Description

WHOA! This might actually be the ugliest elf to walk all of Thera! It is near impossible to gaze at this man and not stare at the hideous deformity of a cleft palate that mars his upper lip, teeth and gums. This birth defect causes him to talk with a distinct lisp, making him sound quite idiotic. If one were possessed of enough imagination to envision this elf without this terrible blight on his face, they might actually find that the remainder of his appearance is quite attractive. Unfortunately for him, most people do not possess such enhanced visionary abilities. He has cool, blue eyes and his hair is fine, straight and brown that can be sometimes mistaken as blonde in the right light. His face is weathered, and the lines of age, stress and hard work are starting to etch themselves on his brow and around his eyes. Standing a few inches over six feet, he possesses a strong and confident physique. This man has a lean hardness to him, and he holds himself with an alert, ready and nearly aggressive posture that imparts a silent message of danger to those who would challenge him. Oddly enough, despite this aggressive posture, he carries no weapons in his hands, which themselves are scarred, callous and quite large and muscular proportionately compared to the rest of his body. Even though he does not carry any weapons in those meat hooks he call hands, an assortment of whips and flails can be seen strapped to his belt.

Role

Not What Was Expected

Added Wed Sep 30 16:32:13 2015 at level 23:
Gaius Arainduin hurried along the hallway to the chamber where his wife, Glorfindela, was about to give
birth. This was a truly excitable day for Gaius. Today his seventh child would be born. This was
remarkable because he himself was the seventh Archmage of an order of invokers, one Archmage for
each elemental path. The seventh son of the seventh Archmage. Naturally, this could only be read as a
sign of great mystical things to come for this child and it made Gaius beam with pride. Even the other six
Archmages had been talking about this birth for months and how significant it was. They even found an
obscure reference of it written in an old prophecy that no one had understood the meaning of until
now. For certainly now with events unfolding so clearly, this vague prediction could surely only be
pointing to this. This child would do great things for the Order and bring a great deal of honor to Gaius,
and that likely pleased Gaius the most about this whole ordeal. He was a prideful man, and valued honor
above all else. Except to him, honor was a matter of how others perceived him. It was a measure of
greatness and ones stature in life. It is what drove him to study the arts with so much dedication so that
he could rise to the coveted position of Archmage.

Gaius entered the room just in time to see the midwife fully extract the child from the womb. Hardly
able to contain himself he ran over to peer down at the child over the midwifes shoulders and balked in
shock at what he saw. The boy child had a deformity.

-What is wrong with my child!?- Gaius demanded, teetering on the brink of outrage. -His lip! Look at it!
It is mangled! This cannot be! He is born deformed! What have you done!?-

-Gaius, please calm yourself! Neither the midwife or myself has done anything wrong! He is your son!-
Glorfindela pleaded with him.

-No! Call the healers now! They must fix him! Until then keep that disgrace out of my sight!- Gaius
boomed, his anger and frustration being stoked by the fear that this child was lame and would never be
able to rise to the station he was supposed to attain, before storming out of the room.

Sighing ever so sadly, Glorfindela took the babe in her arms and smiled lovingly at him like only a mother
could. -Do not listen to that my dear son. I will always love you. I do not care if you will never speak well.
I shall still love you and I will call you Terxaxous, a name I hope you wont need your lips to pronounce.-

A Tough Childhood

Added Wed Sep 30 16:36:15 2015 at level 23:
The healers came and went but the cleft lip Terxaxous was born with could never be fully healed, leaving
him with a horrible scar and a terrible lisp of a speech impediment. Gaius shunned the child for the first
many years of his childhood, having felt completely disgraced and shamed over the whole ordeal. He let
his mother care for him and that was all he would do for the boy. When the boy was old enough, Gaius
decided to have him instructed in the ways of magic, hoping that somehow the boy might overcome his
deficiency and prove them all wrong. It was a desperate try, Gaius knew, and his shame was only
redoubled when the boy failed to produce even the most basic of magics, his speech unable to
enunciate the complex words needed to work it.

The years dragged on and Terxaxous grew into an adolescent. He was at this time mostly an
afterthought to his father. Even the other elves in the order and the community mostly treated him with
the same cold indifference that Gaius treated him with. He was tolerated and nothing more, with the
exception of the boys his age. Many tried to bully Terxaxous for being different and a freak and it
resulted in him getting into many fights over the years. Perhaps if he lived in a different community he
might have found acceptance among the elven warriors, but, as it was, the order dominated the
community and magic was the sole profession.

