Description

He is a little under six feet tall. His skin is heavily tanned. His limbs are long and wiry and along with his quick movements gives the impression of young man full of energy. However, the wrinkles around his blue eyes as well as the lines creasing his brows clearly suggest an adult. His long golden hair is tied in a pony tail revealing his weathered square face. A full, golden beard smoothes what appears to be a pronounced chin. He is clad in simple clothes. They appear dusty but well taken care of. He doesn't seem to carry a purse, but tucked in his belt you notice a flute.

Role

Brief Background

Added Wed Mar 8 11:09:02 2006 at level 1:
Thelmon was raised among the traveling people. No stranger to hard work,
Thelmon nevertheless was blessed with a more or less carefree childhood.
For the last five years he has mostly lived near Aldevari, but earlier he
and his family was never settling in one place for more than a few months.

From an early age music has been a large part of his life. A child
gifted with good wits he loved to listen to the lore masters and
committed many of the old songs to memory. Noted for his clear and
beautiful voice, he was often chosen for first voice in some of the
various rites of passage. Thelmon entered puberty somewhat later than
the other boys, but when it happened he discovered to his horror that he
could no longer sing properly. This was when he began to play the flute
in earnest.

Now, on the verge of adulthood, he is beginning to find his voice again,
if not yet his path in life. He is setting out on his own to experience
the world from the adult perspective. He plans on traveling as a bard,
but has an as yet unarticulated desire of another, perhaps more
religious call.

Basic personality and immediate goals

Added Wed Mar 8 11:10:44 2006 at level 1:
Personality: Light-hearted, curious, passionate. Does not shy away from
conflicts. Believes that you should help others, but in a way so that
they can help themselves next time.

Somewhat restless of nature, bordering on the impatient. Has a tendency
to judge others quickly. Prideful, does not easily forgive what he sees
as wrong doings. Despite his capacity for wisdom, he has a tendency to
see moral matters in black and white. Perhaps a fallacy of youth?

Full of wander lust. Enjoys a good party with other people and singing
and dancing, but also has a need for solitude in his more contemplative
moments. Has visited some of the greater cities, but did not enjoy it
due to the noise, the filth and the crowds. Perfectly content to live
from one day to the next. Relishes the beauty of the wilds.

Immediate goals:
To see the world.
To learn more of the old ways, the ways of spirits and earth gods.

To teach of the beauty of the Light and the dangers of the night through
song and deed.

Thelmon is deeply opposed to the rising Empire. He believes them to be
oppressors and their words of trade and peace to be golden lies. He
plans to travel the lands and sing of freedom and the need for
opposition.

The call of the Glade

Added Sun Apr 30 04:17:21 2006 at level 28:
Thelmon seeks to bring light among the darkness in several ways.
The blessed touch and light of Innis still lingers in his heart,
providing warmth and guidance in the darkest night.

He tries to lessen the darkness by fighting its champions, but
it is a task that is difficult to enjoy due to its grimness. He
much prefers to learn the old songs and keeping them alive. He
plans to seek out loremasters and learn from them that their
knowledge can help keep the darkness and nightmares at bay.

Thelmon's travels

Added Wed Nov 8 12:49:45 2006 at level 38:
For years Thelmon has wandered the wilderness seeking spiritual growth
as well as ancient lore. He has learned numerous songs of the old
spirits and ancient ways. Some years ago he approached the outlanders of
Thar-Eris seeking to learn the ways of the ancients from them. He was
appalled by their brutish ways. appetite for destruction and
indiscriminate killing. He knows that not all the ancient spirits are
benign, but he finds it a mystery how many of the outlanders appear to
be evil to the bone.

He still prays to the good spirits and above all the sun. Indeed, he
hopes to show that the ancient ways are good and unselfish in
essence. Thelmon aims to show by example how to live in harmony with
one's surroundings enjoying the rich gifts of the land.

Thelmon has heard of the ancient loremasters called sunwardens. So far
he has not found one, but he still seeks traces of their lore in order
to keep it alive and spread their teachings.
