Description

Eyes the color of a fiery forge look about quizzically and are shadowed by thick onyx black eyebrows. His hair is the same color and hangs down to his rear in a thick tightly braided ponytail.. clamped at the end by a shiney golden ring. His beard is fixed the same way and hangs down a bit past his waist with an identical ring clamped at the end. He is of normal size and stature compared to other dwarves you've seen, reaching about four feet tall, give or take an inch. His physique is quite hearty and stout with broad shoulders that connect to a thick neck, and atop of such sits a large head. His lips are large and a very dark shade of pink, sitting below a large smashed in nose obviously misshapen. His face is scarred and weathered and you can tell he has had quite a life filled with war. His burly torso connects to his waist which sprout two stocky legs seeming to connect to the ground almost like they were tree roots.

Role

Confrontation with the King

Added Mon Apr 20 12:14:55 2009 at level 35:
A crushing day for Thrallin Nurrak was about to commence.. he clutched his
flails tightly as he marched the mountain path to Akan. Nothing but anger and
vengeance was on his mind, but he was completely set on being loyal to his
race.

As he wobbled up to the Mountain guard, he tried to swindle the keys from
him.. but nothing worked. The guard said he was under orders to let NO ONE
in... he even gave Thrallin back a bottle of heavenly brew made by Lady Yean
and said as delicious as it looked his head would roll if he did so...
Knowing he couldn't stomach the slaying of his own kin in front of him, he
found one of his brothers in the village, Gahdak, already somehow held the
keys. With relief on his heart, he unlocked the door, shook his head at the
dwarf, and continued to the kings room.

Busting into the kings court Thrallin began questioning him about his father,
demanding answers. The king.. with a magical rune in his hand even, denied
knowing anything about his father, but Thrallin could see the fear brewing in
his eyes. Thrallin roared at him about the way true Dwarves were supposed to
live, but the king could only worry about being safe in his mountain and
getting fat. Enraged, Thrallin clutched his flails wishing to make a move
desperatly.. but the king called guards to slay him out of fright. Thrallin
slayed them as his stomach churned to harm one of his own kin outside of his
will, and spat on the ground before the king..."Ah'll save Akan then, cause
yeh sure as 'ell ain't goin ter do it."

Exiting the mountain.. sickness befell him. "Kilgen.. pops.. Ahm sorry Ah
couldn't save yeh..." he whispered as he began to vomit. "They're all in
there, corrupted te 'ell and they can't even see it. Lies, betrayal, and
terror. They bein' insecure because they're relying on otha means ter stay
safe.. Thror.. 'elp them cast it away and pick up their blades.. All Ah got
now is yeh as a memory pops, but Ah ain't ever goin' ter let it go". He wiped
a bit of vomit from his beard cleaning himself and sullenly went back on his
way.

An Oath of his Soul

Added Tue Apr 14 14:48:50 2009 at level 15:
Kilgen rushed out of the cavern and laid on the ground attempting to look
exhausted, he could only wince in agony knowing his son had to watch.
Thrallin hid deep in a cavern cubby hole and was pained to watch the guards
decend upon his father. Tying his wrists and feet together, they began to
drag him back to Akan and Thrallin has never forgotton the last time they met
eyes as his father nodded to his son in confidence before being drug out of
his vision.

Thrallin crouched down and tried to figure out his feelings until a few tears
began to fall from his eyes.

"Ah can't believe these magics can beh changin' the hell outta mah own kin so
much. Ah want it ter beh like old times mah granpops told meh about...
workin' by the sweat of our brow, lettin' our muscles beh doin' tha work.
Standin' up fer what would make the Dwarves of old proud... Now weh secretly
playin' wit magic and Akan gettin attacked... mah kin deceived beyond their
own vision... and my pops is gone. This bein' one huge curse. It's only
makin' us weaker while they think they gain strength."

"Ah swear by this day.. Ahm going ter stay true to mah pops till mah last
breath. Ah'll save Akan from the destruction that's comin' upon em. And Ah'll
do it all the right way. I swear pop's... yeh stay alive... yeh son's comin
ter free yeh. And I beh stickin' ta tha loyalty of the Dwarves tha whole
time. Thrallin Nurrak is goin' ter be tha last one standin' at the end of this
war."

And with that.. he took a flail from the cavern wall he called a home and set
out with nothing but combat and honor on his mind as he marched toward the
village.

Corruption Exposed

Added Tue Apr 14 14:42:41 2009 at level 15:
The Dwarven race was beginning to lose their identity. Kilgen highly esteemed
combat and taught his son everyday... nearly any dwarf was ready to brawl and
learn a few more moves here and there... but the other's in Akan weren't even
doing that anymore. Many were... reading... and gaining knowledge from books.
Kilgen simply could not take the queerness happening about him anymore and
packed up and took Thrallin with him.

Moving to a small nearby cavern, Kilgen decided to raise his son on his own.
It was up to him to raise the only one left to carry his bloodline, their
grandfathers of old decended from one who even stood amongst Thror. Years
past and they made a living selling ores and crystals until Kilgen decided to
slip into town and take a good look around to see if anything had changed.

The moment he walked into town the townspeople were in a bustle.. a band of
dark knights and a drow were slaying every shopkeeper within sight. In awe he
moved quickly to the castle door for safety and finally made it inside. "This
town is becomin' cursed" he whispered to himself. Being as sneaky as a burly
block of muscle can be, he found his way to the kings quarters and began to
listen... they were concocting runes with magical symbols upon them. One of
the advisors looked over at the king "Yeh.. and this one will beh making yer
skin as 'ard as stone if weh get any intruders." he stated proudly. Gasping
in awe Kilgen knocked a candle off the table on accident and began to run for
his life. "Guards get him!" yelled the king.

Kilgen could only think about his only child as he ran to the cavern where
they lived. "SON! Ah gots no time fer banter. The kings guards are comin' ter
take meh away... magic 'as brought a curse on Akan, our roots are gone and
yeh gots ter bring em back!" he cried out. "Yeh gots ter seek out the village
that lies to the southwest. Yer Pop's orders! And if yer never see meh
again... Ah loved yeh more than any father could beh lovin' 'is son". He told
him a bit of what he saw in the mountain afterwards before departing him.

Childhood

Added Tue Apr 14 14:39:24 2009 at level 15:
The traits and beliefs of a dwarf are impossible to strip from them.. almost
as if they were stalwart defender's of a religion. Hard work, forging,
smithing, drinking... just to name a few staples, have been kept by them for
centuries. They're truly a driven race, and their culture is one of the most
well known unique ways of life. Though a few seemed to turn away from this
life.

Thrallin's childhood only consisted of his father as far as family was
concerned. His mother died at birth, but his father, Kilgin Nurrak, was as
proud as one could be for his son. Over Thrallin's young years his father
taught him everything of a dwarven way of life, Thrallin even dreamed of
being in charge of the local Quartz and Iron Quarry near the town of Akan
where they lived. But Thrallin could not get over the other dwarves that
surrounded him.

When Thrallin was old enough for school.. he would talk up his father and
everything Kilgin would take him to do... what kind of metal they
blacksmithed, or what kind of new brew Kilgin showed to him, but no one could
relate to him. He was viewed as some kind of outkast and had nothing in
common with the others until he broke down and finally expressed it to his
father. And that is when they first realized....