The only person who treated Terxaxous with any love or compassion was his mother. She educated him
and taught him about the arts. Many of the elves thought that the boy was dumb because he sounded
so foolish when he spoke but Glorfindela knew this not to be the case. He was as sharp mentally as any
other elf in the order. Terxaxous loved his mother, which is why his life changed the day she fell mortally
ill.

The Final Straw

Added Wed Sep 30 16:38:39 2015 at level 23:
Terxaxous was at his mothers bedside when the time came for her to draw her last breath. He was
anguished that the only person that loved him or treated him with a modicum of humanity was now
gone. He was also enraged that his selfish father had not been at the bedside to tend to his dying wife.
Instead, Gaius had been focusing his attention on some new magical ritual that promised to further
bolster his reputation as an Archmage. This caused Terxaxous to storm in on his father and confront him
about the matter. The argument between the two was terrible and every perceived slight that could be
remembered from over the years by either side was thrown at the other. It ended with Gaius telling his
son to get out and never to return. He was disowned and no longer had a home here.

When the anger from the argument had faded and Terxaxous had left his family home, a severe
depression had set in on him. He was saddened not only by the loss of his mother but by the treatment
he had received all throughout his life because of his birth defect. He wallowed in this depression for
several days, going through things in his mind over and over again, until he had a revelation. The
common thread with all of the terrible things that had happened to him in his life was magic. It was at
the root of the reason why people, his father most of all, treated him like he was something less than a
person. How could these people, these elves, who were supposed to be a good and caring race, do such
an awful thing? The answer was clear to him, it was the allure of magic that did it. Terxaxous didnt care
about how much good magic could do for the world if that was the price you had to pay for it, and he
then vowed to make it his lifes work to battle the arcane arts.

Life After Disownment

Added Fri Oct 9 10:01:21 2015 at level 27:
Life was not much easier out in Thera on his own, for Terxaxous. After leaving his childhood home he
traveled to Galadon where he took up in the warriors guild and began honing his skills as a fighter. The
life of a warrior and adventurer was full of dangers and many found the young elven warrior. Enduring
through some early challenges, he advanced significantly enough in the guild where he specialized in
hand fighting as that style felt most natural to him, having had much experience defending himself in his
childhood scuffles. Eventually, he grew strong enough to kill a necromancer preying on orphans in
Balator. Not long after the fight he had a fateful encounter with an elf named Molqui.

Molqui as it turned out was a Battlerager, a warrior in the crusade against magic. Molqui and Terxaxous
immediately felt a kinship through their shared goals. Terxaxous told Molqui of his history and Molqui
offered to support his entrance into the Village. Terxaxous swore his oath to Tahren and met with the
Commander who allowed him to build a hut.

Finally, things were starting to improve for Terxaxous. That is not to say that life for him was not full of
challenges anymore. Quite the contrary, it is only now he had a place to live and a place that accepted
him for who he was, defaults and all. Now all those challenges seemed so much easier to deal with and
even more so Terxaxous found himself relishing many of them. Despite all that, he knew that even
greater challenges would await him that would try the mettle of his very being.

Magi of the Light

Added Sat Oct 17 13:02:21 2015 at level 40:
As Terxaxous knew would be inevitable, his war against magic has brought him to the opposite side of
the battlefield of magi of the light. He doesnt wish it to be that way, especially since these magi are
good people and believe they are doing right for this world, however, his father was one such person.

It is said that people always have two reasons for doing what they do, a good reason and the real
reason. Take his father for example, his good reason was that he was using magic to better the world
and aid his people. His real reason was to enhance his stature and power amongst his peers, so much so
that it caused him to focus more on the means than the ends which had some devastating
consequences to those around him, such as Terxaxous.

Terxaxous has his two reasons, as well. His good reason is that because of what he witnessed with his
father, he feels that no matter the intent with magic, it is simply a power too alluring and corrupting to
be a tool anyone can actually wield responsibly. Those who claim they can are deluded in his mind and
likely dont even realize the unintended consequences that result from their use of magic. His real
reason is truly more personal. Magic ruined his life. It is the reason he was shamed and outcast from his
people and family. It is the source of an incredible amount of heartache and pain and if he can prevent
the same from happening to even one person he will feel like he has done something good for the
world.

