Description
Before you appears a stout and sturdy dwarf, built with the resilience of
the mountains that birthed him. Years of mining and overseeing laborers
have left him broad-shouldered and thick-armed, his hands calloused but
precise. His skin is a deep, weathered bronze, a testament to years spent
in the depths of the earth and the open roads of trade. His nose is
slightly crooked from an old break, and his sharp, calculating eyes miss
nothing.
His beard, a mark of pride among his kin, is thick and well-groomed, woven
with bands of silver that signify his growing wealth and status. His dark
brown hair, streaked with hints of gray despite his relative youth, is kept
tied back in a simple knot.

Chapter One: Roots in Akan
Added Thu Mar 13 14:42:17 2025 at level 6:
Thalrik Grimhold was born in the modest village of Akan, the youngest son
of a castle guard. His family lived simply, their existence shaped by
discipline and duty, yet they had little to spare beyond the essentials.
With his fathers long hours spent at the castle barracks and his mother
struggling to manage the household with what little they had, Thalrik was
left largely to his own devices from a young age.
With no tutors and few expectations placed upon him, he roamed the village
and its outskirts freely, learning from the land rather than from books. It
was during these wanderings that he discovered the mines. The cavernous
tunnels, alive with the sound of picks against stone, called to him-not for
the labor, but for the wealth hidden within. He watched miners emerge with
pockets full of raw gems and glistening veins of ore, and he knew that
fortune lay beneath the earth, waiting to be claimed.
While other boys played at swords and dreamed of knighthood, Thalrik
learned the ways of mining. He listened to the foremen, observed the trade
routes, and, when he was old enough, secured his own stake. By the time he
reached adulthood, he had grown from a scrappy village boy into a well-
established mine overseer, commanding respect and turning modest profits
into a growing fortune. Yet, despite his success, he was restless. The
mines had given him wealth, but they could not give him status. He had no
desire to spend his life covered in rock dust. He wanted more.
Chapter Two: A New Path in Galadon
Added Thu Mar 13 15:03:40 2025 at level 7:
Ambition drove Thalrik west to the grand capital city of Galadon. The
towering spires, bustling markets, and stone-paved streets spoke of a
different kind of wealth-one not hewn from rock, but from power and
influence. Gold alone was not enough to secure a future among the citys
elite, one had to be indispensable.
In Galadon, he sought out the Healers Guild, an institution known for its
rigorous training and close ties to the Blood Tribunal, the governing body
of justice and order. He saw the path clearly: healing granted influence,
and influence granted authority. The guild welcomed those with sharp minds
and steady hands, and Thalrik possessed both. His years overseeing mines
had honed his discipline and problem-solving skills, and he applied himself
to the study of medicine with the same determination that had once earned
him his fortune.
Though many saw healers as servants of mercy, Thalrik understood that
healing was power. Those who could mend wounds and cure ailments were
sought after, respected, and-most importantly-owed favors. As he climbed
the ranks within the guild, his ambitions crystallized. He would not remain
a simple healer. He would ascend to the role of Magistrate within the Blood
Tribunal, where law and medicine intertwined, and where decisions carried
the weight of life and death.
With each passing day, he moved one step closer to securing his place among
the ruling class. His journey had begun in dust and stone, but it would end
in authority and prestige.
Chapter Three: The Missionary of the Mauls
Added Sat Mar 22 16:25:01 2025 at level 36:
True to his ambition, Thalrik rose through the ranks of the Blood Tribunal,
serving faithfully in the city of Voralian. His reputation as a decisive
Magistrate, who balanced mercy with order, grew. His service earned him a
transfer to Hamsah Mutazz, a city of opportunity, next to the Imperial
Lands, where power could be reshaped and alliances forged.
Having found the Palace, deep in the snowy mountains, Thalrik further met
Lord Rillan himself. In that fateful audience, Thalrik laid forth his
devotion - his willingness to serve, to enforce structure, and to spread the c
might of the maul. Lord Rillan, ever the architect of power, saw promise in
the ambitious dwarf. A bargain was struck: Rillan would grant Thalrik
access to potent prayers, divine invocations that would solidify his
standing and further his influence. In return, Thalrik would become the
Missionary of the Mauls, the living embodiment of Rillan's doctrine,
ensuring that order and power continued to shape civilization.
