Description

The man before you moves quickly, his eyes darting about the room warily. He looks to have faced many hardships in life and lost, wearing disheveled clothing save for his armors and weapons. His smell is distastefu and he looks as if he could desparately use a bath and a fresh set of clothing. His sharp eyes are a stark blue contrast to his otherwise dreary grey form. His feathers are filthy gray and white and his beak is a stark black, hooked at the tip.

Role

Background

Added Fri Jul 23 22:36:02 2010 at level 34:
Being stabbed in the skull repeatedly. He felt as if he was being stabbed in
the skull repeatedly. He had a profound headache, its origin unknown, and
were it not for the pain in his joints and muscles he'd continue sleeping
until it went away. He winced his eyes open out of pure willpower. Opening
his eyes didn't help him much as the room he was in was dark and it was
impossible to see much of anything other than some daylight entering the room
above and behind him.

He could not turn because his arms, wings and legs were tied to the chair he
was in.It was a rough hard rope and it chafed against his feathers and the
raw skin underneath. He knew he was on a vessel of some sort because of the
rhythmic and steady rocking and this was all he really knew about his
location. You'd expect, waking to find yourself in such a state, that he'd
be alarmed and panicked but the truth of the matter is it didn't really
bother him that much other than the agony his body was in.

He surmised that he'd been this way for a while. The kind of stiffness you
get in your shoulders and knees from being tied to a chair and left for
several hours is a unique feeling. It took him several moments to get past
that pain to realize his ribs and legs were bruised and battered and his
throat was raw from lack of water. His larger concern was he didn't remember
how he got there there was a fog in his head he couldn't seem to see
through preventing him from remembering who he was or how he got into this
state.

He was alone in the darkness. There was a strong sense of urgency rising
slowly in the back of his mind that he needed to get himself out of this
place. He needed to be free again and his life depended on it.

Background Cont.

Added Fri Jul 23 22:38:05 2010 at level 34:
The arial prisoner gathered every ounce of energy and strength left in his
body and stressed the joints of the chair and the ropes binding him. He felt
the cool trickle of his own blood running down his fingertips from the
binding against his wrists and it angered him. Rage built up in his head,
pounding with every heart beat as he exerted himself to the limits of his
physique. Ultimately the wooden chair, not built for this sort of
confinement, snapped under the pressure.

Within a few minutes he managed to untangle himself, numbness running through
his body as his heart beat fired like a snare drum in his chest. He needed a
weapon the broken leg of the chair would suffice for now. It was then,
perhaps drawn by the noise, that he heard a door open by the corner of the
room behind him. He quickly scrambled for cover behind some crates, gripping
the leg of the chair with white knuckled ferocity.

young human boy entered, foreshadowed by a lantern held in front of him,
cautiously walking into the room. Before the boy could utter a startled word
the arial charged him, his muscles burning with rage and anger at this
courier of his captor. The first blow was a swipe to the boys face,
shattering his nose and shocking the child with his own blood. The next
cracked his skull, sending him to the floor with a groan as his hair started
to fill and drip with his own blood. Blow after blow landed against the
boy's skull and face until he stopped moving. The swollen remains looked
like a hideous doll, eyes swollen shut, mouth swollen open, nose barely
recognizable in the flickering of the spilled and fallen lantern.

The arial let the fire from the lantern burn, feeling a joy building within
him at his actions. He was pleased with his work and could feel freedom just
within his reach. It spurred him forward, through the door, climbing up
through an open hatch onto the deck with powerful strides propelled on pure
adrenaline.

It was the early morning and his eyes burned at the sunlight. Men were busy,
he did not recognize any of them in his haze of rage. He gave them no chance
to stop him, their startled reactions were not fast enough. His wings spread
behind him in the cool breeze and launched him into the sky and he cut
through the air away from the ship. Soon it fell behind him.

In front of him was a city just on the horizon, smoke billowing from
rooftops, towers cornering the city walls. He flew towards it but as he was
naked as the day of his birth, covered with the blood of his victim, he felt
discretion would be more appropriate. He stayed away from the city walls,
flying low over the trees until he came upon a field with a cow pasture and
some oxen scattered about grazing.

