Description
A tall, wiry arial glides gracefully along here. Standing around 6'6" tall,
he alternates between flying and walking, the epitomy of nonchalance.
Drab-gray clothing covers his body from head to toe. Even his wings have
been covered with a drab gray cloth, though occasionally one can catch a
quick glimpse of brightly colored feathers beneath his wings as he flies.
Role
Unfinished goals

Although he has accomplished much in his 56 years, there are a few goals he
has yet to achieve. The first being the honor of bearing the mark of
Neltouda. Although Tellik fulfilled his goal of adventuring into the inferno,
he is not satisfied with the extent of his explorations there, and still
craves to venture ever deeper and wider in the abysmal place. The final goal
that Tellik craves almost as much as his Lady's mark, is to find a way past
the wards of archmages which bar the way into the Silent Tower. This, in
Tellik's mind, would be the ultimate adventure any mortal could take while
their mortal life remains.
Reflecting on lessons of a long life
Added Sun May 10 00:01:43 2009 at level 51:
Little could Tellik or his juvenile, adoptive mother have known the fantastic
course Tellik's life would take. From starting as nothing more than a street
urchin, Tellik progressed to a highly versatile, trained thief, undisputed
Kingpin of the Galadon thieves' guild, a favored follower of the goddess of
storms and inspiration, and renowned explorer.
Over the course of his accomplished life, Tellik has come to value one area
of experience more than any other; his service to his goddess. Embarking on
the adventure of one of her crew began as a reckless pursuit, sparked by the
emotional high of finding a kindred spirit (albeit one much greater than
his). His grasp of the faith began as something very clumsy, like a child
swinging a stick he can barely lift. But as the years passed, experience has
taught him many lessons about inspiring others. Early in his life, Tellik
cared little for what people might think of him, and strove to inspire others
to action and adventure by blatantly robbing them, thereby driving them to
anger and vengeance, or greed for what they lost and adventure to replace it.
While this was the course he had planned to pursue for inspiring others,
along with tales of his adventures, over time he found that while inspiring
people in one way, it hindered him from inspiring them in other ways as well.
People who were angry with him for his thefts would refuse to go with him to
the places of legend and myth, the truly grand adventures. While robbing them
would drive them to adventure into less legendary places to replace what they
lost, it would never be able to lead them into the places that make for the
most inspiring tales. So with this lesson learned, Tellik backed off on
waylaying his marks, and took to robbing them silently, while being friendly
to them and using that friendship to stir their hearts for adventuring into
places like the Octagonal Tower, the Tower of Trothon, and into the depths of
Hell itself! Always being one to hold a grudge until it's repaid, Tellik
passionately sought to repay Iktul for a betrayal of loyalty when Tellik was
young. Having amassed a fortune from his travels, and observing how strong
the power of greed was to inspire a myriad of emotions in othres, Tellik
applied the power of greed to the members of the galadon thief guild, paying
for their elite status in the guild and inspiring loyalty in them. Having
been betrayed by Iktul long ago, and knowing the direction it pushed him in,
Tellik chose to reward his supporters handsomely, both materially and also
through verbal encouragement and compliments. The result was a bulwark of
defense against the threats and lies of Iktul as Tellik challenged him for
the position of Kingpin. It was a lesson well learned, and well applied as
evidenced by Iktul's defeat, and Tellik's unchallenged second term as
summed up in the old addage, "You can catch more flies with honey than with
vinegar."
Charging Forward with a Purpose

After spending a few weeks in the Academy of Thera, Tellik went home to see
his mother again, only to find her gone, a pot of stew still bubbling away
over the fire. He searched all over the city for her and put the word out,
but in the end, all his efforts were futile. Realizing such is the way of
the street life, he just moved forward with no goal in mind other than trying
to eck out an existence to the best of his ability.
Having stuck to his roots, Tellik had trained as a thief in the Academy. He
found his new skills allowed him a freedom he had never known as a common
street urchin, and thrilled in the adventures he was no able to pursue.Ever
eager for bigger and better things, he worked hard to advance quickly through
his guild with the hope of experiencing some truly exciting adventures. His
progress, however, was unceasingly hindered by the mediocre mindset of his
ambitionless peers, who seemed to have little interest in adventures.
Consequently, Tellik was forced to travel with people like the young tribunal
Kobicar who seemed to be interested only in fighting weaklings who provided
no challenge. This was a constant annoyance to Tellik who never stopped
trying to motivate Kobicar and those like him to strive for bigger challenges
with bigger profit. Finally they cursed his existence and broke their ties
with him. From time to time Tellik was blessed to find a few with ambitions
like his own, and in those times, his career took off.
True to his ambitions, he ever strove to reach the pinnacle of his guild as
quickly as possible, barely stopping for coin, gear, or training. Even so,
he still felt no overall purpose or calling in his life, other than enjoying
it to the fullest. That is until he met the captain Neltouda. After amusing
her by robbing the BattleRager Iegob in front of her, she invited Tellik to
join her crew. Though he would have been uninterested normally (knowing
nothing about the precepts of her faith), her reaction to the theft intrigued
him, so he decided to ask what she expects of her crew. After a little chat
there, and at the Inn of the Eternal Star, Tellik suddenly realized that he
had a similar spirit to the Captain, and that he had already been fulfilling
the expectations of one of her crew without ever knowing it. Suddenly he
felt for the first time that he had a purpose and calling in life, something
to strive for, other than self-fulfillment (though perhaps that remains a
close second). True to his ambitious nature, Tellik wasted no time locating
the Thundering Maiden, though the Captain was indisposed by that time. After
another chat with his new found patron Lady, he was more convinced than ever,
as she showed him around her ship, bestowing upon him the title of Stowaway.
His next goal, in addition to his previous goals of adventure, is to earn the
promotion to Deckhand, and to bear the Captain's mark.
Born to be a Street Rat

Tellik grew up on the streets of Galadon. He knows nothing about his
biological parents, whether they died, or whether he was simply abandoned.
The only mother he ever knew was a young human girl who found him crying in a
pile of trash in an alley in Galadon when she was about 10 years old. She
had been living on the street for a few years by then, but was never willing
to talk about it the reason for it with Tellik. She taught him to survive on
the streets, and was as much of a mother to him as he's ever known as they
lived in a small shelter she'd built in a hole in the wall of a building.
One day while scavenging for food, Tellik found a scroll of faerie fire that
someone had dropped. Not knowing what it was but recognizing that it might
be something of value, he tried to read it, and managed to activate the magic
upon himself. Running home to his mother, he told her what happened. Hoping
that he might have some aptitude for magic and wanting a better life for him,
she found some way to get him enrolled at the Academy of Thera (though she
never said how), thereby setting him on his path to adventures.
