiiiiit too much and thought at first it was me. The truth was Saurians
can't take the oath... stupid if ya ask me, these "all powerful" conquerors
can't sweet talk a lizard. So we approach the Empress, and boy is she
annoying with all the jiggles and giggles with exactly zero help! Next up we
approach this guy called Nycruvae... decent chum, speaks the language from
home, agrees to a contract, deal is done, aaaaaaand his magic sucks. I mean,
nice enough attempt, but seriously? What kinda self-respecting Imperial god
can't even give an oath! So we have to go back to paper and pen like
barbarian savages and write up some floofy note deal as a first step.

Throughout this time, we start to not trust them. You know? You get that
feeeeeling deep inside where you just don't like the situation. Saved my hide
a few times definitely and I was getting all kinda tingly. Maybe they were
planning on stealing me for themselves? First this whole strange request from
Nycruvae about answers from the Order of Ziz, then a few Imperials not really
being neighborly, start receiving flack for just asking about wands (this
damnable age, back in MY day we had real power)... and then the giant of all
kickers happened... just you wait for this whopper.

Time for some thoughts and prayers

There he is... dun dun dun! Destuvius in the flesh with his prized bozo
Korvasin. Perfect time to get this trial period done, start saying "Yes
Ma'am, Empress" and take over. So we walk right up ready to introduce
ourselves and the god threatens our lives for just walking up to him?! What?!

I've lived through hundreds of much bigger gods and I don't even get a hello?
Maybe a "Thanks little guy for keeping this lizard breathing long enough to
serve my Minipire despite getting diddily squat". Not even a second to let
Takoa sputter some wisdom and pay some respect but noooo... the second we
walk in, in his booming voice, "IF YOU VALUE YOUR SPIRIT YOU WILL LEAVE". We
didn't even get a moment before he treats us as slaves.

So it's time to have "the talk" about the relationship with Ms Giggles
Empress. Just ugh... gimme some damn specifics you know? If I know the oath
is going to rip me out of this body then tell us! What do you want, psycho?!
Be open, be honest, because I know exactly what happens when people start
hiding their cards. They cheat! We're no ones slave, not ever again! And
while we're talking, explaining slowly, trying to mend this budding
relationship.... it gets real. Real stupid that is.

A giant gauntlet flies out of the sky and smacks Takoa right in the face!
Slave abuse! Call the Tribunal because I was holding Takoa back from some
righteous fire. Ok, not really, he's not dumb enough to mock the sky. We may
be tiny but I know people! You can't treat me like this! Don't make me call
my Dad! The nerve on some beings, it's just not right y'know? Shoulda coulda
woulda, you missed an opportunity! Now we hear from someone we're marked for
death. Told ya the tingles in my knees are real! Those rat lying bastards had
it out for us the whole time.

During this whole drudgery for the "greater good" morons, the Chasm is
actually not bad. Leaderless, bit stranded without us but hot damn if they
aren't scary sometimes. That Vashaxa is certifiable - really he'd do
fantastic back home. I wonder if Mister Walking Death from before had a
lizard baby? There is also Bozphun who agrees that Ziz is awesome. Chasmites
are helpful, useful, and teaching Takoa all kinds of stuff. (Ok, I'll admit,
I don't know everything.... I was stuck in that swamp for too damn long ok?!)

So now what? Well, time to get back with Ziz and figure out what's what. Who
knows what's next... maybe we blow off both candles, light our own fire huh?
Those Hole munchkins could be reaaaaal useful though.

Well either way, we'll figure it out. One little step back but we'll get
there... We got big plans and big daddy Ziz is going to help us get there.