Now, with newfound strength burning in his veins and the will of Rillan
guiding his hand, Thalrik stands poised to reshape Hamsah Mutazz in the
image of the Lord he serves. The city will know order. The people will learn
obedience. And the maul will stand ever ready, not just as a tool of
oppression - but as a warning.
Chapter Four: Lord Rillan's Five Tasks
Added Sat Mar 22 16:27:45 2025 at level 36:
First, write me a missive, demonstrating to me a deep understanding of the
tenets. Give examples of their use.
Second, which you have chosen willingly, spread my name, spread word of my
benevolence and generosity.
Third, grow your wealth.
Fourth, do not offer your prayers freely to the light, unless they accept my
greatness.
Fifth, bring me one who you have convinced of my greatness.
Chapter Five - Part I: The Six Tenets of Order
Added Thu Apr 10 20:05:17 2025 at level 51:
1. Laws Are in Place to Protect. To Thalrik Grimhold, the law is not a mere
collection of edicts - it is the framework that keeps society from
unraveling. Having risen from humble beginnings, he knows firsthand the
chaos that lies just beyond the reach of order. In the mines, rules
prevented collapse. In the cities, laws prevent rebellion. Thalrik
understands that the law is a shield for the worthy and a leash for the
masses. Through law, strength can be exercised without descending into
anarchy. He enforces it with clarity and without apology, knowing that true
protection comes not from kindness, but from structure.
2. Banks Are in Place to Protect Your Wealth. To Thalrik, wealth is not
only gold - it is influence, favor, and legacy. The mountains granted him
riches, but institutions such as banks ensure that wealth remains
meaningful. He views them as sacred vaults of civilization's strength, where
ambition is measured and safeguarded. A society with no banks is a society
where might alone rules, and while Thalrik values strength, he values
stability more. He supports the protection and expansion of financial
institutions, understanding that prosperity must be preserved through
systems, not whims.
3. Those in Power Shall Be Worshiped and Obeyed. Thalrik kneels only to
one - Lord Rillan - and expects others to kneel in kind to those placed
above them. Power is a divine assignment, not a temporary possession. When
obedience to power falters, so too does the foundation of civilization. In
his role as Missionary of the Mauls, Thalrik preaches submission not as
weakness, but as wisdom. The mountain does not ask for permission to crush
the disobedient, and neither should those in command. Worship and loyalty
are tools that maintain peace - and those who refuse them must be reminded
why the maul exists.
Chapter Five - Part II: The Six Tenets of Order
Added Thu Apr 10 20:11:07 2025 at level 51:
4. Be the Man of the People. Cunningly, Thalrik walks among miners,
merchants, and magistrates alike. He shares their burdens in appearance and
speech, making them believe he is one of them. But he is not. He belongs to
something greater. Still, he understands that power is best preserved when
the people believe it is theirs too. He offers them healing, wise words, and
just enough opportunity to keep their heads bowed willingly. In this way,
Thalrik is not just their leader - he is their champion, their voice, and
their illusion of control.
5. Control the Narrative. Thalrik learned early that truth is malleable. In
Galadon, rumors could bury careers, and in Mortorn, history is shaped by
whoever carves the next wall. He controls stories like a mason lays stone -
deliberately, with purpose. Whether through sermons, proclamations, or soft
whispers in the right ear, he crafts the version of events that best
supports his rule and Lord Rillans will. A lie told with confidence and
consistency becomes belief, and belief is the foundation of order.
6. Divide to Rule. Unity among the masses is a danger, not a virtue.
Thalrik ensures that factions remain suspicious of one another, that
alliances are temporary, and that loyalty always flows upward, never
sideways. Through subtle policies and social engineering, he pits merchant
against noble, artisan against priest, ensuring that only the strong -
himself, and his chosen - can mediate the chaos. In division, he finds
clarity... in conflict, he sharpens control. Peace is not found in harmony,
but in a balance maintained by a firm and guiding hand.
Through these six tenets, Thalrik Grimhold serves as more than a healer or
judge - he is a living embodiment of Lord Rillans doctrine, a mountain
standing firm against the ever - shifting tides of rebellion, chaos, and
sentiment.