And so, Terxaxous has completely committed himself to this war and the Village that accepted him and
gave him a home. He has decided that he wont actively hunt those he knows to be magi of the light if
he can help it. He knows that he lacks the eloquences of speech to dissuade them of their path and can
only hope that they learn from their ways. However, should he find himself on the battlefield with a
magi of the light he will do his duty to the War and the Village, first. It will weigh on his heart, as it has,
but, he knows that as with all wars collateral damage happens. Good men with good intentions end up
warring each other all the time and those who partake in the war must understand that sacrifices are
necessary and that they must accept the burdens of conscience that accompany it.

The Troupe

Added Wed Nov 4 11:35:19 2015 at level 51:
When Terxaxous was advancing through the middle ranks of his guild, he came across something that
caught his interest. The Troupe of Raltevio. It is an artists Troupe, and since his mother was a lover of all
things music and art he decided to investigate it further to honor her memory, as she was truly the only
bright spot in his years of youth.

Terxaxous met with Lord Raltevio and began to learn of the Troupe, and found that he had a desire to
try his hand at painting. He also learned that the trials and stresses of his War on Magic served as a
useful source of inspiration, or what the Troupe calls ones muse, for his art. Terxaxous created his first
painting that was symbolic of a significant event during his War on magic. He had slain Gnus the Dread
Lord of the Empire, who had been growing quite powerful with his gathering of souls into an unholy
spear. The spear was destroyed as a result of this victory and Gnus abandoned the Empire, leaving the
Dread Lord post vacant and dealing the Empire a solid blow. He did not create the painting to celebrate
or brag about his accomplishment, it was more to memorialize such a significant event in his War on
Magic. Victories and defeats happen often in the war but it is rare that one of such magnitude occurs
and so he felt the need to remember it through art and he found it served him as excellent inspiration
for the painting. It had meaning to him and he could pour his heart into it. The painting itself was
decent, but, by no means a masterpiece. It was, however, a good start for further works that might
themselves become masterpieces.

Terxaxous also learned of the Game. He liked the analogy, as explained by Raltevio, that life is like a card
game and one must play the hand they are dealt. He felt he could relate to this, as he had no choice
over the circumstances of his birth defect, and he had to deal with it the best he could. Instead of letting
this drag him down into nothingness he felt he had made choices that mattered. He was playing his
hand as a member of the Village and it was making a difference. He will continue to paint, and perhaps
even one day sculpt while striving to be a member of the Troupe.

The Provost

Added Sat Nov 14 12:02:57 2015 at level 51:
Terxaxous is irate with the audacity of the Provost of the Tribunal, Hitrimpili. The Provost came to the
Village to try and kill a younger Villager who had no way of fending off the Provost. Terxaxous did what
any rager worth his place in the Village ought to do and tried to fight the mage. The wizard used his
magics to hold himself in another dimension so Terxaxous decided to instead eliminate the threat of the
guards the Provost brought with to do his bidding. Angered by Terxaxous interfering, the petulant
Provost served Terxaxous with a warrant. Terxaxous was outraged that he could be served a warrant
within the confines of his own Village for doing nothing more than his duty and defending what he
considers to be their sovereign territory. The Tribunal have no jurisdiction over these lands and
therefore should have no right to serve warrants within them.

Terxaxous wrote letters complaining of this insulting act, hoping that the Village leadership would take
action. After having a discussion with the Drillmaster, he sees that his complaints are heard, but, had
been told that he did his duty well and should just accept the consequences. He was asked what he
would do were he the Commander of the Village. The question struck Terxaxous as a difficult one. The
options were actually quite limited because the Tribunal would not listen to any argument they would
make. He supposed he could appeal to the Immortal Tribunal Lords or that he could try to negotiate
with the Provost. Neither of those prospects sounded very probable of success. That left the choice of
either do nothing or go to war. Terxaxous knew that he was outraged enough to go to war over the
slight, and realized that if he were Commander he probably would go to war over that. But, he was not
Commander. He knows his place and is not trying to usurp power from the rightful leaders of the Village.
He will follow the lead of the Commander and Drillmaster. He has played his hand in this matter as best
he could and would simply just have to wait and see what, if anything, becomes of it.
