Description
Before you stands a middle-aged male human, standing a little under six feet
tall. His short light grey hair has begun to turn grey at his temples. His
sky blue eyes are surrounded by a sea of wrinkles, his cheeks have a large
crease from an almost ever constant smile on his face. His skin is deeply
tanned and has a few scars on his bare forearms. His nose seems to be a
little bent from being broken at least once. On his chin he has several days
worth of stubble.

My father, my fathers father, and his father before his guarded an ancient
shrine of an ancient diety, lost in the mountains. The land has all but
forgotten my Lord. The Lord Bahamut. The great and eternal dragon.
One day my father and I were training when we heard a low rumble. It dawned
on us that it was an avalanche. We quickly ran from the shrine and fled down
the mountain out of the way of the coming tide of snow. As we returned up the
mountain, the shrine was all but gone. My father was in disbelief, he dug in
the snow all day, until I finally made him stop, but it was too late. He had
pneumonia which claimed his life in the end. With my father dead. My mother
dead at birth, and my Lord's shrine destroyed. I had nothing left in the
mountains and decided to travel down into the civilised world.
The teachers of the Eternal Dragon, were of protection. They talked of
protecting those with goodness in their heart. And spreading the Light into
the depths of Thera. Never letting the darkness overcome the light. Never
letting the Light fall into the darkness.

Well, much time has passed since I first wandered down from the mountain. I
believe now the Shrine my family protected was or is similar to that of Lord
Selric. He is also a Lord of Protection, but also that of Healing and peace.
I am now a member of the Fortress training to be an Acolyte of the Golden
Sun. This has brought me great joy in serving the Light.
I have met a wonderous fairborn, Lady Starlnyrn she also is a Scribe in the
Fortress. The first moment I saw her I knew I had fell in love. I ended up
telling her of my feelings, which I knew was a bad idea but she told me I
should tell the person. But I suppose I always knew it would never happen.
For she is a fairborn and I am a human. I have now told her to dismiss what I
told her, and dismiss and forget my feelings. She said "Ok then", perhaps
that was not the reply I hoped. But it is for the best. But now I found
myself feeling somewhat lost. All I can do now is serve the Light and only
the Light the best I can.
I still have a long and hard path before me. My spirit shall hold strong. I
shall defend the Light until my final breath.

I have been having restless sleep for many nights now. Hearing screams of the
fallen when I lay down for rest in my cot. Seeing the groping hands of the
deceased when I close my eyes. No matter what I have done, I sleep
restlessly. I always hear the screams of those that were not saved, the
screams that I had to kill in the defense of others. I see their dead hands
reaching out for me. I must concentrate more so on the serenity of the light.
I try to follow the teachings of the Kara Chal, the teachings of Healing,
protection and peace. Peace is something that I strive for, that we all
strive for. The peace, the ultimate protection against evil. It is time for
me to sleep, to hear the voices of the dead once again.