Background Final

Added Fri Jul 23 22:39:23 2010 at level 34:
He landed beside a wide and aged oak tree. Its girth several feet around,
granting him cover to survey the fields in the early morning. After a few
minutes of nothing he spotted a dark skinned field hand approaching from the
house on the corner of the property. The field hand carried a scythe,
walking towards some open fields of grain that were ripe for the culling.
Perhaps forty years of age in human years, the human was muscular but
undoubtedly a civilian and carried the scythe as a tool rather than a weapon.

The arial dropped chair leg and put his hands up, walked nakedly towards the
field hand who was immediately startled and put both hands on his scythe.

Sir, I need some help.I've been robbed, the arial said as he walked
towards the man palms raised.

Oh my!Who done it? What happened?

By then he was within a few feet of the field hand, who stared into his eyes
waiting for an answer. Without a second thought he closed the rest of the
distance and grabbed the scythe from his grip. The man turned to run but
could not outpace the wings of the arial and was tackled by the waist and
brought to the floor.

With instincts that the arial didn't know how he possessed he straddled the
field hand, knees astride his chest and began pummeling the man into
submission. Knuckles cracked against flesh and bone. Gasps and groans cried
out from the man as his face was beaten until the skin split and hung away
from his skull. The beating continued until the man stopped moving dead or
unconscious it did not matter.

Searching his body quickly he found a work knife on the man in his pocket.
It was sharp enough but a weak weapon, still it felt as natural in his hand
as if it were an extension of his arm. He gripped it and smiled. He felt
free. He could not remember who he was or where he'd been. There were no
shackles on him, he could be anything and anyone he wanted. Giddy joy welled
up in him as he gripped the blade, looking at the house in the distance. A
small child was arguing with his mother almost beyond his sight. He crept
towards them...

Sphere

Added Sat Jul 24 14:51:25 2010 at level 35:
Teranek follows the sphere of deception. He believes that all of life is a
matter of perception and deception. It is the heart of all military
endeavors and it is the soul of all that seek power.

Deception is not all about lying. It is not so simple as fraud. He is not
against those things but those are just weak acts of deception. There is a
lot more to it.Deception is about getting others to perceive things that
are not true. Hiding in the shadows is an act of deception, as it deceives
the eyes. It is powerful to make someone believe something that is not true
and the use of that perception is what separates the brilliant tacticians
from the flock.

He is known to cater his back-story to his audience if questioned about it.
As far as he is concerned, his life did not exist before he lost his memory.
It is irrelevant, one story is as good as another.

Truth to him is a weakness. It removes all strategy, it removes all tact. A
giant who throws his weight into every fight is true and he is also
predictable and stupid.

Traits

Added Sat Jul 24 14:53:07 2010 at level 35:
Teranek is rare in that his name is chosen. He does not recall his
childhood, he has no recollection of his history prior to his escape from
captivity. He chose the name Teranek Malos himself out of a need to refer to
himself as something. To him it is a meaningless label.

He feels his amnesia is a gift.He is accountable to no one and he has no
ties. Like many arials he is all too cognizant of his short longevity. He
firmly believes in freedom of action and doing what pleases him.
Consequences aren't important, life is too short to spend on inaction,
weighing out probabilities and catering to others who may or may not prove
themselves useful.

He has a strong distaste for arials who dedicate themselves fully to a cause.
is too short for causes. Causes are for idiots to occupy themselves
with and justify their actions because they are too cowardly to admit they
enjoy bloodshed, adventure and having power over the lives of others.

Having amnesia is a lonely feeling. He truly cannot connect with others.
Every connection he makes is superficial and they will last as long as he
feels its fun to have them. People don't and cannot know him because he does
not know himself.

Being an arial he is inherently sharp. Sharper than most humans and far more
intelligent and crafty than the lesser races. It takes a lot to get him to
care enough to discuss with others but he is at his heart a philosopher. His
lax speaking habit is more for the benefit of others than himself, he has no
interest in showing off his intellect to potential enemies and rivals.

He is a strong believer of freedom, true freedom. Freedom to do what pleases
you. He's a moral relativist, strongly believing that mortals are but ashes
and dust, transient in nature and confinement is antithetical to their
nature. He does not care for Tribunals, Priests or anyone who truly
dedicates themselves to a cause. However that does not mean he attacks them
on sight, he's willing to work with idiots if it achieves his goals.
